    What can't you eat??

I had a big surprise last night. I had been thinking I didn't have as much restriction as last week, because food was going down well. I ate some steak that I had cooked all day in the crock pot, and was really soft. I was full in about 3 bites but pushed a little more because I thought I was wrong. I think it was the steak. I have been able to eat it in the past but now I am not so sure. I brought some with me to work today, so I will carefully try some more. Hope it works.
  2. I got a fairly aggressive fill and it was my first. I did not have to go back for an unfill even though I wondered a time or two. I am sure it happens fairly often though so I guess you have do what you have to do. Best of luck with it.
  3. Well maybe, but did they tell you to do liquids after your fill? Even if they didn't some people really need to do this. I do, but I was instructed to do it. Anytime you get stuck, you need to go back to liquids for 12 hours.
  4. Let it come up but realize that you will be swollen for about 24 hours. Go back to liquids for at least 12 hours. You should have been on liquids for a day after your fill anyway. For those who believe it needs to come up, try three large swallows of water. Be near the toilet because you won't have much time.
  5. I gained during the liquid stage. I had to do them after my fill for a couple days and gained weight. After I got back on real food, I was able to lose them. I think we actually end up with more calories but don't know the real reason.

    What can't you eat??

I can't eat pizza toppings!! I stay away from carbs so if the family is having pizza, I eat the toppings. Not after my fill. No matter what they are out!! Weird I know. My daughter can't eat chicken but eats everything else.
  7. you are swollen. Do liquids for a 12 hour period then mushies for another 12. Start solids gradually and chew chew chew!!!!
  8. Just eyeball them. Don't eat more than the size of your fist and choose protein as much as possible!!!

    Which Food Plan After Lapband?

1/2 to 1 1/2 cups of food. That is pretty much it. I only eat protein and green vegetables. If you feel you need it, you can add a serving of fruit or whole grains with your protein. Bandsters have the most problem with protein, so you will do best if you concentrate on that. Snacking is a no no but if you are truely hungry you can have a small 1oz serving of protein.

    Am I crazy???

I had a fill two weeks before a trip. It was perfect until the night before I left. I ate some pizza toppings and got stuck. My daughter helped me get it back up but the whole next day I was nauseated. I didn't eat or drink anything for about 6 hours then I did a small amount of liquid at a time. By the next morning I was back to normal. We keep trying to eat because we think we need to, but sometimes that is the problem. You might be too tight, but give it a rest and then go slow. It also might be ok......
  11. I have been reading these forums for quite a while, and this is the first time I have heard of getting the band completely full. I would research that if it were me. I have been more worried about being overfilled.
  12. it sounds like an allergy to medication not the band. Alergies are caused, so any medication you have always taken, can suddenly become a problem. Maybe check this out....
  13. Huge workouts are momentous for someone who has been hitting the couch for awhile. I started with small walks, then increased the speed, then increased the distance. Then it made me feel so good, I wanted to do it. Maybe try something small then slowly increase. Best of luck
  14. being overfilled will slow down and even stop weight loss. It doesn't sound possible but maybe if you get just a little taken out, and then do liquids for a day, you will not only feel better, you will lose regularly...
  15. I love the positive ones too. For me, I just thought all those things would not happen to me because I was going to carefully follow the directions!! LOL Needless to say, I have been humbled!! Thanks
  16. I had a fill two weeks before a vacation. Should have probably waited. On the night before we left on the plane, I ate some pizza toppings. After getting stuck, my daughter told me to try drinking several fairly large mouthfuls of water to help wash it out. I didn't think this would work but I barely made it to the bathroom. Needless to say it worked. I got up the offending item but the next day, I had trouble again. I was swollen so I should not have taken my vitamin which I was taking easily before this episode. I was unable to keep down liquid and I was in the process of flying the full length of the country. It ran through my mind that I may have to go to the emergency room. Since I was not arriving at my destination until 11 at night, that was also a challenge. I just stopped eating or drinking anything, and waited. Eventually around 3 in the afternoon, my stomach settled and I was able to drink liquids. I had soup for dinner and waited until the next morning to try anything solid again. I was fine and back to normal by then. Then I tried pizza toppings again, thinking I had just not chewed them enough and ran into the same problem. I had some papaya enzymes in my purse by then, and it made a huge difference. I have now decided that no matter what everyone else is eating I have to avoid pizza toppings. Huge lesson but maybe parts of it will help someone else. Have a great week!!!
  17. I had my first fill two weeks ago, and I felt restriction right away, but since everyone on here says it changes in a couple weeks, I did not know if it was my sweet spot or not. Now I believe it is just perfect. I am so excited because I lost 6 lbs this last week. I really think I am there. Time will tell but Man I can't wear hardly any of my Jeans anymore.
  18. I have a candy store in my town where they have wonderful sugar free chocolate. It has Maltitol, so one or two pieces is enough. The think I like is that you can buy one or two pieces. Perfect!!!
  19. Wow thanks for posting that. I didn't realize that could happen. Sounds like you are on your way!!! Best of luck!!!!
  20. From the posts here and other places, I have determined that the majority need half of their band space filled before they get to restriction. I had 2cc in my 4cc band and I have my restriction. Of course there are people who need more and some need less but hopfully that will give you an idea....
  21. I try to listen to my little voice inside which is new to me, with food anyway. One night, I was starting to realize that I was full, but had a couple bites left so I said to myself, you can just clean that up. I ended up with one bite too much and was very uncomfortable for awhile. Now when I hear that little voice say "you are getting full", I will quit no matter how much is left.....
  22. I am only 8 weeks out, but I have noticed my relationship with food has changed a lot. I am a "glass half full" person, so I actually like that I have to eat tiny amounts. My mother was always little, and I used to watch her eat. She ate slowly, and was always the last one at the table after everyone else had gone to do something else. She could leave one bite of food on her plate. I thought that was amazing. I used to try to be like her, but I wasn't like her so it always failed. So now that I have to eat slow, I like it. I am also very much particular about the things I choose. I start thinking about what sounds truly good about 2 hours before meal time, and I try to have it if it is available. Sometimes I make a trip to the store and get it. Last night I wanted fried chicken, so I got three thighs at the store deli. I ate one and I have two lunches for work left over. By the way, I love chicken skin, but I found it imposible to eat even one bite of that because it never gets chewed. (Glass half full) I don't have to worry anymore about liking chicken skin and not being able to have it because it is fattening. Yippie!!!!

    Itching

I did this too especially in the summer. Mine has subsided since I have lost 23 lbs. but I did have it. Of course it is now winter too, so I don't know exactly what it is, but I did have it....

    Help

I would go back to liquids for 12 hours then plan on really watching bite size and then really chew chew chew. You might have a little bit of swelling. Liquids won't hurt either way, but if you are still worried, call the doc.
  25. I don't know at all but I would be very surprised to actually know that the band cost anyone 3000 to 8000. I saw it in my Dr.s office, and it is only a small piece of plastic. What you see on your bill is the cost plus mark up. This is typical in many businesses but especially anything medical.
