  1. Hi Mishell: I am 3 days post op and on liquid diet also. It is really hard. Get nauseas after drinking so much. The nut from the hospital said its okay to have tomato soup, chunky soups blended, cream of wheat (farina) also in this liquid stage. That really helps me. At least it is a change of taste from the protein drinks. Good Luck.....CAT
  2. Hi Ashley: I was banded on 7/25 also. Doing well here. Not really as bad as I thought it would be. Surgery went well...doc said classic case. Hospital stay uneventful (thank God). Home now and having trouble getting in enough protein. Can't handle more than 2 Protein drinks a day. Get a little nauseas after that much. Really not hungry at all. Not even thinking of food. Is this how the skinny people feel??? Good Luck to you! CAT
  3. Hi Mary: I've had some phlem also....especially after I do the breathing exercises. I guess it breaks it up. Hate this liquid stage of the diet. Getting nausea from so many drinks. I can only get down 2 protein drinks a day so far. It's so hard to get all the liquid in. Even the water is tough to swallow. Hope it gets better soon. Hubby just went out to get some tums, lemonade and lentil soup for tomorrow. It said we can have that. Hope you are feeling better. CAT
  4. Amy: Any suggestions for getting all the protein in on the liquid phase of the post op diet. I really can't get more than 2 protein drinks in....getting me borderline nausea. I don't have any appetite yet and trying to get the soup in for dinner. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I hate yougurt. Only 2 days post op and already wishing for mushies. CAT
  5. Hi Slimbandsexy: Good Luck with your surgery tomorrow. Don't be too concerned about the liquid only diet post op. You really don't feel like eating too much at all. Never thought I would be saying that but its true....at least for me right now. I'm 2 days post op and not at all hungry....have to force myself to eat or drink anything. Keep us posted on your successful surgery! cat
  6. Hi Johnathan: Thanks for the prayers.....they worked. Everything went fine with the surgery. Had it at 7 am yesterday and walking by 1 pm. Syosset hospital was great. Pain really very tolerable with the meds they gave me. Today home at noon and a little more discomfort. Have some neck & shoulder pain on left side and sore at the incisions. But managing with just liquid tylenol. Have something stronger just in case. Did you see the little medicine cups they want you to drink from and have to drink it for a full 15 minutes... ha, ha, certainly not what I am used to. I think you are doing terriffic. 36 lbs in two & a half months is great. I hope I can come close to that. It seems like you are adjusting well to the diet .....without the rice issue. Keep it up......slow and steady wins the race! Having my sugar free ice pop now ! CAT
  7. Hi Shap: Banded yesterday at 7 am....first one of the day. All went well and not to bad at all. Pleasantly surprised. Walking the halls by 1 pm. Syosset Hospital is amazing. Great care and everyone so personable. No angry nurses here! Home today at noon. Having some shoulder & neck pain today as well as incisions hurting a bit. Tolerable with liquid tylenol. Have something stronger in case I need it. If I can do this......I know you can. I was really second guessing this for me.....since I am a bit older than most bandsters.....but I'm so glad I made the right decision for me. Good Luck and let me know how you make out with your appt. CAT
  8. Hi all: Banded yesterday at 7am and all went well. Pain was really tolerable with meds in hospital. Walking halls by 1 pm. Did not sleep at all in hospital. Would not give sleeping med b'caue of test this am to see if band was placed properly. All looks good and released today at noon. Home now and having a bit more pain in left shoulder and neck....also incision sites. Taking liquid tylenol and it seems to be doing the job for now. Have a script for Vicodin just in case I need something stronger. Afraid it might make me nauseous so trying not to take it. Glad I made the right decision to do this. Really not too bad so far. Good Luck to all those being banded this week. May God watch over all the July bansters. CAT
  9. Hi all: Glad to be here on the post op side of July bandsters. Had my surgery yesterday and all went suprisingly well. Surgery at 7am and walking the halls at l pm. Since I am a senior bandster.....I was really concerned about my decision to do this, but now I know I made the right choice for me. Home from hospital today at 12 noon and feeling a bit more pain in incision sites and left shoulder and neck. Just on liquid tylenol and heating pad for now. Have script for vicodin if necessary but aftaid to take it b'cause of nauseous feeling it might cause. Not hungry at all yet but still swollen. Dr orders are to drink from a small 2 oz medicine up and it must take me 15 minutes to consume this. Pretty hard to drink that slowly but I guess he wants everything to heal properly. Thanks for all your support on this site.....its been great. Even met someone from this site at the hospital yesterday. We used the same Dr. and same hospital. I felt like I knew her as a friend from our communication on these posts for July bandsters. Such a great support system here....so glad I learned to use the computer...LOL Great job Shauna.....see the scale finally does move. Keep it up and you will reach your goal. CAT
