Pancreatitis after lap band surgery
Hope you are feeling better......what did they do for you. Are you on any medicine for pancreatitis? Is it related to the band?

I'M READY TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also think you should consider getting another surgeon. There are many good bariatric surgeons.....and it might be a good thing to go to a different dr. than your husband. Get another opinion and if they do approve you for the surgery you will really be pumped up about it!!! Good Luck with whatever choices you make and eventually it will happen for you. God Bless You. Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Day 3 of my pre op diet. So far so good. I think I have lost a few pounds but more importantly I am doing this diet which I never thought possible. Feel really bloated from the protein drinks. Hope I can hang in there till surgery day on Monday. Then I will have to prepare myself for the post op diet which sounds even harder. Thanks for all the information from those who are already banded. It's great to hear your stories from the post op side. CAT

Any suggestions for frozen yogurt that is both Fat Free & Sugar Free? Cant seem to find it in the supermarket or walmart. Just starting my 7 day pre op diet today.......hope I can do this. CAT- July 2011 Bandsters!
Has anyone found a frozen yogurt that is both Fat Free & Sugar Free. Starting my pre op diet today and they say I can have this. I do not like regular yogurt so I'm trying to find the frozen type. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx CAT- Frozen Yogurt
Can anyone find a frozen yogurt that is both Fat Free & Sugar free. I do not like regular yogurt and am trying to find the frozen kind that tastes a bit like ice cream. I heard Turkey Hill makes one but I can't find it. Any suggestions???- Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Great to hear Tammy.....continued good luck with your band. I'm having mine done next Monday....1 week away. I can't believe it. Very nervous and scared but also excited. Hope all goes well for me as most of you have reported. Thanks for your update. CAT- DENIED
Denifnately appeal!!! I was denied last July and I already had a surgery date....was so disappointed. I appealed and was approved this March. It was a long wait but now I am getting the band this July 25th. Had to wait for the summer when I had time off. Hope it is worth the wait.- July 2011 Bandsters!
Personally.....I would wait to come back home. First of all 4-wheeling is kind of strenuous movements. I don't think you should have to worry about the fill when trying to enjoy yourself. I'm sure another week won't hurt to wait. This way if anything does happen that you need to question you will be close to your dr. cat- in the decision phase
Pokernut: I too had many questions before I decided to do this. Researched this for over a year and finally got approved. Now there is no turning back for me......I'm ready for this and I'm having it done July 25th. Scared & excited at the same time but I know it is the right decision for me at this time. You have to do the research and be sure its right for you. Then go forward with a positive attitude. Good Luck. Cat- Over 60 bandsters?
Thanks Karen & Peps & all over 60 bandsters for your good wishes & support. Can't believe it's almost here.....just 1 1/2 weeks away. Starting my pre op diet on Monday. Going for my pre op tests at hospital tomorrow a.m. Scared & Excited but I guess that is normal....right??? Will keep you posted on my journey. Hope I am as successful as you Karen.....wow 100 lb loss is incredible. CAT- Food Police
Same story here Drop sizes.....I've only told my immediate family....no friends at all. Tried to bring up the subject a few times and they said " you don't need it you're not that big".How else can I lose 60 lbs and keep it off (hopefully). I don't need any negative input at this time. It is a hard decision that I have made and don't want anyone to sway me in the wrong direction. I'm having my surgery done on July 25th also.....with Dr. Geiss.....you too!!! I'm going for my pre op tests Thursday. Hope all goes well. Good Luck.- Over 60 bandsters?
Thank you all for your support and kind words. I just came back from a vacation with my whole immediate family. We went to Atlantis in the Bahamas and had a great time with the kids and grandkids. I told all of them what I was considering and they all told me I should go for it. I have never taken a step like this for myself....ever. I always put the kids and family first. They all supported me and with all of you in my corner..... I will go for this on July 25th. Getting excited now!!!!!Thank you and pray that all goes normally without any complications. CAT- Reached 100 lbs. lost! I can't believe it!
