  1. Hi Hun, I`ve put you down for 15lbs & diet monitoring. Well done for the weight loss so far. I feel that when you have less weight to loose, it comes off slower than average. Considering that you`ve already lost 3 stones, wow! In regards to the daily menu, I`m currently very tight in the mornings so I start the day with a glass of Water and/or coffee. I will then at mid-morning eat 2-3 oat crackers or half of toasted wholemeal bagel with either humous, pate, melted camerbert cheese, cream cheese, fried or scrambled egg & Peanut Butter (sometimes combine 2 / 3 accompliments). I sometimes have just Protein Drink for Breakfast. I prefer having breakfast daily but sometimes do not manage to get anything down. For lunch (mid-afternoon), I`ll have couscous with sardines & salsa sauce or variety of pulses / Beans with lamb mince / corned beef. I also eat sushi. I try to eat a variety of fruits but don`t manage to keep most fruits down. For dinner, I`ll have breast of chicken / prawns / scallops / mussells / snapper / tilapia with vegetables & rice / couscous / quinoa. I have greek, onken or fage with honey or a handful of mixed nuts for Snacks. I drink a lot of water (2-4ltrs a day). The above items are not exclusive. I just make sure that I eat a lot of protein and monitor my intake, especially now that I`m desperate for a fill. Almost all my intake are home-made but I`m not always good, I`m occassionally naughtie / mischievious. Yesterday, for instance, I had porridge with carnation evaporated milk with splenda for breakfast (half came back out) For lunch I had sushi. Dinnertime, I had a few pieces of roasted chicken breast, prawn & raisens mixed with couscous and salsa sauce. I had 2 oat crackers with melted camerbert cheese for snack. Hope the above helps, hun.
  2. Great achievement, hun. I`m also proud of you and you are inspirational to me already. I`ve put you down for 19lbs, exercise & inspirational. I hope the dreadful plateau passes soon. Thanks for joining.
  3. So sorry to read about your loss, hun. You remain in my thoughts.
  4. Our surgi-versary / band-versary is in 3 months or less and I feel that an accountability thread will encourage / motivate us to set goals for ourselves in preparation towards our 1st anniversary. I know I need this and I am going to keep it going until October. Please join me if you can or chip in with encouragement / guidance at any point since it is most needed. Of course bandsters from other months who wish to do so can join in. I know that some of us would have reached their weight goals already but they can set other targets. Any goal goes, be it dietry, weight, exercise, cloth size etc. I will start by reporting that I had my surgery on the 20th of October last year. I have lost 65lbs since the surgery (slow but sure) and 79lbs since my first consultation a month before surgery. I always count the weight loss from surgery date so I will go with 65lbs. My weight this morning was 180lbs. My goal is to lose 35lbs more and increase my exercise routine by the 20th of October. I will weigh every Friday and report on what is happening with my weight loss journey intermittently, possibly daily till the band-versary. Please join me. It will be fun and the peer support will be appreciated. Group & Goal by Band-versary........................... 5. Just touching base. Hope you`re all doing well and melting away. The weight loss has been pretty slow but steady for me, about 1lb a week. That`s ok though. I`m well restricted now so I hope to go a bit further by October. Can`t wait to reach goal. Have an enjoyable summer.
  6. On this isde of the pond, mothers` day was in March but I will join yours and hope to lose about 10lbs by then. I will weigh myself tonight.
  7. You don`t necessarily have to give up chocolate but may be you need to monitor the intake. You appear to be doing all the right things though apart from the "sweet" issue. Hang in there, hon.
  8. Joining you in your happiness. You look great, hun. Congrats.
  9. The weight loss is extremely slow but I`ve lost 28lbs now. I`ve already had 2 fills and have got 5.5cc in a 10cc band but I have no restriction at all. I`m still following the band rules though, however difficult. I`m going to have a 3rd fill on Friday. Hopefully the 3rd one will be the one that gives me some restriction. Good luck to all of us on this journey.
  10. Hun, I was not offended at all, I just could not remember including "fair" / "unfair" in my postings and spent a lot of time re-reading my postings. LOL. Life has a habit of taking us through these journeys. Wishing you all the best.
  11. TracyNYC, as you pointed out, it is hard work trying to lose the weight without restriction. Hun, it should not be an issue of fairness / unfairness. Thanks for your contribution. Sorry to hear about your mother`s suffering and death. Hope you are granted the peace required to be able to deal with the pain. I`m sure the people of Haiti are grateful that they are all in our thoughts, prayers and considerations.
