    Anyone Blogging?

When I can't eat, I write. Or at least, thats what I'M doing. lol I'm exactly one week out from my surgery and on day 2 of my pre-op diet and I've started a blog. Feel free to follow the link in my siggie if you want to follow. There are only two posts, but it's something. Anyone else blogging about this rollercoaster we're on?
  3. BSN Lean Dessert Protein powder? Anyone? Its not a bad price and their flavors sound good. But at the end of the days it still a Protein Powder, so I'd love some input from anyone that has tried it. Also, what is your favorite Syntax nectar flavor?

    Eating Habits - Be Honest.

here are a few reasons why people fail with the band... slider foods constant grazing poor food choices (not enough Protein, too much fat/sugar) not listening to the body's signals that they are "full" poor restriction from fills/lack of fills There are a million different reasons why people fail. The band can't and won't do the work for you. You still have to exercise self-control, good food choices, etc.

    Need ideas.. bored

For breakfast I have one of these usually... Breakfast Burrito: 1/4 c. egg substitute scrambled w/ 1 or 2 sliced of turkey bacon and 2 T. WW cheddar cheese in a low-carb Whole Wheat Tortilla Mushroom & Swiss Scramble: 1/4 c. egg substitute scrambled w/ mushrooms (sauteed in 1 tsp butter substitute) and a little swiss cheese. CarbMaster Yogurt w/ GrapeNuts Well-toasted whole wheat english muffin w/ 2 T. Peanut Butter (when I'm on the go) For lunch I really like... Tuna salad (made w/ fat free mayo) on Sandwich Thins BLTA (turkey bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado) on well-toasted diet whole wheat bread. Turkey Spinach Wraps: low-fat roasted turkey lunch meat, baby spinach, and 2 T. fat-free cream cheese (w/ green onions, 1 tsp. dijon, and diced red pepper mixed in) on low-carb whole wheat tortilla (these are great to make three at a time and refrigerate for the next couple days) Egg Salad (made w/ fat-free mayo) on well-toasted diet whole wheat bread. dinner is usually a free-for-all of whatever I come up with... Baked tilapia w/ dill, bbq-lemon meatloaf w/ asparagus and homemade baked sweet potato fries, baked spaghetti squash w/ a little marinara sauce... I'm still working on finding a good list of dinner-type meals.
  6. I'm down around 20 lbs at one-month post-op.
  7. I just found out yesterday that I won't get my first fill until 9 weeks post-op. It was supposed to be two weeks earlier, but my doc is on vacation. So, when did you get your first fill?
  8. iJenny

how much can u eat now???

just cancel the fill appointment. Easy-squeezy. You're not under any obligation to do what your doctor says, especially when you don't feel comfortable with it.
  9. Being so freaking hot and sweaty all the damn time! Shesh!!! I know its because of my weight because its gotten worse as I've gotten heavier. I am so so SICK of sweating all the time and being hot in almost any situation!! Thats what I'm *not* going to miss about being fat...
  10. I have the standard 10cc band. I'm 5'8" and 281 lbs.
  11. yesterday I blended up some chicken salad and while it would have been good "whole" and it smelled good, it was NASTY tasting. The consistency made me gag and I just couldn't do it. I'm going to avoid blending much stuff (especially meats blech!) if possible. I had a soft-scrambled egg this morning. And I have a lite yogurt ready for lunch (w/ a tblsp of drymilk mixed in).
  12. I had the referred shoulder pain with my second c-section (the first was emergency, so no Co2). It was TERRIBLE pain and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. With that said, walking and moving about helped shorten the duration of the pain, but not the severity. I'm certainly going to be asking my doc about the Toradol after my surgery next week. Thanks for the info!
  13. I can't find it! Will someone please link me up?
  14. I think by "diet", your doctor means you shouldn't be feeling hungry all the time. THAT'S when you need to go in for a fill, when you're not getting restriction, thus suffering from hunger throughout the day. But by "diet" if you think that means you can still eat whatever you want, however much you want, I think you've missed the point of the surgery. Its a huge lifestyle change. Our eating habits have to change 100%. If we ate what was good for us and in reasonable proportions, none of us would need this surgery to begin with!
  15. These are all great suggestions! I'm getting banded next week and I'm most concerned about the mushies stage, so this is a great help! Keep 'em coming!

