Hi Dee! :welcomeB: to LBT and lapband land. Your question reminded me of a post I saw a while back that I've found really useful. Check back and let us know what the doctor said/did. Any savoury liquid breakfast suggestions?
jahair replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you discover that grits do work for you [not everyone loves them], I have a way that would allow you to get Protein (eggs) into the meal in a much less noticeable way. My band prefers liquids in the morning and I find Protein drinks don't really fill the bill. I make the grits fairly thin, add cheese scrambled eggs, season and then throw the whole deal into my Magic Bullet or blender. Voila! Tasty, savory, yummy! Next week, I'll be getting some unflavored Protein powder that I ordered. Maybe I'll add a scoop to the mix before blending to increase the protein levels. Let us know how grits work for you, Jo Ann -
Wheetsin, nice photos. And so beautifully clear. My kudos to the photographer! :clap2: :clap2: Jo Ann

As an ICU nurse then you have been well taught on the nuances of "crazy." I'll bet you've got a mean "crazy family member" routine as well! :Banane48: :Banane17: Please take good care of yourself. Jo Ann

Hi Catalina! Glad to have you on the board. That was a real trial doing the Alaska thing and having to travel so far for fills. It's really good to have you back in the lower 48 and closer to care and support when fills are involved. Enjoy your "honeymoon" and the good feeling that comes from getting back on track. Keep us posted, please. Jo Ann

Don't try to exercise like crazy to make up for all the exercise you never did. It took a while to get unfit -- it will take some time to get fit. The reason for the soreness is a build up of lactic acid in the muscles which happens when we overexert ourselves. Some nice things you can do for yourself when that happens: 1. Drink more Water 2. Soak in a nice hot bath -- I use Epsom salts, Whole Foods sells something called Bath Therapy. 3. Drink more water 4. Gently stretch out the muscles. If you have someone to help you get the best stretch, that's ideal. They should be able to do that for you at the end of the work out at Curves. 5. Drink more water 6. And the number 1 absolutely BEST thing you could do is get a massage! 7. Drink more water!! Good luck, Jo Ann

Hey Malice, I'm betting you are on pins and needles waiting to hear something. It's too bad they wouldn't give you a little snippet of information for all the trouble you've gone through! Is there anything different about having the endoscopy than it was pre-band? I've received my notice that it is time to schedule my next endoscopy and I was curious about that. Thanks, Jo Ann

This is the first I had heard of it and it looks interesting. It looks like it began in the New York area. Here's the BBB rating on it. Click here: Business Report » ZONE CHEFS, LLC » The Better Business Bureau of New York Let us know what you think of it when it arrives. Thanks, Jo Ann

Please tell me more about the term "consultant." We don't use that here in the US. Also, is there no procedure for an "emergency" unfill? Jo Ann

I like the way your brain works. Keep up the good work and thanks for the laff! Jo Ann -
Muggles, please make that appointment right away for the unfill and to be seen about the scalp and skin problem. Who cares if it is band related or not ? This is just another part of the general misery you are in right now. My guess is that you are in so much mental and physical distress that it almost has you paralyzed. Please take care of yourself. I'm guessing it must be late afternoon in England. Is it too late to make the call today? Jo Ann

Hi Denise and :welcomeB: to lapband talk! I am still near the start of my weight loss journey so I don't have the information you need to answer your question, but someone with a lot more experience than I will probably have an answer for you. I just wanted to welcome you to the group and let you know that we're here when you have questions. Here's a link that will explain a lot of abbreviations that are used on the board. Don't tell anyone but I rather enjoyed the mushies stage after I figured out that I could eat regular food like I gave my family. All I had to do was put everything that I was serving them into the blender with a little hot Water, pour it into a cup you can't see through (the color is not great) and spoon my way home. It's amazing how much like dinner it tastes when it is all mushed together. Like tonight -- I just had a fill this morning and am told to eat soft foods for 48 hours. For dinner we had left over turkey with fat free gravy, left over mashed potatoes, left over side dish that had pineapple and cheese (it tastes way better than it sounds!), and left over cranberry sauce. Everything went into the blender, and when it ate it, I could identify each of the main ingredients. I had one rule for DH and my kids -- NO comments allowed about what Mommy is eating. Not the color or texture. Have fun! Get creative! Jo Ann

Second fill today There were only 2. cm left from original fill of 1.0. Now at 1.5 cm. So far so good. Now let's see how the body does with this new information. The scale isn't changing but my husband comments that there is less of me to hug. What wonderful words!! Jo Ann -
Melb / Vic Bandsters - Christmas Picnic

Thanks, Goanna Jo Ann -
Congratulations on your band date. I know how excited you must be! My suggestion is to go on the cruise and on the way back home get your first fill. Everyone reacts differently to the fill process and when they feel restriction; some say over a week for them. So if it were me, I would not like to be out in the middle of the ocean potentially being overfilled or having golfballs and/or PBing. Best wishes, Jo Ann

How much water 5d post-op?
jahair replied to asanz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely! If there is no pain or stuck feeling, drink away! Jo Ann -
BK Grandma and Muggles, You are the best example of what this board is about -- the opportunity to find someone who has walked in your shoes, and knows EXACTLY how you are feeling. This honest exchange between you has so much power to heal you both and to teach the rest of us about true courage. This board has so much "happy talk" most of the time that it takes courage to say it isn't fun at all, and I acknowledge you both for that. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Hey Andre! :welcome: to lap band land. I just answered someone else's question about a PB, so I'll copy what I wrote to her and offer it to you. Take care of yourself, follow the Dr. orders about water and walking. Good luck, Jo Ann A PB refers to later when you are eating solid foods and have restriction. Food goes in, does not go down, returns to your mouth in original form. Not vomiting, because no bile involved. Accompanied by "sliming" and your heartfelt promises to never do again whatever it was you did that started this whole thing! So take a deep breath and calm yourself. At less than a week post surgery, it is highly unlikely that you are eating anything solid enough to make a PB. It is very likely that you are burping because your abdomen was pumped with CO2 (or something similar) to give the surgeon a clear field to work in. Burping and farting and walking are good -- they do no harm to the band. Here's a link to common abbreviations you will see on LBT. Detoxing and Getting Personal with My Toilet
jahair replied to Lap_dancer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You bet, the bad stuff has to get out in any way it can. You wouldn't want it to stick around would you? You might expect to feel flu like symptoms for a couple of days -- that is perfectly normal too. Keep your eye on your goal --strange feelings along the way are nothing when you consider the final result that you are going for. You go girl!! :clap2: :clap2: Jo Ann -
