  1. I tried cold turkey to give up coffee! Caffeine withdrawals were horrible! Not to mention at work i park in the same parking lot where there is a Dunkin Donuts. Drank it fAithfully for 3 yrs! Is there any way for me to continue drinking my morning coffee? ! My job depends in it!!! Lol

I had my mother bring me a cup of coffee to the hospital, and stopped on the way home for another. I have it with french vinalle Creamer and splenda. I do add up the calories and add them to my daily count. I had surgery 2 years ago, and have lost 70 pounds so far.

  2. I am sad to say that their isn't very much that you can do but wait. Everyone's hair reacts differently, and some people don't lose any. I wasn't one of those people. I eventually had to cut it all off, and just wait for it to grow back. It took about year, but it is coming back thicker than before.

P.S. I lost 70 pounds, and I think the Hair loss was worth it. If I had a chose to do it again, I would.

  3. Yay!!!!! Can't wait to get to goal...25 pounds to go and somewhat a struggle, I need to remind myself that it is truly a journey that can't always be rushed to make it right.

Isn't that last 25 pounds something else? I have the same amount until I get to goal, and can't seem to lose any more weight. I have been stuck for 6 months. I will keep plugging away though. Sooner or later it's got to come off.

  4. Be aware that former bandsters who convert to the sleeve may be delighted with their sleeve mainly because their band was so troublesome, not because the sleeve isn't troublesome.

I lost my band in April and had sleeve surgery in August. The good news is that I've lost 12 lbs since then. The bad news is that my physical hunger (which supposedly disappears because of reduced grehlin production) is fierce. I can eat only a few bites of solid food at a time and get ravenously hungry an hour later. It's a pain when I'm at home, but a real problem when I'm at work and am not allowed to eat or drink except when I'm on my 15-minute break, during which time it's almost impossible to eat a sustaining amount of food. The other bad news is that I experience dumping if I overeat, eat too fast, or eat anything with more than 5 or so grams of sugar in it. You'd be astonished at how much sugar some "healthy" foods contain, like skim milk with 12.4 grams per 8 oz serving. I had been told that VSG patients don't dump because the pyloric valve is preserved (unlike RNY), but my surgeon says it can happen because my tiny new stomach can't store or churn food for very long, so it dumps the food into my intestines fast enough to make me hot, sweaty, dizzy, and very nauseated.

I hope that none of that will happen to you, but beware of the rosy picture some ex-bandsters paint about the sleeve. Results not typical, you know....

Thank you for posting some of the negatives of converting to the sleeve, I never see any of them. I was debating, but I think I will keep my band.

  5. I eat whatever I want as far as sweets, etc go.

The only thing I could honestly say I will miss eating is this delicious hot beef/mozzarella cheese/cream cheese/pepper sandwiches that this local shop makes. We only used to get them a couple times a year, but I wouldn't be able to handle the bread anymore. And fresh french bread :)

    OMG...... That sounds sooooo good...lol

  6. Please make No Mistake, When I make my posting it may appear that I am being Overly Religious But, I am Not!! My Mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers there of.

Bad days are still blessed days if you are still alive. There have been times when I have felt down and alone, and a post from someone here gave me the strength I needed to move forward. I thank God for them and you, and yes for this lapband forum. Not only do we have bands, but we have other real life issues, and some of us unfortunately have no one else to talk to. So in saying that,God uses who and what he chooses to bless others. I hope all of you have a magnificiently blessed day!!!!!!

  7. Hey! Two Halfs Wow! Yes for me the races help me to train ... If its a Tri then I train so I don't drown LOL but they all provide a focus point and motivation. The hardest training isn't for the run/events ... It's when my entire training was 30 seconds total ... It's very hard to "feel" like you are doing anything in the beginning but those are the very steps that change peoples lives !

Kudos to you for your new motivation and past accomplishments

This is off topic, but I looked at your profile, and you look wonderful. Great job, and congratulations!!!!!! Keep doing what your doing.

  8. Maybe if you prayed hard enough god would have helped you have the will power to succeed without the lapband. Just saying. All christians no altering your body is not #1 on gods plan. block me if you wish but I'm on the liquid diet and would rather not be called Nasty for simply stating that if you post on the lap band forum it should be related to lapband in some way. That's all. Respond if you wish but I feel like I've had my fill of this place for a while.

  9. Hi, my name is Kim and I am still here, and still believing God in this journey. I am so happy for your weightloss, and know that you feel wonderful. I have lost 60 pounds, and still struggling to lose 30 more, but I know I can do all things through Christ who strenghthens me. I was banded in January of 2010.

  10. What I miss the most is the ability to drink an ice cold pepsi. Man, I didn't realize the enjoyment I get from that. I also miss the ability to eat a cheeseburger and fries, or pizza. I would not choose to give back the 70 pounds I have lost for anything, but I do miss the ability to eat as before. I just ate to much of it...lol

  11. You are hillarious.

All you ladies are such sweeties... taking this type of stupidity with such grace. It's a good lesson for me to learn from all of you rolleyes.gif

But back to the OP's statements.... what is the PURPOSE of your post? Who (or what) are you calling dumb?

Your post is so ambiguous and vague that I can't discern a reason why someone would waste their time to start such a thread.

Are you reaching out for support because you're not getting the results you wished? Or are you just venting because AUNT FLOW has come to visit you?? (Yes...I see that you're a male.... blink.gif)

I haven't bothered to look at your profile... but others have said that you're 25? Well....so am I. At your age (and mine)... if you're so sick of dieting and exercising... why are you expecting ANY weight loss?

I'm sure your surgeon and his team told you that diet and exercise would still be needed to facilitate weight loss even after LAGB surgery right? Or did you buy a band on Fleabay and have one of your homies put it in for ya?

Also... do you have a problem with surgeons making a lot of money?? Do you have any idea the grueling education and residency they have to get through to be where they are?

To me... 4 years of med school with 4+ years of residency (not to mention 100Ks in debt) to become a surgeon SHOULD warrant a high paycheck.

I apologize for being harsh... but if you need support... ASK for it. There are great people here willing to walk with you every step of the way. But please don't insult everyone's intelligence by boldly (and idiotically) stating that LAGB is a scam and a joke.

  12. I switch my exercise up a bit. I do the bike for 60 minutes everyday. I then do the elliptical or treadmill for 30 minutes. I don't do a lot of strength training, but I did buy a kettle

bell and a dvd, and I do that twice a week for 30 minutes. I haven't lost weight fast but I am losing. I have lost 70 pounds since my surgery in January of 2011.

  13. I am sorry to tell you that with some of us the hair loss is common with this surgery. I took all the Vitamins, even the ones especially for Hair loss. I also got in at least 80 grams of Protein a day. My surgery was in January of 2010, and I have lost half of my hair. I just recently cut it all off to even it out, and brought myself a nice wig.

I have lost 70 pounds in the process, so I do not regret any of it. Someone asked me was it worth it. My hair for the 70 pounds. I told them that I can always buy hair, but I couldn't always lose this weight.... LOL It will get better, but it will take awhile.
