Has anyone used Care credit?
I used them for part of my lapband surgery as well and I haven't had any problems at all with them. They do have diffrent porgrams/ rates ect so check with your Dr. as to what they accept. Part of mine is no intrest if paid in 18 months and they also have 12 or 13% intrest...which is better than most credit cards! But no I've had no problems with the company at all!

When should I have my first fill?
Thanks Pam! We are going to the Oregon Coast for our honeymoon. Going to a little beach town called Pacific City! It's really beautiful there! My Aunt and Uncle have a house at the beach that they have offered us to stay....it's really nice! We can't wait! I hope I'll get to the right adjustment Monday! I think there are some people with older band who have smaller one...I think they are 5cc, then I've heard of a 10cc then the one I have 14cc. Not sure if that's all....but that's what I've heard of. If you just got banded it's probably a 10 or 14cc band. I'm glad the imput helped you with your decision! Good luck with everything!

When should I have my first fill?
Thanks Pam! I haven't updated the profile in a bit but thanks for looking  My first fill I had too much restriction and had a cc taken out. I've since had 2 fills, the first with another 1/2 cc and I had that for 2 months and then just last Monday I got another 3/4cc fill and now I'm too tight again! Urgh! I guess I'm ultra sensitive. I have 6 3/4cc now in a 14 cc band.....but I'm back in on Monday to have some taken out. I'm back to not being able to keep solids down so I'm on liquids. I've lost about 6 pounds this week but it's not very fun! I hate to see you suffer something like that on your vacation! I'm hoping the if he just takes out 1/4-1/2 cc I will be at the perfect spot!!!! :scared2: I'm getting married August 14th and will be gone a week on my honeymoon....if I did need another fill I defenitly won't be getting that till after my honeymoon :tt2: Thanks again Pam and enjoy your vacation!
-
When should I have my first fill?
I would wait till you get home! I had 3.5 cc on my first fill and had a lot of restriction and couldn't keep solids down without throwing up! That would really ruin your vacation! I ended up having to go back in a get a cc out. So althought most don't get a lot of restriction after the first fill it can happen....and it would be pretty misrible to happen when you are out of town on vacation! 2 weeks isn't that long...if it was me I would wait! Good luck what ever you decide to do and enjoy your vacation!

Hey I made the news lap band
That's awsome! Your a real inspiration! Great story too you look great!

a little DiScourAgeD
I agree with all the above :blushing: I just had my 6 month post op check up and fill on Monday and I'm only down 12 pounds since surgery (which I pretty much lost the first 2 weeks after surg). I know it's hard not to be disapointed...I was kind of bummed too...but my Dr. was pleased with it! The other thing I did was do my measurments and I've accually lost 9 inches in a month so that was encouraging! If you haven't done that I would recommend it. But as others have said 15 pounds is really great! 2.5 pounds a week average is pretty excellent weight loss! Just keep it up! We can do this!

My Husband Is Driving me Nuts!
LOL! You guys are too funny! I totally agree I would be pissed if my hubby had brought wings into the house also! My honey keeps his "treats" in his man cave away from my eyes....even before I was banded when I was doing weight watchers I ask him to keep his oreos and what not in his man cave! I don't think that's cruel...it's being supportive. If he was an alcoholic and trying to get clean I wouldn't leave bottles of wine in the fridge or drink it right in front of him...I would want to be supportive in any way I could be! So why wouldn't it be the same for us when we are trying to loose weight and get healthy. I don't keep any kind of junk food in my house...I'm sure my 9 year old would love to have chips and ice cream and what not at her disposal but does she really need all that? The way I look at it is she's not deprived I'm trying to teach her how to eat healthy so that she doesn't end up morbidly obese like her mom! I wouldn't wish that on her and she has my genes so why not try to keep her as healthy as possible. That's not to say she doesn't have junk food at times...she had plenty of candy for valentines day that she ate....but as far as what's in the kitchen and in the cupboards it's all healthy! And her and my honey eat the same meals as I do for the most part! I just got off liquids and I know it's torcher....we did eat soups as a family then too...it didn't kill em and they ate a good dinner! For the OP I'm glad your hubby was understanding after you explained it to him!

I don't understand!!!
Thanks Dr. W! Great post and really helpful info! Appreciate that!

How long before back to work??
I took off 9 work day (2 weekends). It was nice to have that much time to recover. I had the time paid so figured I would take it. I think I could have gone back after a week...I was getting a bit bored at home but if you have the time I would say take it!

