  1. HI all,

Well its just over one year since I was banded and I am rather disappointed. I have only lost 17 lbs and even when having a cup of tea I vomit most days!

I was due to see Dr Chris tomorrow in London but he has had to cancel coming and the other Chris is coming instead. I have canceled as want to talk to Dr Chris.

However, I am away for work from Tuesday until October half way across the world.... ahhhhhh...

    Any thoughts?

    JB

  2. Hi All,

I know how Scooby feels, I had my band fitted in Feb 2010, I have a 7 ml band and am at 6.75 ml and I have only lost 8 kg and I can hardly swallow anything not mushie. I am fed up with this. It was supposed to be a new start for me and to help me but I am sick at least 5 times a day. I was just sick now having Water.

I swim and walk 6 days a week and nothing much is happening. I am now going on holiday and am wondering about a de-fill a) for the flight as I have heard it can hurt and :smile2: so I can enjoy plenty of fish.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    JB

  3. having a major panic at the moment have just been reading threads that say you have to give yourself stomach injections after your op is this true? its the first time i've read this :smile2:

    Hi Sussie,

Yes you do and I was horrified when I read this and got it confirmed, however, if you have a friend with you they can do this and the other option is to ask your Nurses at your local surgery. I did that and they did my injections every day for me. I have a total phobia about needles and even when I had the surgery they had to gas me. It is really not bad at all. Good luck.

  4. Hi JB

Have clicked on which one you are!!! :wink2: I was also banded the 5th by Dr C...went down after you!! I've lost 18lb since the band was fitted but have been exercising and have to admit that I started pureed food after a week cos I was so bored of Soup and slimfast shakes! Have had a dabble with a bit of salmon too...don't seem to have much restriction so was gonna go for a fill this week, but have decided against it until next month!

Bought a cross trainer so been using that and generally feeling fab! Maybe you're not eating enough hun....maybe by having some pureed food it'll kick start your weight loss!!

Have you been steering clear of high fat milk, yoghurt etc?

How's it all been going in general? Are you still in the UK, or have you gone back to India?

    Lotsa loves xxx

    Hi Tracy

You got it right, not happy but then again I took a bad fall one week back and fractured 3 ribs so can't exercise at all. I am on semi skimmed milk and fat free yoghurt.

I can hardly move because of the ribs. Even breathing is a pain!! Literally!!!

I want a fill asap.... they will not do until 4 weeks past the operation.

I am really pleased to hear of your loss, its fantastic and keep going girl.

    Hope all else is well.

    love

    xxxx

  5. Hi

I am not worried about the flu as I have it right now, I just hope it goes in time!! Yeah it is a bit of a problem going all the way and not being sure it can be done as no consultation before. But I don't know how many get turned down. My worry is about the after care and how long it will be needed, I normally live overseas and so having this done in Belgium and then having to stay in UK for about 6 months is a lot for me. In someways I am really looking forward to it but am also apprehensive..... I am going on my own and so there is that also. How are you getting there, they have stopped the flights from Birmingham - what about Manchester?

  6. Hi Jersey

If there is no one from this thread who will be banded at the same time as you there will be a thread for people in general who will be banded at the same time as you. You should be able to find it on the home page. x

    Hi Carriejess,

Thanks for that, have had a look but not found.... such is life!! Was wondering are there any food you can't eat after the band? x

  7. Have you contacted the practise nurse at your gp,s surgery, she might be able to do them for you or a local pharmacy might be able to help. Good luck.

    Have

    Hi Have,

Thanks for that, my problem is that I am a temporary resident in the UK and am in different places because of my work. I need to get the fills here too, I will be in the UK for 6 months or so and being a temporary resident is causing me a problem with the Dr's. I actually have to go to the nurse at the surgery tomorrow for something else so will be asking.

    Thanks.

  8. HI JB

I had a few ops and was in hosp for 3 weeks. I was give the same injections (blood clotting) in the hospital but in the end I asked if I could stop and the Consultant said I could only stop if I took plenty of exercise (which conisted of walking up and down the ward every half hour during the day). I know Dr Chris has said that we must take the injections but if you double check with your own GP I'm sure if you took a bit of exercise you might be able to avoid them. Please DO NOT take my word on this double check with a GP or Nurse.

    Hope this helps.

    Debs

    Hi Debs,

Thanks a million for the info, will check with GP and see as it will be very difficult to get done otherwise. Even if their nurse will do it would be helpful.

I hope all gets better for you soon.

    JB

  9. Hi Please dont worry I am a needle phobic and this was my worst fear, but I am on day 5 tomorrow with no problems and no pain, stick them in my fattest bit!! lol.... Homecare coughs getting better but now come out in an allergic reaction to the Patches covering my scars..... Hey ho onward and upward to day 10!! ha ha

    Hi Oliverdog,

Thanks for the encouragement, however, I still cannot see myself doing the injections!! I have asked a friend if she will but she just said NO!! So not sure where to go with this - Ideas anyone?????

I hope you get over the coughs and the scars heal so you can get rid of the patches. Good luck.
