For those six months after band surgery
rms78645 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I swear I feel like I am losing my hair. I seem to have alot of it in my hands when I run them through my hair but my best friend is my stylist and she swears I haven't lost any. I have plenty to spare but its scary. I am almost 7 months out. -
Yup. I am in Maple Valley!
-
Thanks ladies. Well this 2nd half is a little more stubborn than the 1st half of my weight but now its time to step it up on the exercise front I guess. You guys keep me motivated!

Do I have to sip water my whole life?
rms78645 replied to Chicagoboy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 6 1/2 months out and I can't drink water the way I used to. I was a guzzler and I think its what I miss the most since being banded. I find it hard to get my water in since I can't guzzle. Oh well, small price to pay for being over 1/2 way to goal! Its totally worth it to me! -
I'm 24 lbs from Onederland and I think I am going to make this a regular place to visit while I am getting there! Everyone is so excited here!
-
I am so jealous Sunshine! I want to go on a cruise. I am going to Mexico and on a cruise when I get to goal. You look awesome and thanks for the cottage cheese test. I am not sure I can eat anything fast like that. I went today and had a fill under fluro. My first fluro. My band looks awesome and I got another .5 cc in my band. We'll see how this works. Its so awesome to see the changes that everyone is experiencing in their lives. Keep it up ladies! We rock!!!!

I can't wait to weigh less than my husband. Thats awesome! Sula, do you walk on a treadmill or outside? How long do you walk at a time? I need to get back to my longer workouts. I am also rethinking an fill or unfill in 35 minutes! What to do? What to do?!!!!
-
What is the cottage cheese test? I am scheduled for a fill today but I think its really an unfill that I need. I am so confused. One day I can eat anything and the nest day everything gets stuck and I can't eat. I had my 2nd episode of reflux last night and I am irritated. UGH! Scale isnt moving and I'm frustrated. I go into see my Dr in a few hours. I am going to ask for a fluroscopy to make sure my bands ok. I am starting to get worried. I'm glad to see your scale move Tonya. I think your body is trying to catch up with your rapid weight loss. I am on week 3 of no movement and I am trying not to get stressed. It is starting to feel like all my other diets. Initial success and then nothing.

I had a horrible attitude about my workout today too. Had to will myself to the gym. Once I got there I was fine. I downloaded some new songs on my ipod and that helped alot.

How much weight did you loose before your first fill?
rms78645 replied to too much of me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 18lbs from date to 1st fill. -
I was wondering if I had it. I was getting myself all worked up before I sat down to eat and was getting stuck. Then I started making myself PB to get the stuck stuff out, horribly bad, I know. Like multiple times a day. I stopped losing also. So I am working really hard to not have mealtime be stressful and chew and eat slowly. Havent make myself pb for 2 days now. I have to not wait til I am super hungry to eat and I also need to let go of the things that wont work, like rice and pasta.

Do you find its physically easier to eat garbage?
rms78645 replied to roxy123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

I am in between on this too. I eat what I want but I don't want much. If my son has fries from McD's I have a few. I have chips if they are around so I try not to have them around much. Most of the time I eat protein 1st. My goal was to be able to eat tiny portions of whatever I want. Its not always possible to eat everything but that is my goal. I eat no bread or pizza ever. I don't think they will work and I truly don't miss them. I used to eat french bread and butter alot. And pizza was a huge red light food for me.
-
Hi Everyone, I am really curious to see where they think the saline went. They can't get you in any earlier than the 20th? Ugh. Hang in there. Look at it this way... when you get restriction your metabolism willhave been jump started by the extra calories and you'll be less apt to fall into a plateau. Keep us posted.

I have been very aggressive with my fills. I have to wait 2-3 weeks between fills and if I can eat more than 1/2 cup I go get a fill. My last fill was 05/09 and I have lost 26 lbs since then. I am at my sweet spot and if I feel it losening I will go in for another fill. I don't understand the point of having this thing and not using it the way it was meant to be used. I have a very close friend that has not been aggressive with her fills and she wishes in hindsight she had been more aggressive. I just find that when I am properly restricted I have no cravings for food. I eat until satified and then I stop eating, and that is usually a few bites. My only issue is that my energy levels arent great. I was working out alot, that has tapered off.

HI Everyone, I am good. I had to really make sure to eat slowly and chew. THE issue was totally my being in a hurry. Tomorrow is 6 months and I am at 59 lbs. I want to get to 60 but we'll see. Good to see everyone checking back in. Sunshine, let us know what they tell you.

Congratulations! I too have been following your posts to see whats been going on!

I am from Maple Valley Washington

My doctor does all his fills without fluro. After my 1st 3 fills I could eat almost anything. After my 4th that all changed. I was anxious to get here but it was nice to "ease" into restriction too.

Did your insurance cover your lap-band?
rms78645 replied to mommy2kyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husbands' insurance covered it. It was First Choice through the Teamsters. -
I was banded in January and can't seem to order small portions. I dont eat it but I order it. It makes my husband nuts cause it is a waste of money. Now that my son is home from college he is eating my leftovers but I can't break the habit either. And I won't eat leftovers. If i can have only a few bites I dont want the same thing again the next day. I want new food!
-
I am posting to bump us back to the 1st page! I have been having a hard time lately and if it continues I may ask to get a fluroscopy. I can't seem to get food down for some reason. Liquids and soup work fine but food causes me to throw up. My last fill was on 5/9 and I seem to be getting tighter. I am on liquids to get the swelling down from the throwing up. If it isnt better by next week I am going in. Ugh! I don't want to get an unfill but I dont want to lose my band either. I am wondering if the stress of getting stuck is making me tighter. Maybe I will try warm liquids before I eat food. NOt sure whats up but it has me worried.
-
I had to stop taking them before and after my surgery too.
-
No it doesn't. I flew a few weeks ago and had no problems.

Hi everyone. I was just catching up and I want to say how sorry I am about your daughter Sue. My brother died 2 years ago at the age of 25 and my parents struggle daily. I can't imagine what you are going through and I want you to know that you are in my prayers! I too am losing faster with my band than I ever have before. I was always the slowest loser in the bunch, always way below the "average". I am not losing as fast as some but I am losing fast for me and I am thrilled to death. This is a journey and I am blessed that I was able to take it!
