  1. Hi! Why dont you take my email, its easier I think bermudanow@yahoo.com JoAnn!

  2. Hi today there was a request from you! My surgery date 3/15. insurance still has to approve it.I fit the criteria for insurance BMI of 35 with sleep apnea. I work for a cardiologist who has watched me try to diet for the last 8 years so he wrote up the "6 month diet and exercise" paper work that I would need for approval. When you get any other presurgical testing requirements make sure they send you a copy so you will always have it at home. Also get a copy of your presurgical clearance, the one you need right before surgery and bring that with you to the hospital. Just in case they dont have it. I am also bringing an ekg just in case. .I am getting one incision thru the belly button technique. I am so happy because everybody else does the 5 hole incision. Where did you see me to put in the friend request? My friend lives in Jks I went to Joes crab shack and had a nice time. hey look at that Im talking about food. What a surprise! JoAnn (Bermuda)

    Easy way out?

You know something, I havent been banded yet but I am telling every one! and almost EVERY single person had exactly the same reaction or they said "why would you risk dying during surgery for that". Everybody has the answer to everything. That is a teenagers mentality the "I know everything" attitude. No one knows anything about you, even your closest friend. You do exactly what you want because in reality you may have very good friends and a great family but you ultimately only have yourself. You know what it is like to struggle with your weight. If you want to struggle less than why shouldnt you. Thats why Im doing it. I just cant do one more diet program ever again and feel like Im starving. I dont know ONE person that wasnt happy with their choice to have it done. Dont worry about what people say. To tell you the truth no one is really that interested in you anyway, you are just part of the passing show. Think about how interested you are in other peoples problems, not much right? So dont let their opinion take over your thoughts. Do it and be proud of it. It takes a tough person to make a decision and go thru with it. Yippy for you!:smile2:
  4. Hi! I was wondering if you might have some info Im looking for. Someone saw our conversation about our cats and read that my cat had died. Someone contacted me asking if I would like to adopt her brothers cat. She gave me her email but it was returned to me as undeliverable. I couldnt takr the cat since I am at my limit already but I wanted to get back to her. I think she lives in California. Thanks, JoAnn Bermuda

  5. My husband is afraid of the surgery I am going to have but I felt great when he told me that I should do what I want to do. He also said he thinks I look great the way I am and physically he wouldn't care if I was heavy or thin. That went a long way with me. Dont worry and just be yourself and get her everything she asks for. Dont forget to clean the house and get your own meals and she will be thrilled!
  6. PS how do you post a thread? I cant figure it out?
  7. Also insurances want documentation of weight loss attempts- be sure to know exactly what they want documented by your doctor or dietician. Mine was 6 mos of back to back diet programs with monthly weigh ins. Another insurance wanted 2 years of a documented BMI over 35. Start doing your testing requirements as soon as you can because it can be a long process. Dont just throw it together hoping you will be approved. Do it right the first time. exactly the way they want so you wont be disappointed if they reject you for surgery. Good Luck!
  8. for insurance approval I need a letter and some tests from a Pulmonologist, a psychiatrist, endocrinologist, cardiology-stress test, nutrtionist, sleep study, GI endoscopy. Concerning just the surgery you will need whatever presurgical testing is done by that hospital/doctor (blood, ekg, echocardiogram/stress test) Before you go to your consult check with your insurance what they require. They are pretty strick with what they want.
  9. You got it with the name thing. I am in Queens NY right outside of Manhattan and it snowed 2 feet last week. I watch TV shows shot in S Cali and I wish I lived there. I cant believe you did WW for a while. I feel like I cant do one more diet, ever again. I hope Im not putting too much faith in the LAP-BAND. I am hoping that if I just feel full I wont overeat anymore. I used to be a very athletic muscular person. I cant wait to get my old body back. I am going on vacation to Mexico. I am glad to talk to someone in my age group. I am 45 and I think there is a different mental state. We probably have the same issues compared to the 20 year olds. LBT messages only take 1000 characters, not much to say what you want to say so here is my email bermudanow@yahoo.com if you would like to keep in touch that way.I would love to follow you and your progress through this really cool time in our lives. Love JoAnn

  10. Hi my real name is JoAnn (Bermuda). Thanks for the sympathy on my cat Kookie. She had diabetes and couldnt stop eating. It was like she was starving all the time. She was very sick too at the end I guess because of her diabetes/kidneys.

Did you get your surgery yet? How much do you think you have to lose? I have about 80 lbs. I am almost done with my pretesting. I just have to get approved (hopefully) and make a date. I am going on an all inclusive vacation so the Doc suggested I enjoy that and then do it. He said you dont want to have to learn how to eat on a vacation like that. Where do you live and what is your name?