  10. Hi all: Got home from hospital today about 12:30. Surgery was yesterday at 7 am and all went well. Not too bad at all.....pleasantly surprised. I am one of the senior bandsters on this site and was very concerned about doing this ......but I have to say I did really well so far. Up walking yesterday by 1 pm .....but did not sleep at all in hospital so I'm really tired today. Glad its over and I'm officially a bandster. Not hungry at all today...still swollen. Sore at the incisions but liquid Tylenol is doing the job. Don't want to take the Vicodin unless I really need it....afraid of the naseous feeling it might give me. Good Luck to all of those left being banded in July. Its really not that bad and if I could do it so could you. As far as the pre op diet goes mine was for a week with shakes and liquids....I could have veggies and fruits also. See you on the "officially banded" side. CAT
  11. Hey girls: On my way to the hospital it is 5:00 am. surgery scheduled for 7 am. I am all of the above.....so please say a little prayer that all goes well for me as it has for our July bandsters before me. Good Luck. CAT
  12. Hi Mary: Totally with you all the way. Went to see my grandkids this afternoon and my grandson was eating spaghetti with crab sauce. Had to walk away. Had some lemon ice and that sort of helped. I know its really hard for us today but hopefully after tomorrow things will start to get easier........just hoping that for all of us. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW........Y I K E S............Chris
  13. thanks for your reply ......that's kind of what I did today. CAT
  14. Glad to hear it went so well Razz.....I'm getting banded Monday.....counting down. What did you eat the day before surgery. Was it just Clear liquids or did you still have the Protein drinks. Confused about that. CAT
  15. Will try to keep you posted.....right now I can't even think past Monday....LOL CAT
  16. Tomorrow is my day before surgery. For the past week have been doing protein shakes, light soups, yogurt, jello, puddings, fruit & veggies if needed. What do I do tomorrow. The nut mentioned clear liquid diet. Can we continue with the shakes & soups......I don't think so. What have you done? I know after 11 pm no eating or drinking anything at all. Any replies appreciated.......CAT
  17. Thanks Mary: Yes they told me about the Belly button. I am using alcohol & a Q-tip. I guess its close to where they are going? I have to stay overnight as well even though I do not have a CPAP machine. I think all his patients stay over. I guess its a good thing so we can be monitored. Make it come quick now. Tomorrow should be a tough one to get thru. Good Luck again ! We need all we can get at this point. Chris
  18. Dont give up Kat.....I got approved after a Level 2 Appeal. If you don't succeed with the first appeal try again! Make sure you have drs letters to back you up and say it is a medical necessity. Be careful with your wording. good luck CAT
  19. Hi Mary: I am using Muscle Milk Light (Chocolate). I mix it with 1/2 cup of ice and it is not too bad tasting and not too sweet. Have also tried Carnation Inst. BF just for a change and that tastes better to me. Its 15 G of Protein when mixed with fat free milk and very low fat content. Tomorrow our day bf surgery......we can't have any of these drinks correct???? Only clear liquids. Let me know what you have been told. Good Luck on this journey we are sharing together.......I hope it goes well for both of us with no complications. I will look for you at Syosset Hopital if I am feeling up to it. Don't really know what to expect. May God watch over us both in trying to change our lives for the better. CAT (Chris)
  20. Hows the heartburn going......any relief. I hope so! Glad the surgery went well for you. CAT
  21. Shauna: This may be the best thing that ever happened for you. Sometimes God works in strange ways. You may find another job that you like better. I know you will. As far as the fills $$ goes tell your dr. and I'm sure he will work out a payout for you. Aren't some fills covered after the surgery as a post op care? Don't know just askling. CAT
  22. Hi Johnathan: Who did your fill? Did you see Dr.G or does someone else do it. I heard you don't see him too much after surgery day. Mine is Monday.....getting really nervous. Wish it was over already. Surgery set for 7:00 am which I like since I wont be able to sleep anyway. CAT
  23. I am on Long Is also......2x tops right now and 18/20 pants right now......who knows what I will need. I have not had the surgery yet. Getting banded Monday by Dr. Geiss. Who did you use on L.I. and how did you do with the surgery? CAT
  24. Hi: my surgery is the 25th and I also have second guessed the band. Now though......I'm in it all the way. I am excited and anxious too. I know this is the right decision for me. And just knowing that it is reversible.....God forbid I need it......it can be reversed. Try to think positive about your final decision and know it is the right one for YOU. Good Luck on the 29th.......CAT
