  1. Its all so individual too. For me, if I don't get into the "normal" wt on the chart I will feel like I failed to some degree. My friend has lost slightly over 100lbs but she is still considered obese on the charts and she it totally cool with it. We are also wear the same size clothes. How that can be I have no idea, but we do. I am into size 12's some 10's. She has had a lbl and I have not but still.

I remember being in HS thinking that I was fat too. And I weighed about 140 lbs. I am not sure that I can get there now. My OB said that I have had 2 kids since then and not to expect to get back to there.

Is anyone else shocked at what they found underneath all that fat? I am AMAZED at how small I am in my upper body particularly. I scratch my shoulders or back and am truly surprised. I am pretty bony and I dont ever remember being bony.

Now between my waist and my knees..... ugh. It isn't cute.

I have 3 boys and neither of my boys took after me. They are both tall and skinny, like their dad. But my nieces are heavy and I see my oldest neice going to HS and not eating because she is embarrased. I have sat them all down and we have gone to sparkteens.com to talk about food choices and calories and stuff. Their mom just isn't educated on calories herself so she feeds her children un healthy foods and portions.

But message that we women are getting on what is considered beautiful is so distorted. Those body types are just not what most of us are or could ever be.

  2. Hi ladies,

Sunshine I too am close to being at goal and I went into my band dr last week and he told me that it just may be that no matter what I do, this may be all that I can lose. Not what I wanted to hear. I so desperately want to get to a normal weight. I can't get into the 160's it seems. I am hitting the gym hard but its not budging. If I got rid of my lose skin with plastic surgery I would be below goal but I am not planning on any plastic surgery. The recovery and expense is just not worth it to me. Maybe someday. Is it possible that you are just at your bodys set point? I feel you. I am very frustrated but I will keep trying to get there.

  3. Hi ladies! I have been lurking and reading on and off but I wanted to run some things by everyone to see what you guys thought.

I am 20lbs from goal or so. I had a couple of consults for ps and I am really conflicted by what they told me.

My 1st consult was with a Dr, beautiful office, very clearly upper end clientelle. What he told me was so interesting. He believes that we all have a set point when we will lose weight to and then the tissue will hinder our BMR and we won't be able to lose any further. He was completely content doing the surgery on me, lbl and inner thigh and said I would get awesome results. He said that I am tiny underneath my tissue and had great skin.

The 2nd Dr is an older man, has been in the business for years and said that I needed to lose more weight in my thighs to get the results that I want.

So Dr number 1 sees a friend of mine that has about 50 more lbs to go. She was banded 3 years ago and her weight has stabilized and she is just ready to get her tissue off. Is content with losing 105lbs. Well he operates on her and takes off 38#s! 16 from lipoing her legs and then 22 from around her body. She had a lower body lift. I am amazed! So my question is, have any of you guys heard of this theory that we will only lose to a certain point and then ps is our only next resort? And if so many drs feel this way why not get 40-50 lbs from goal instead of busting our azzes to get to goal?

I don't think I can go through with any ps! 3 weeks no driving is a deal breaker for me but I am just wondering what everyone else thinks?!

  4. Good luck with your PS, Julie. Also, thanks for sharing your b/4 and after photos. You are a beautiful woman. I hope you will also share your PS progress. It is so helpful to those of us that are considering PS in the future. :bolt:

Are you staying in the hospital? What is your recovery time? Is an extended Tummy Tuck the same as a belt lipectomy?

  5. I need your guys' help.

    I have some questions.

Did all of your surgeons specialize in dealing with massive amounts of weight loss?

Did anyone have a Belt Lipectomy?

In a hospital? How long did you stay in the hospital? Recovery time?

I went on a consult with a surgeon that doesn't require his patients to be at a certain weight. He says that our bodies with only get to a certain weight and this excess tissue will affect our BMR and we won't drop any lower. That our bodies are in "shock" like we have been in an accident and we won't lose.

I just was wondering if anyone else had been told the same thing?

And what was the cost of your belt lipectomy and medial thigh?

I am completely overwhelmed with the information he gave me because it seems to go against what I have seen here on this site. Most people I have seen get surgery were at or very close to goal.

    Thanks

  6. Hi Everyone,

I can totally relate to looking at pants and being sure that they aren't going to fit. My husband even commented that when he does the laundry now he has to figure out if they are my pants or my 12 year olds!

I too am back at the gym. Well I went to the gym once and plan to go tonight. It felt really good.

I am finally into Onederland. I thought I would be so excited to see those numbers but its kind of anti climactic. Not sure why.

I have been there for a few days now so I trust it.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great Thanksgiving!

  7. I have learned that I can lose weight! I fought my weight for sooooo long and I really wondered if I was just doomed to be overweight. I have learned that I am NOT big boned. I have not learned to slow down when I eat and I pay for it pretty regularily. I have learned that I can live without bread and rice and Pasta. I have learned that being 85 lbs thinner doesn't eliminate lifes issues but they sure aren't quite as dramatic in a size 14 versus a size 28!

I love my band and I love this board!

  8. Thanks Sula. I have about the same amount of weight left to go and I can't get the scale moving but I haven't been in the gym for a few months. I keep saying I need to go but I don't make it there.

I have a son in college that plays basketball and a 12 year old that plays on a Select team and his school team. The season is starting so I keep thinking I won't have time. But thats a crappy excuse and I need to fit it in when I can. I feel so much better when I am in the gym.

I had someone tell me I look shorter now that I have lost weight! Anyone else hear that?

Its so nice that the posting is picking up. It was quiet here for so long.

The bones are weird aren't they Tonya? I still go to itch my back or shoulder and its weird to feel an actual bone instead of what it used to feel like.

  9. I have read some of those posts too. I find it interesting reading but it makes me sad. Is it really so important to be right that we steamroll over other peoples opinions and feeling? I am glad that we dont have any of that here.

  10. Glad to see we are still around.

I can't get below 203 lbs and into Onederland. I need to get back into the gym but I can't get re-motivated. I have never had this problem with my exercise. Not sure what the deal is but I can sure tell with my moods too. I need exercise as a stress reducer.
