  1. I'm not a DC drinker, but I was a Mr. Pibb "feen". I had to remind myself that this procedure was a HUGE decision and that NOTHING is worth me screwing up this "last-ditch" effort.

It's been a full-month post-op. Last week while I was on a 7-day cruise, I thought I would jump overboard to tast a soda. Guess what, I ordered 1, took a sip--- I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED. The hype behind the crave wasn't worth the cheat or the $2.50 for that little aluminum can.

I learned a valuable lesson: Continue to CONQUER cravings as most often it won't be worth the cheat or extra calories. Hang in there !!!!!

  2. It's been 3 weeks since surgery for me. I'm pretty much eating whatever I want, after chewing the "heck" out of it. I've realized that I can't eat as much as I'm accustomed to, I get the uncomfortable "full" feeling and I just stop. I can't tell you how much food I've had to either throw out or save until the next day because of this. I figure my brain has to catch up with the band's ability to restrict. I'm so concerned about making sure I don't do anything to cause the band to move until I make sure I don't overeat or overdrink ANYTHING !!!!

  3. I finally had my surgery on Aug 20th. My entire experience with Real Results and Dr. Duncan has been AMAZING !!!

I would recommend him to ANYONE. He thinks of everything up front. It's been 5 days and I have not had ANY problems, no throwing up, no problems with swallowing, etc. I am sore where I was punctured. But those punctured areas look fabulous in comparison with other people's incisions/punctures that I've seen. Again, based on all the stories I've read from other people from around the country, it would be worth flying in from anywhere just to have Dr. Duncan performed the procedure.

    ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS !!!:(

  4. Revolver: I just personally wanted to say welcome and to tell you that the 6 mos will pass before you know. I remember being where you are in January and thinking 6 mos is so far away and I finally had my surgery on Aug 20. One of the things I did EVERYDAY was visited this site to read the stories of others to keep me motivated during the 6 mos.

Hang in there, it will be worth it !!!!:)

  5. Day 3 Post-Op and all is well. No major issues at all. However, I am STARVING. Having a soft scrambled egg right now would taste like steak. However, doctor's office said NOT YET.

I am really struggling. The 1 motivator, I've lost 10 lbs since Friday's surgery. I know it's because I'm starving, but still seeing the scale go in the opposite direction is a very welcomed changed !!!

  6. Hello Fellow August Banders:

My journey officially began on yesterday (Banded and Hernia Repair). I can honestly say that I'm doing pretty good. It's almost scary. I did not know quite what to expect, especially with having the repair. I've not had any problems downing my liquids. I'm gonna add my Protein shake today and see what happens. My only discomfort is the expected soreness around my incisions, but I'm convinced that I have the most experienced and greatest Bariatric doctor in the world, Titus Duncan.

I would recommend him and his office (Real Results) to anyone interested.

So excited about my New Life, unsuccess is not an option for me or any of us. Here's to our NEW LIVES !!!

  7. I totally understand.

With my husband and I explained to him up front that this decision is ABOUT ME for health reasons and I plainly put, I wanna look good. It has to be about you. I've know of women who lost weight and went from mediocre to GORGEOUS, and they're mean still cheated on them. So it's not about keeping them, it's about living to the fullest potential of YOU. And no I don't advocate being selfish, but as wives and moms sometimes we spend years at becoming "selfless" and I personally had to realized that it's ok to take care of ME.

    I wish you well...

  8. I am so-o-o sorry you're feeling such pain.

I was just banded yesterday (8-20-10) which also included hernia repair and I can honestly tell you that I'm feeling fine, aside from the soreness around my incision areas.

I didn't know what to expect because of having both and I'm convinced that I had the best doctor in the world to perform this surgery, Dr. Titus Duncan (Metro Atlanta). During Pre-op he provided prescriptions for liquid pain killer and nausea to keep regurgitation at a minimum.

Make sure you're sleeping on your back. Perhaps you need to give your body a little more time to heal.

I wish you well and will be praying for you !!!

  9. I understand how you feel. I was in the same boat weeks ago and I was mortified as well. All I can say is, my doctor and his staff really knew what they were doing, by the time I "came to", they were telling me it was time to go. My throat had that little "sore throat" feeling for a couple of hours, other than that, YOU'LL BE FINE !!!

Believe me, I was more scare about the EGD than the actual surgery, so I definitely know how you feel !!!:)

  10. I'm in the Pre-Op phase, but I can honestly say my experience with the True Results office in Atlanta has been awesome. Because my professional life is so busy, I absolutely LOVE their 1 stop-shop approach to walking you through the process of all the many steps required for this journey. Many of the appointments that needed to be made, even off-site places, were made right there in their office to make sure they were taken care of. SO-FAR-SO-GOOD !!!