  12. What a bunch of lovely people. ElfiePoo, Minimeme, Larraine M, ymjackson1 and Cassieme1, thanks a lot for your comments and advice. Quite helpful. I`m going to be careful with what I eat and get my exercise routine going. I guess if this strange thing in my tummy does not want to play ball at the moment, I have to keep going and try to be kind to myself. I guess I have to work harder that I thought possible with the band.
  13. Juliensmom, Thanks for you response. It gets quite frustrating when you do all that is expected of you but do not appear to be getting anywhere. I will restrain myself from goingon any specific diet until my next fill and discussion with the bariatric nurse / surgeon. I`m hoping that the next fill gives me some form of restriction because as you said, I am currently doing all the work. The band is just not working at the moment. I think a little bit of patience is required. Good luck with your weight loss journey and I will keep you informed of my progress.
  14. I am seriously considering going on a diet and do not know whether it is a good decision. I have been banded for 3 months now and have had 2 fills already, totalling 5.5cc in a 10cc band. My next fill will be on January, 29th. I`m yet to feel restricted and this is somehow frustrating. I`m following all the rules that come with the band and have so far lost 28lbs. I`ve learnt to “throw away” the scales and only weigh myself once a month and as far as I know the scale has never gone the wrong way since the op. I`m not one to compare the pace of my weight loss with others` but I cannot help comparing the pace with my previous extreme weight loss sessions. I would have lost more than twice this weight in 3 months. The unfortunate aspect is that I was then unable to maintain the loss when I came off the diet. One of the diets consisted of milkshakes, soups and bars. The 2nd one consisted of only protein based foods. I`m sure most yo-yo dieters know of these diets. The question I am asking myself now is do I go on a diet whilst I have not got any restriction and then fully utilise the band when I`ve reached my goal to maintain the loss or shall I wait for restriction? I also want to know whether anybody has done this and what effect, if any, it had on their band. I`m seriously struggling with this and need support and advice in this decision making.
  15. Wow, congrats on your weight loss so far. Hun, research indicates that only a handful of people get restriction with the 1st fill. I was banded a day before you did, have had 2 fills and still haven`t got restriction and have definitely not lost as much weight as you have. I think you`re due for another fill now since it does not sound that you are restricted.
  16. Just wondering why you need to be on liquid until Sunday. It`s usually a day of liquid. If you`re that hungry, can`t you have some yoghurt, Soup or some sort of mushy food? You`ve lost considerable amount of weight without a fill for so long though. Well done, hun. Hope the hunger situation subsides soon.
  17. You will have had the surgery by the time you read this but congrats on the remaining of your journey. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
  18. Congrats for reaching the onederland. Good work done. Merry Christmas to you too.
  19. Thanks for the card. Merry Christmas to you too. Happy and melting New Year to us all.
  20. Good luck with the surgery on the 22nd. It will be good to see you on the losers` bench
  21. I had my surgery on 10/20. Home now and went to work yesterday. It was slightly painful and tiring. The running to the loo has to stop 4 days post op, according to my surgeon. You run because of the horrible liquid you drink whilst having your post op x-ray. Wishing all Oct. re-borns speedy recovery and those that are still waiting, good luck. In regards to the list, I`ll wait till the last day in Oct. to add myself back on it since I keep being dropped off it.
  22. Shar Pei and Nooshie, Congrats. You`re on the other side now. Already on the looser`s bench. NJ and akame, persevere with the liquid diets, although I feel like a fraud saying that since I did not have to go through that. My surgeon only requires 2 weeks low fat diet but I `ve done many a liquid diets so I know how difficult it is. The unfortunate aspect is that just as you get into ketosis (it gets easier then), you will have to come out again via the surgery. Come on, you can do it!!! akame, shares same op day with you. Deekel, good to hear tumor was nothing and op going ahead on Monday. Good luck to all of us yet to be banded.
  23. Congratulations, Guy, Question09 and all the other October Bandsters. A few of us still waiting to go in, so Good Luck to the rest of us.
  24. My op is scheduled for 10/20. Looking forward to it but the days and nights are moving too slow. Thankful though, that I was not put on liquid diet by my surgeon. Congrats to all the October Bandsters who have had their ops already. Good Luck to the rest of us.
  25. Yeah, my surgery is on the 20th and I can`t wait. My surgeon did not let me do liquid diet/ He advised I did low fat one. God knows I`ve done enough liquid diets to last me a lifetime. The various faddy diets which led to 2 decades of yoyo dieting. hope for good results for all of us.