  11. I know thi isnt about the lapband but I saw your profile pix and your cat looks EXACTLY like my cat who passed away a while ago. She was all body like yours. She was a big fat girl with diabetes. I think she weighed 23 pounds when she died. Yours is so cute. JoAnn (Bermuda)

  12. Wow Tan!!!!! Youre on the computer already!!!! Great. I was thinking about you all day. I woke up and said "oh man she is there now... then in the afternoon I thought "oh boy she is done, no turning back now"....did you eat yet? Are you at your goal weight yet...Hello! People! Kidding! Let me know how its going and what its like. So exciting! PS did you get your protein stuff? JoAnn (Bermuda)

  13. hey how is it going for you! I wanted to give you my email since I think it is easier to talk bermudanow@yahoo.com JoAnn (Bermuda)

  14. Hi! Thanks for getting back to me! I weigh 248 with a BMI of 38 Im 5'7". Pretesting done. I went to the nutritionist, she didnt sound enthused about weight loss surgery, She said I am going to be hungry all the time but I just wont be able to eat. Most people gain their weight back or only lose 30 lbs. Other negative things, very condescending like I dont know anything about losing weight. Do you find any of her comments to be true? How was your fill- excited? I am having the surgery in March because Chubby is going on an All inclusive vacation to Mexico at the begining of March. I used to be a runner and a weight lifter- I was so strong and healthy. I worked as a mailman and walked 5-8 miles a day so it was never an issue. Then I quit and went to school to be a sonographer and all the weight came on. Now I dont exercise. I cant believe this happened to me! I am 45 years old, married, no kids and live in Queens New York just outside of the city. I hope to hear about your experience.

Hey Michelle! you got your date moved closer! maybe we will all be banded soon! I have been trying to get my BMI up to 40. I made it up to 39 and tonight I went out, had 4 beers and Mexican food. I feel like me neck is strangling my esophagus. After my consult Wed the 9th I hope I can get some of this off of me. Its way too much and I am so uncomfortable. I wonder if they use the weight at the first weigh in at the Doctor. Because if I have to keep up this weight till surgery I am going to drop dead! Boy am I full!!!!:wink2:

  17. Uh Oh, Amanda isnt on LBT she must be on Vidodin today. Feel better!

  18. WHo is all done with their surgery!!!! Who!!!!! You must be in bed down for the count. I bet it went well and happy first day of being healthy and thin!!!!!! Its over!!!!! JoAnn

  19. I almost dont want to know the bad answers to the questions since I want to get the band so bad. I just found out my cousin got the band June 09 and she said its the best thing she ever did. I at least know her so I can judge if other people are just complainers or war story tellers. Some people have a low tolerance to pain. She is pretty tough and said it wasnt bad at all and is really glad she did it and encourages me to so so too. See ya at the seminar, I have spiked up hair with a big blond piece in the front. Easy to spot! JoAnn (Bermuda)

  20. Good Luck Tomorrow. It will be like a birthday without the cake but you will be receiving a new beautiful body! PS I did register for the Ritz seminar for the 8th. Hope to meet you there. Good Luck!!!!!

  21. Hey! My name is JoAnn and I saw you were on Amandas thread. I am meeting her next week if she can make it after surgery at the Ritz seminar on the 8th. When I saw your user name as catlady and that you were in LI I had to reguest you as a friend. I have four cats, love animals and I am in Whitestone so I consider myself a LI'er. I am hoping to get banded, My first consult is the 9th. Are you banded and what is your name?

Hi Michelle and Amanda! I just registered for the seminar at the Ritz on the 8th. I have my first consult on the 9th. Amanda, Michelle told me you will be 6 days out from your surgery!!!! That is so great. Dont be nervous because remember you are going to get to have that really good anesthesia sleep. I love it. Plus they give you a warm blanket and are so nice to you in the OR and recovery room. I cant wait to meet you and Michelle. I am not using Dr Geiss. I am using a guy named Dr Holover and Dr Garber. I work for a doctor- Im an echo tech- so the doc I work for told me to go to this guy. ANyway I cant wait to meet both of you. Michelle, try and get the presurgical stuff done, the sleep apnea study takes the longest because you have to stay overnight and if there is something you might have to go back. That was my experience when I did it. Talk to you both before then, Good luck Amanda:thumbup:
  23. I registered for the seminar at the Ritz on the 8th. I will be going for my first consult the next day on the 9th. What is Amanda's user name on this site. I want to make sure I have the right person. PS so what should I call you? Michelle or Michelle Claire?

  24. Hey! Michelle claire said you might be going to the Ritz Carlton for the group meeting. I might go to or if I miss it the next one. JoAnn

  25. Hi Dawn! I changed my username to Bermuda if you look in your friends. I was such a jerk before and used my real last name. I look forward to hearing every bit of your story. I am not banded yet but cant wait and I could really use your experience! JoAnn