Amazing weight loss for such a short time......not even a year yet! Congratulations on a job well done.- Jonathan from New York City!
Wow - 36 lbs down Johnathan.....great job. Did you have to cut the protien b'cause of the gout? How are you doing eating the bread? Any issues getting stuck. Conintued success with your band. You seem to be doing just fine. Thanks for the inspiration. cat- Over 60 bandsters?
Thanks Kil724 for your inspirational words. I really need to hear that now. You did great, 100 lbs lost in only 18 months. I have been over 200 lbs for about 10 years now and its a terrible feeling not being able to lose and control your weight. You have done great. Keep up the good work. Thank you all for your good wishes. I only hope I can do as well as you all are doing. Will keep you posted. Cat- Any July 2011 Bandsters?
So sorry for your trouble Amy.....but I too feel all things happen for a reason. Don't give up on the decision to do this. Continue with another doctor in your area and I am sure things will go smoothly for you. Since you probably did most of the pre op tests it should be quicker for you this time. Enjoy your time with your father and maybe he can help you find a new surgeon in your area. Good Luck!- Over 60 bandsters?
After fighting for this with my ins I finally got approved--now I'm having second thoughts about doing this. Do you think those of us over 60 are being unrealistic about being banded. I need to lose about 60 lbs to be comfortable with myself (165 lbs). Have high blood pressure, knee pain, back pain, urinary incontinence. I am wondering if it is worth the risk of being banded. I am not too worried about the surgery itself since I have full confidence in my surgeon......but the long term complications I have read about are really scaring me. Sorry for being negative ... need to make my decision soon. I know if I don't do this now I will never have this opportunity again.- Looking for other "Low" BMI Bandsters
Hi: I also have a BMI of about 36-37 right now. I'm at my highest weight ever about 225 lbs. I know for some this doesn't seem so terrible but for me it feels awful. I was always average size till I hit my 40's and started gaining every year. Lost 10 gained 20. I cannot keep it off no matter what I do. I really feel that I don't overeat that much but I do make bad choices especially with the carbs. Since my hysterectomy in 2003 I've gained another 20 lbs. I need this tool to help me lose and keep it off. I will be happy with being 175 which for some would be too heavy. I am okay with that as long as I can maintain it and help me with my High Blood Pressure and knee problems. Hoping for the best for all of us. Good Luck!- Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Hi all July bansters: I too have a date for July 25th. I've been researching this for over a year. The last two days I have read some scary things about the band. One lady on this site said she got Esophogeal Cancer from her band. She has leisons that must be removed from her esophogus. She has the band for 5 years and was successful at losing but now has major problems. I know that acid reflux can cause Barretts Esophogus which can lead to cancer. Another lady developed auto immune disease (scleroderma) after 5 years with the band. She blames it on the band also and is on steroids for her disease. Said her husband got it too after being banded. Is it just me or is it possible that the band does cause some serious complications down the road??? Really re-considering my choices here. I worked so hard to get approved and get to this point but now I really don't know. Emailed Allergan who makes the lapband and they sent me all their stats.....alot of medical terms, etc. Any thoughts ? ? ?- My Lap Band caused Esophageal Cancer
So sorry for your complications Robyn.....Not banded yet and very concerned about complications I am hearing on this site. I'm a senior citizen and really don't know If I should do this. I have my date set for July 25th. First I was denied by ins and after my appeal they approved me. Starting to think maybe I should have stayed with the denial. So confused about what to do. cat Robyn: sorry for asking but did your Gastro dr. feel this was definately caused by the band????- Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Hi all 7/11 bandsters.....I have a date of July 25th. Excited and nervous. I'm much older than most on this site and have researched this for over a year and think it will help me with my blood pressure and knee problems and back issues too. Hope so. A little nervous reading some complications on this site about auto-immune disease after being banded but my doctor assured me there is no connection with the two. Also emailed Allergan who makes the band and will read all the stats. I think I'm over thinking this band ..... I hope I can just relax and enjoy it. Good Luck to all. - Any July 2011 Bandsters?