    I last meal'd myself 8 pounds higher!!

The Magic Bullet and I are having a stand-off. I don't want another chocolate Protein shake. *glare* Alas, I know its going to win. Damn, I'm hungry.

    I last meal'd myself 8 pounds higher!!

Just had my pre-op this afternoon and I "last mealed" myself up six pounds. Oy. So, onto a full liquid diet I go for the next week until my surgery on the 9th. *sigh*

    Where will we be?

I'm getting banded on June 9th on my 29th birthday. On my 30ths birthday I want to be at least 75 lbs lighter, but I'd be happy as a lark if I could get down 100+ lbs. I want to have a big 30th birthday bash with all my friends and family and celebrate how far I've come! And I want to look hot and sexy in my new (smaller) clothes! lol
  19. iJenny

    I'll start, any others?

Hi! I'm Jenny and I'm being banded on June 9th (also my 29th b-day) in Fort Collins, Colorado! Tomorrow will mark one week until my surgery and I'm getting so excited and anxious! I am starting my 7-day pre-op diet today. 4-6 Protein shakes a day and a low-fat, high-protein mini-meal for lunch or dinner (lean grilled chicken breast, low-fat cottage cheese, fat-free tuna salad w/ wheat crackers, etc.) Ok, thats enough blabbering from me. Off to my pre-op appointments with the surgeon and hospital this afternoon!
  20. So my surgery is on June 9th and I'm starting to get really stressed about all the preparation and planning and shopping and all that jazz. So help me, bandsters! What do I need to have at my home for when I come home from the hospital? What did you wish you had? What did you have that you never needed/used? HELP! :cursing:
  21. I don't know if its a girl thing or not, but its certainly a "me" thing. Not only do I need to feel like I need to be prepared, but I'd rather be "burdened" by the list now that have to worry about it while I'm recovering. Thanks for all the suggestions! I've had two c-sections and a breast reduction before (sorry if its TMI) so I know I can handle this surgery. Its just all getting very "real" all of a sudden. lol
  22. iJenny

    Any June Bandsters???

June 9th here. My 29th Birthday! I'm getting really anxious. Not nervous, but anxious and just ready for it to be here already! I've been waiting months now because I set my date for summer break (I work at an elementary school) so its been a long wait for me.
  23. I hate nothing more in life (almost) that being nauseas. One of my fears, as irrational as it may be, is that I'll spend a lot of time post-op suffering from nausea. So, did you have nausea after your surgery? How soon after and for how long? Did it get better as you healed or is it something that just happens post-lap-band? What causes your nausea? When you're nauseas, do you vomit? Am I just being irrational? lol
  24. iJenny

    Let's talk nausea...

This is all very encouraging! Thanks!

    Hey Ya'll!!

**waving furiously** Just wondering if there's room in here (no pun intended) for one more twenty-something. My name is Jenny and I'm 28 years old. I'm getting banded in June (no date set yet) and I'm really excited. Especially after looking around here in and seeing how amazing you all look! Ok, so here's a little about me... I'm Jenny. I'm 28 and I live in Loveland, Colorado with my husband of 8 years, Jeff, and our two sons, Cameron (7) and Connor (4). I've been heavy since puberty, but my weight ballooned out of control after kids. I'm pushing 300 lbs. now which both horrifies and disgusts me. I'm sick of not being able to be active with my boys and I'll be damned if I'm gonna pass my bad habits on to them. So, LapBand it is! I would love to get the surgery sooner than June, but I work as a school nurse in an elementary school and I can't get the time off work until school is out for the summer. *sigh* Its gonna be a long wait. Anyways... thats it! I look forward to getting to know you all!
