Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Eating something every 2 hours helps keep my metabolism going and is helping with hunger issues until I get my first fill. I am never hungry. But I still stay within a set amount of calories and make sure I get enough protein. Since doing this, the scale's been moving! Not sure if I will be able to do this after my fill but I'll have to wait and see.

7:30- 1 serving goldfish crackers 9:30- 1 packet oatmeal 11:30- 1 applesauce cup 1:30- 1 cup veggie soup & 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese 3:30- 6 whole wheat mini bagel chips w/ 1 wedge light laughing cow cheese 5:30- 5 oz. Merlot (I know) 7:00- 1 slice dominos cheese pizza Total Calories 1180 Even though I stayed well within my calories, I feel guilty for having wine and pizza. Can't wait for my first fill. At least I didn't overdo it. Didn't get enough protein today.
  3. My cravings are back with a vengence. I miss cigarettes, my Friday night mixed drinks, and fried food. Ughhh!!

  5. @ timetobefree. Gaining weight apparently isn't uncommon. I lost 23 lbs on the pre op diet. But once I began full liquids I gained weight. However after a week on mushies, I began to lose weight again. And yes I have counted calories on the mushy stage. I tried not to go over 1200. I've been keeping a food journal. I've been on "regular" food for 2 days now and will be getting my first fill on the 12/14. Hopefully after a while, I wont need the journal and just will naturally make the right choices. But for now, I'm gonna stick with it. Good luck!!

  8. The scale is moving in the right direction!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  9. I am so happy the scale finally moved in the right direction!!! I have given up on not weighing myself. My office is right next door to a health unit. So I can't help myself. Not on it everyday though. It's been about a week since I weighed last. Hope to be pleasantly suprised next Monday as well. Woo Hoo!!!
  10. I also had the SIL procedure. Was banded by Dr. Kurian at NYU. I was told that because I didn't hold most of my weight up top, I qualified for the surgery (pear shaped). I don't think it necessarily has to be related to BMI. I was 316 when she first looked at my stomach and said I may qualify. I was 293 on surgery day. Dr. Kurian also said it also depends on how things look on the inside, if they can't reach everything with the tools through the one incision, then they have to make more incisions. I am glad I ended up with one. Only thing that makes me nervous is I can't find my port. Dr. found it during my first appointment and let me feel it. But I haven't found it again on my own. Paranoid that it flipped because I've had "weird"pain lately that comes and goes. First fill isn't till 12/14. I called the Dr. and they told me to make sure I was having sufficient BM's. If I still have the pain, they said I could come in earlier and get checked out.
  11. Sugery date was 11/17. I also had problems with sleep because I couldn't get comfortable. I was able to sleep on my stomach last night for the first time and I slept like a baby. I had to use sleeping pills a few times while recovering.
  12. I slept on my stomach for the first time last night!! Finally got a full night's sleep.
  13. @ soexcited. You will feel much better once you begin mushy food. I felt icky on liquids too. Just make sure you take your vitamins and if you have a problem with anemia, take extra iron.
  14. My energy level has been better than ever. I've been eating very healthy and making sure to get sufficient calories, protein, vitamins, and water. Haven't had my first fill yet, but trying to start good habits now.
  15. I'm in the same boat!! Not sure what my body's doing but I am gonna stick with it. I hope things turn around for the both of us.
  16. I haven't been blending anything. I eat non fat greek yogurt, tuna, non fat cottage cheese, unsweetened applesuace, high fiber oatmeal, low sodium soup, egg beaters, and low fat cheese. No secret hidden calories, I measure everything and copy the nutrition facts straight from the package. I am gonna stick with it until the 14th and see if my body cooperates. This is usually the stage where I would get fed up and quit a diet and go get a fattening meal from a restaurant and have a few drinks. But at least now, I physically can't do that. I walked for 1 1/2 hours today to work off my frustration.
  17. I'm not drinking any broth right now. I'm in the mushy stage. However, I'm gonna look at my sodium intake. I think its pretty good, but I am gonna track my sodium the next few days.
  18. Okay, I'm totally confused. I was banded on 11/17/09 and I've been following everything to the letter. I walk for an hour everyday and I don't eat over 1100 calories a day (still in mushy stage) I was told not to go too low in calories cause it could stall weight loss. I haven't lost any weight since my surgery. I started at 316, then got down to 293 on the pre op liquid diet. For my first check up on 11/25 I weighed 300lbs!!! What the hell??? So I blamed it on my period (I usually gain about 4 lbs on my period). Cause I KNOW I wasn't eating too much while on the liquid post op diet. So I weighed myself today (even though I said I wasn't going to) and I now weigh 296lbs. I don't understand this at all. I keep a food journal and keep track of EVERYTHING I eat and record calories, protein, carbs, and fiber. I'm gonna stick to what I'm doing and if I haven't lost anything by my appointment on 12/14, I know something's amiss. I'm a bit discouraged right now. If you are losing weight please let me know what you've been doing. HELP!!! Going for my walk after work. Sigh

    BEFORE THE BAND

I didn't know that their chili was low in calories. That's good to know while I'm out and about.

If you have a craving for indian food. Try Trader Joe's Indian Fare. My favorite is Dal Makhani, One serving has 170 cal, 7g fat, 20g carb, 3g fiber, 7g protein. Madris Lentil is another good flavor and has fewer calories.
