annecolorgreen - I'm sure your knee will feel much better after! Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Be back in touch soon - we worry about you.

Thanks, NFaith. You're right - I need to be proud of the progress I've made and not let her unprofessionalism affect me this way. I will say my peace (in person) tomorrow, and then let it go - and go on doing what's right for me.

Thanks folks. Maybe you're right. Maybe a well worded e-mail is in order. I'd talk to her in person, but it's next to impossible to find her.

Thanks. I'll have to find some way - I can't let it stop me again. I just found out it was my boss who started telling people. The boss I told because I felt someone higher up should know, but that I was trying to keep it very quiet. She's lucky I'm not the vindictive type, or HR would hear about it.

I hope you have better luck than I. I can't tell you how disappointed I was.

I'm a pretty private person - I don't share a whole lot that goes on outside of work with my co-workers. I also know my own history with weight loss - if my weight loss becomes the center of attention and people remark upon it I will sabotage myself to get out of that attention. I really don't want that to happen this time. I am honestly sitting in my office on the verge of tears - or maybe screaming in anger.

Well, so much for my great plan to not tell everyone at work about my surgery. My first day back and I find out it's all over the building. I told 3 people: the big boss, a friend, and my assistant. I am really disappointed.

That was my morning caffeine for years. I have to say that I cheated and had one a few days before my surgery - after almost 2 weeks without one. It didn't taste nearly as good as I remembered.

I started at 279 (bmi 46.4). I'm now at 256 (bmi 42.7). I set my goal at 179 (100 lost), because I didn't want to overwhelm myself - which is kind of silly - since when is losing 100 lbs not overwhelming!

Had my one week follow-up today. I'm healing well and down a total of 23 pounds. I can now have yogurt, oatmeal, and protein shakes - I'm having a shake for a late dinner - ummm, I'm going to have to perfect this somehow. I took my mother with me to the appt today. We had a talk about boundaries on the way home. She needs to find a way to support me without meddling - without watching every bite - and certainly without calling my doctor (again). She has always been very focused on weight (not just mine), so I hope we can figure it out.

Tamisha - cut and paste the one that starts with [url..... into the signature box.
  12. Bridgette - I just have plain old popsicle brand sugar-free popsicles in orange, grape & cherry. My daughter & I fight over who gets the orange & grape. Cherry is always last. I wish I could find some with better flavors, but no one around here carries them! Had my check-up today. I am down 23 pounds! Yippee! I'm off to update my ticker, and then have some yogurt. One week of full liquid (yogurt, oatmeal, protein drinks) and then I'm on to more real food.
  13. I didn't have an all-liquid pre-op diet, but I'm pretty sure that Big Mac wasn't on the one I was supposed to be following. It was my only cheat, but was a heck of one! Nobody is perfect - not all the time. I don't think I'd worry about a little Soup. SeaSide - you had a piece of cheese. Think about what you would have had before the surgery. I bet a piece of cheese doesn't sound so bad in comparison. You'll get back on the horse.
  14. I bought some store-brand lower sugar instant oatmeal. I also bought some pre-made Kozy Shack Ready Grains, but probably won't again unless I find it on sale! I thought about getting the regular oats, but my microwave is my best friend.
  15. jessicakolman - I hope you can figure it out and do this for yourself. I ended up spending my inheritance ahead of time - my mother paid for it and it will come out of my share of the inheritance at the end.
  16. Good luck to everyone up for surgery tomorrow. My thoughts will be with you. I have my 1 wk check-up tomorrow. I will finally be allowed more than broth, sf jello & sf popsicles. I'm actually looking forward to oatmeal and yogurt! I'm also looking forward to stepping on their scale. I've decided to use theirs to track my weight since it, the surgeon's and my Wii show such different weights.

Either way I'm impressed you're in jeans! I haven't had anything on without an elastic waist yet! I'm thinking for my doctor's appt tomorrow (1 wk follow-up) it might be time to pull on real clothes. I took the week off work seriously.
  18. Thanks for the link. Funny - their more realistic goal for me is almost the same as the one I set for myself. I have two more days of Clear liquids. I am not sure I can handle two more days of broth. Even the idea of broth is making me gag. I am mourning the lack of real food (staying home with all the commercials probably isn't helping), but right now I would be so happy with oatmeal or scrambled eggs.

It'll get better. Be gentle with yourself, and be patient. Not all of us are up and ready to go immediately. I had it done last Thursday and I am just starting to feel more like myself. It will happen for you too. Does anyone else have to wear compression stockings for a long time afterwards? I have to wear them for - get this - SIX WEEKS. I'm a barefoot kinda gal and they are already starting to drive me nuts. Anyone else?

Anne - with my pre-op diet it was fat content as well as sugar content. I would probably avoid the creamer. I was allowed cooked veggies, but fewer of them than raw (1 cup raw = 1 serving, 1/2 cup cooked = 1 serving) Good luck to everyone the next few days! I seem to have finally turned a corner - still not feeling wonderful but a definite upswing at last.

BikiniBeachy - hope you're feeling better this morning. One day at a time even those of us not having a great time of it will get through. It's all the little goals at this point - today I stood up straight without my back hurting as badly and did 10 minutes of yoga stretching. That already makes it better than yesterday. Hang in there.

BikiniBeachy - I'm sorry you're having such a rough time of it. Me too, frankly. Try warm broth - for some reason I can get it down without it hurting, but the cool Water hurts. I'm still having lousy gas pains as well. I gave up on the thin strips and went to GasX chewables. I'm hopeful, but still taking the full week off. LoveIslovely - I'm not convinced the scale on my Wii is always accurate. It could also have something to do with mine being on carpet. I'm considering breaking down and buying a real scale. Do love the Wii Fit, though.
  23. You are a brave woman. My poor daughter is going to subsist on frozen dinners for a couple of weeks. Then I'll get back into cooking for us.
  24. Renita - I had a very odd grocery shopping trip today as well. It was certainly cheaper than usual - all I bought for myself as a couple cartons of broth and some sugar-free popsicles. It is definitely hard to walk the aisles without really missing some of it - or at least eating at all right now. I probably would have done even worse had I been feeling better. taosgirl - congratulations on being moved up. You'll be among the banded before you know it!

Woke up this morning to about 6 inches of wet heavy snow. My daughter informs that a tree on the side of the house has broken, but it will have to wait - my brother will help me with it tomorrow. I did make it out to the grocery store today - bought more broth for me - and real food for the kiddo. Getting out helped somewhat, but the back is still throbbing. I'm trying alternating the lortab and liquid tylenol to keep it at bay. I'm also trying chewable gas-x and hope things improve soon. Thanks for the kind words - this WILL work!
