  1. I popped a stitch after my breast reduction surgery and also ended up with a big HOLE. I thought I'd be clever and put one of those "advanced healing" bandages over it and removed it several days later to find a MUCH BIGGER hole. I emailed my surgeon pics, panicking, and this is the RIGHT thing to do: Keep it clean and dry, a little neosporin is okay, and bandage it loosely so air can get to it. If you're like me, you'll have some scarring as a souvenir.

  2. hi everyone . I had the sleeve on april 14th,2010 10 days ago and i only have incision pain from them healing really good. They itch!! . No problems with the sleeve so far. I get the staples out on tuesday,4/27/10. and i can't wait. My moods are funky and I am very confused. I lost 24lbs since surgery and I feel great about that but I am having some bouts of depression.. I am glad I done it but I guess I miss my favorite foods. I am on the soft /pureed diet and I try to measure my food everytime I eat. Really I afraid to eat, but I eat anyway. I want to know what to look for when something goes wrong. (i.e leakage) also my menstration came on again today. It was just on , 4/12/2010. why is that? My body is freaking out... I'm ready for the change but scared at the same time.:crying:

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this be because so much estrogen is stored in fat and it's dumped into the bloodstream when we lose fat?

  3. Wuh oh....I also have very fine hair....there's a lot of it, it's just really fine. I think plan A will be to perm it before surgery (I know, curly perms are cheesy but on my wavy hair they actually look very natural) to create more volume and help hide the loss. THEN, when I have regrowth that's an inch or two long and it's sticking up everywhere, I'll get a super short pixie cut. Always wanted one of those but never had a JAWLINE....looking forward to that!

  4. Eh. I've been criticized for "frivolous" surgery (breast reduction) by my extended family and you know what? Everybody comes around. Or NOT. Whatever. I finally chose not to waste my energy worrying about what other people thought.

People who say "Oh, I would never have done that..." I just tell "It's good it wasn't your choice then." and smile. Let them enjoy their misery. I'm doing what's right for me.

  5. Okay, just my experience as a yo-yo dieter: when in the past I've lost weight quickly, it would all come off in one area, then slowly my body would "redistribute" things more evenly. Or not. My weight seems to always funnel into my bra which somebody is probably going to slap me for whining about, but seriously, a 36FF is no joyride when they're real. I used to catch glimpses of myself in store windows and stuff, not realize it was me, and think "Good GOD, how can that woman stand upright??"

The point being: everybody's body has a natural shape to which it will stubbornly return. This is rarely the shape first achieved with rapid loss. Keep working out, don't sweat it, and your body will find its balance.

  6. I have fibromyalgia, and that means excerise=PAIN. I used to love to work out before I got this sh!t, Bikram hot yoga, weights, the whole thing. NOW I can barely walk around a Super Walmart without ending up in bed with a heating pad the next day!

So is there anybody out there on this journey who also has chronic pain, especially chronic pain aggravated by exercise? How do you push through?