January 2010 bandsters...
I was thinking the same thing Cherri that you need to have more calories! I also lost 10 pounds on my 2 week post op appt....but I haven't lost anything since. In fact it was that lovley time of month and I accually gained 4 pounds...urgh! I'm slowly loosing that now. I'm with you Tamra I can eat way more than 1/2 cup...I'm still on liquids till 3 weeks post op 2/16/10, and I can eat a cup of soup easily without problems. I did feel kind of sick (too full feeling) when I tried to eat a cup of soup and then a yougurt. I should have waited a while for the yogurt. But I'm usually hungry a few hrs after I eat too. I don't have my first fill till March 8th. Just trying to hang in there now...waiting very impatiently for 2/16 so I can eat some mushie foods!!!!!!
-
Need a high protien, low calorie snack??
Oh that does sound yummy....can't wait till I can eat it...less than one more week of fluids and I will be trying this!!!!!!

I'm so hungry...help???
I feel your pain! I was banded on 1/26/10 also and I am just getting to the point where I'm getting hungry especially in the late afternoon, evening time. My Dr. requires 3 weeks of fulll liquid diet!!!! I eat cream of wheat, that seems to fill me up in the morning. And I have also blended cream soup, cream of chicken, potatoe soup and even bean with bacon soup (this one was really good My blender is super powered and it blends it to smothie consistency. Some of the thicker soups seem to hold me better. I'm sure after 3 weeks I'm going to be so sick of soup....LOL! I also have ff pudding (that's thicker so it helps), applesauce, yogurt and drink lots of water, crystal light and tea. I make myself have a couple protien shakes (or I have the unflavored I can mix w/ soup), althought your right they do kind of taste yuck right now for some reason! It seems to help to add stuff, like I added 1/2 banana and blended to liquid. Also like someone else said the sugar free suyrup is pretty good. Hope that helps! Hang in there....I defiently feel your pain

January 2010 bandsters...
I was banded on January 26th...feeling pretty good today. I also feel lucky I didn't have the nausea that a lot of people have. I was nauseated right after surgery and one afternoon when I had some light cranberry juice (maybe to acidic I'm thinking) but other than that no nausea. I get a full feeling after I eat like I need to burp or something..lol! I have been burping more than before but nothing comes up  My Dr. also requires 3 weeks of full liquids. So I feel for you Kathyin. Then I have to do 3 weeks of mushie/ soft foods. I think tuna will be tasting great by then So far I'm really not hungry at all in the morning or afternoons. The evening I have been hungry so I have 1 cup of cream soup and then about an hour or 2 later 1/2 cup pudding. It seems to fill me up...just eat it slowly. The most pain I'm having the last couple days is my BACK Aches Really bad!!!! Anyone else have this? The port site hurts a little when I bend over or stand up from sitting position but the back is the worse! I've been walking a couple times a day and using heating pad...that helps a little. Hope everyone is feeling better and well today

tomorrows the DAY
I'm doing pretty well. Having some little bit of pain to the port site. Right now most of the pain is in my back for some reason. And my leg muscles ache too? Go figure. I don't think I've experienced the squishy feeling your describing. The pain is better than I expected. I'm a little worn out...just tired and don't have a lot of energy but been walking at least 2x a day. Trying to get my protein in and all my fluids. Well hope you all are feeling better soon.

Hi, Just Joined And Question About Motrin
My Dr. told me it was ok to take it postop in liquid form. I had surgery on Tuesday and I've taken it a couple times when I didn't want to take the hydrocodone...it works but it makes me tired and so I have taken the liquid ibuprophen just fine.
-
Chewable (yummy) Calcium!
My nutritionist recommended the Viactiv...said a lot of people like them cause they are like there evening tootsie roll! I got them and they are good! I was worried about taking them now that I'm only on liquids and my surgery corrdinator said just cut them up into 4ths. So I'll try that! Nothing taste great right now...so I think I'll wait a couple days till I'm off the clears. But yes they are GOOD!!!!!
-
Need a good protien shake to keep me full.
I've tried muscle milk light and it is good. I just got 5 containers of the unjury for my post op liquid diet. I ordered the samples and like them. And it ends up being cheaper than the muscle milk. You can order it online and you can order sample packets for $1.75 then you can try it before buying a big container! I bought the canation also and it dosen't keep me full...the mm and the unjury both did.

Surgery date set for January 26th!!!!!
Thanks! Surgery today went well. Having some pain but better than expected at this point. I had surgery at 8:45 and was home by 5pm! I'm glad to be home...it's a lot more comfortable. I had a little bit of nausea after I got out of surgery and they gave me some meds but none since then. Been sipping my clear liquids and everything going down fine. I'm hopping that all stays well and dosen't get worse... How did everyone else day go? Hope well. Well I'm off to try and get some sleep...I'll try and check in tomorrow. Christy

Thanks Trisha...looks like you've done a great job! :cursing: Congrats on your weight loss! I like your daughters Dr...lol! My Dr. has also done thousands of band and still pretty strict on the diet! Mine is 3 stages also...stg 1 liquids, stg 2 soft and mushies and then stage 3 regular foods...stage 1-2 are 3 weeks each. I know it will all be well worth it! I went to the store today and stocked up on ALOT of soups (creamy), light juice, crystal light, broth and some activa yougurt. I think I'm about ready in the food department :scared2:
