  1. Lol well maybe you will decide you don't like it either. I liked Diet Green tea by lipton, and 0 cal Lifewater. I am totally amazed that I could let diet coke go... I do have a cup of coffee in the morning still but the biggest part of my caffiene had gone bye bye.... Best of luck!!!!
  2. I read that it is not a bad thing if you let it get a little flat. I was a diet coke fanatic but after surgery, I did not want it. I tried one about two weeks out after letting it go flat and figured out I did not like it any more... Weird but true. Try it and see how it goes. As long as it does not hurt you are fine!!!!

  4. I found that the meaning of full is different after banding. I had trouble in the beginning identifying it until it was too late. If newbies are expecting the same feeling as before banding, they will be as confused as I was. I identify it now by noticing that the food no longer is enjoying to eat either taste or texture. When that happens, I stop. Those times when I have accidentally overfilled, I am satisfied for less time. Hope this helps someone!!!
  5. Of course they do 1cc at a time for the money!! Especially if you have insurance. I have a chiropractor who is trained by my doc. who also has a band. He is reasonable and not likely to over charge. Best of luck on that!!!!

    I worried about the same things. The first thing I did was buy liquid glucose from the pharmacy. There is a liquid and a Gel. I discovered that both of them act faster than glucose tablets anyway. A lot faster. My Lap Band doctor was very knowledgeable about diabetes and instructed me to cut my insulin in half. I did that and had no trouble. He also told me not to take any on the morning of the surgery. I worried about that and I was 288 by the end of the day. I spent a little time being upset over this, but it turned out to be fine. I just adjusted it and did not have any trouble with lows at all. My insulin requirements have remained at half or less since the surgery. I have had no trouble losing. I started walking the day after the surgery and am now up to 2 miles a day with one of those miles being up hill. It is a good work out. I do low carb and have for the last 10 years anyway. I managed to do it with the liquid stage also. Maybe that is why I did not have trouble losing weight. Also I am 58 years old. I wish you the best and would be happy to help you with anything along the way....

  8. One more tip. Being pissed off is counter productive. It keeps you from seeing the answers that are there all the time. Let the anger go, and pick up where you left off. You may be really surprised at what comes along....
  9. You really do need to get more protein and less carbs into you somehow. I don't think you will mind it after you see how much less hungry you are. It may take a few weeks though. Also I found that when I eat smaller meals, I am actually less hungry. Instead of filling your pouch until you feel physically full, measure 1 1/2 cups and see how that is. Mostly protein and a few vegs... Try it what do you have to lose?
  10. It is my opinion that some are undiagnosed pre-diabetics. When this is the case, and they are on liquids, they tend to choose juices and pop sickles etc. The sugar in these, causes a spike in blood sugar and then soon it drops a little too low. Both of these scenarios cause extreme hunger. Protein low carb liquids help this a lot. Also staying away from sugar helps.

    Yes as a type 2 you are very likely to get off of medication. Good for you getting banded!!! Any weight loss for us is a good thing. I am excited to see what happens also....

    I am type one for the last 35 years. I am three weeks post op. I am already taking less than half of the insulin I was. I don't expect to ever be completely off of insulin but it really helps to eat mostly protein and very little carbs. I am committed to that for the rest of my life. I am healthier than I have ever been because I have done the low carb thing for the last 10 years. I plan to do it for the rest of my life. As for insulin? Who knows we will have to wait and see. So far I am down 14 lbs.... Best of luck!!!!
  14. I actually liked chicken broth and I still use it for part of my liquid intake. I made it hot and it hit the spot!! For mushies I got soup to go. (Cambells) There are a couple that don't have very many carbs. Also, mashed potatoes. I like mashed cauliflour!! Sounds gross but you should try it!! Yum!!!

    My band & I are now good friends!!

    The key is to be really positive and upbeat. I have figured this out after reading through tons of these posts. You two have it dialed. I love it!!! I am 3 weeks post op and feeling so much better. My jeans actually fit and I already have more energy and feel better about myself. I am so lucky to be able to get a tool that will help me with my efforts. Have a great week!!!

    I had some of that too. I am three weeks post op and feel great now. After reading through tons of these blogs, I think the key is to stay positive. Now that we have a wonderful tool to help us, we can do what we have been unsucessful at in the past. I am excited now and ready for a totally new and thinner life...
  20. I found the key to the liquid stage was protein. I found ways to do protein because I am diabetic and can not do any type of sugar. I made soup and added melted cheese, I got protein drinks from a bariatric web site that had very low carbs, I put things in the blender and thinned them with chicken stock. I even bought baby food chicken and beef and thinned it with broth. It worked, it kept me from being hungry..... D......
  21. I have spent time trying to figure out what full is. I was banded three weeks ago. I can eat a lot too and have a couple of times, but if I don't eat too much, I am satisfied longer. Lately I have quit eating as soon as the food stops tasting really good. It works, I just drink water and I am feeling like I found the answer. At least I hope so.......
  22. I had one other thought here. I am diabetic, and have been banded now for three weeks. I have not had the hunger but I am very big on protein. I don't use any sweet drinks, or even sugared jello. The reason is because it helps me keep my blood sugar even. If I feel hungry, I check to see if my blood sugar is high or low, which is the only reason for me be be hungry. I have said all this to say this. It is hard to do liquids and not do too much sugar. When we gain weight around our middle, it means we have at least some insulin resistance. So we are producing not enough at times and too much at other times. When we don't have enough insulin, or to much, we are hungry. If you who are hungry can find a way as I did to get more protein and stay away from all sugary drinks I believe you will find the hunger diminishing as your blood sugar levels out.

  24. I also have only told a couple people outside of my family. I live in a small town and figured I would not even be able to eat out without people staring at me. Also for me there is a little part of me that wonders if I will even lose with the band as everything else has failed. I may change my mind at some point but for now, I tell them I went on a little four day trip. That is all. I don't feel guilty about it because I feel it is personal. We do have to do the same things as other dieters, we just get to have a tool to help us along the way. Congrats on your sucess!!!!
  25. I think it is a mistake to seek others opinions about something so personal. You can never please everyone, you can go crazy trying. You have to take responsibility and just do what feels right way down in your heart. I think you already know what that is. I only have a BMI of 33 also, and I just found someone who would do it, I was sure it was right for me, and I am totally glad I did it. The best way to keep from offending others, is to just not tell them. I live in a small town, so I did not want people to know until I was sucessful with weight loss. I am losing and a few have noticed, but I am still not ready to tell them how I am doing it. One other thought. Say you decide not to do it because of what others think!! Would you be able to live your life without resenting them at least a little? Just food for thought!!!! D....
