  1. So I got banded on the 4 th of November. I am almost feeling as if nothing was done, other than the excrutiating gas pains. I am 3-4 weeks post op and have only lost 5lbs. my liquid , my soft , were only 1 week each. and now I am eating solids with little to no problem. I am feeling very discouraged. Does anyone have any advise or have you experienced the same? My first fill is supposed to be in 3 weeks, I can't wait. What till then?

Hi I got banded on the 13th and also have only lost 5 pounds while on the liquid diet. Since I started eating a little more I have not lost any. I understand how you can feel a bit discouraged I thought I would loose more with liquids only. We knew going in that it was going to be a slow gradual process however we humans love instant gratification. Just remember even if it is only 5 pounds is 5 pounds less to carry around and 5 pounds closer to achieving your goal.

5 pounds it's a GREAT START. Hang in there we are all going through this.

  2. I was wondering if anyone ever has a fairly easy post op. A minimum of pain, not much of a gas problem, not to much discomfit. Or is it always a couple of days of "torture" Not quite, but you know what I mean. My procedure is Friday, and its just hitting me.

    Mark

I was banded on o the 13th. Went in at 8:30 was in my room by noon. I spent the night there because I got weak and had some nausea at night. I did not have much pain did not have to take the pain killers prescribed. Gas is uncorfortable but by day five they are mostly gone. You must walk, walk, walk. I also burped a lot and it made me feel better. I am a big Cry Baby and it has been a lot less painfull than I anticipated. Hope everything goes well with you. If you have any questions just ask.

    Good Luck.

  3. I am still having fears!!!! How does it feel when you take that first sip after surgery? I am so afraid of choking and getting things stuck?

Just take a little sips. I could only have 1oz every 15 min.

I felt every time I sipped I burped at the beginning. But It's not bad. Since it's liquid it won't really get stuck.

I am a BIG CRY BABY and this has been a lot less painfull that I anticipated. My mom actually said she was so proud of me because I am not complaining much. It's mostly unconfortable because of the gas.

    Good luck keep us posted.

  4. Good luck to you!! Are you going to be overnight, or same day?

I'm going to be overnight when I have my surgery, but from what I am told the rooms that I will be in are like hotel suites. Private rooms, pullout bed sofa for a guest, flat screen televisions, private bath, wireless internet...BUT I hear the food service sucks!:tt2:

Be sure to let us know how it all went!

Thanks for your well wishes. I am everything went fine. I was banded at 8;30 and by 6:00 pm was getting ready to leave when I suddenly weak and some nausea so I decided to stay overnight. My room was not like that but the the hospital was pretty nice and the service was excellent. I have not needed to use pain medicine I am just uncomfortable with gas. I am actually at back at work and the hardest part is controlling your desire to eat when everything you can not have smells so good.

  5. I am getting banded on 11/13/07.

Got most of my pre-admission test done. Have to go back friday for blood work cause they could not find my vains today. My surgeon has not telling me to do diet prior to surgery but I think its a good idea so I will start tomorrow. I will be on vacation in Italy the week before surgery so that may be hard.

    Well take care everyone
