I haven't posted in a while. Almost 3 months post op and currently I've lost 12 pounds which is what I lost after three weeks so I've had two months and no weight loss. It seems like I eat nothing so it's a mystery to me how I am not losing. Last night went for chinese because my daughter wanted it. Now normally I would have had three plates at the buffet. Last night I had about 6 pieces of Sweet and Sour Chicken and three bites of rice. That's it. It takes me forever to eat so I have restriction but I am never full. I just stop eating because it takes so long to finish stuff. I'm almost afraid to get another fill because I have to eat so slow now but I haven't lost any weight in two months.... Anyone else in this boat? I know Bellyfat was feeling like this a while back.

    Dr. Charles Morton

I had a consultation the monday after Thanksgiving so it was probably around 11/26 and I had surgery on 12/30. It can be done quickly if you want it done quickly. I have a flexible work day so I was able to go to the psych visit, nutrionist visit and the pre op testing when they had an opening.

Tia, I was self pay so I didn't have to do all that, but I think it has to be six months of dr. monitored weight loss so I am not sure you can to to a consultation with six months of documentation hin hand. Not sure the insurance would accept that. Good Luck.

    Dr. Charles Morton

I was banded 12/30 by Dr. Morton and so far everything has been great, BUT I do not have restriction yet and I've had 3 fills. I know they say it takes three to five but I wanted you to know I'm 2 months out and feel like I did before surgery so do not think it happens overnight. I've only lost 10 pounds since surgery. I did not do a pre op diet so it's been all post surgery weight, but others have lost quite a bit more.

Belly fat: You didn't mention how your fill went. I like you have not lost any weight in almost five weeks. I had my 3rd fill yesterday. I now have 6.7 ccs in a 10 cc band. I ate a bit today - and I noticed some restriction but nothing major. It was only day two so I ate SOFT meatloaf but it went right down and I def think I could have eaten more than 1/2 a cup but I didn't. I've only lost 11 pounds since starting so I'm there with you wondering what exactly is restiction. It confuses me a bit. I understand stuff getting stuck leaving the pouch because that's the area squeezed together and small, but how does stuff get STUCK going in. I mean the size of my throat did not change sizes did it? More confused!!!
  6. I had my 3rd fill today and so far I feel no difference at all. I was at 6 ccs and they put in .7 today so now I am at 6.7. If I dont feel anything in a few days I am going to call and ask to come back in two weeks and not wait the entire four weeks they normally make me wait.

Illumination: Glad the 3rd fill is helping. I am still on fill 2. Only had restriction for a few days after the fill. Now I am back to NO restriction. I lost 11 pounds my first month. 2nd month I have lost no weight. I've given up soda, fast food, starchy foods but no weight loss. No gain but no loss. I get my 3rd fill on 3/2 and I'm going to be aggressive about it. As a self pay I start paying for fills in April so I'm setting up my 4th fill for the end of March. We've had tons of snow so my walking has been reduced but I'm trying to make up for it on the treadmill. Keep me posted on your progress!
  8. Dragonfly: I am also right where you are! Had surgery 12/30 and have only lost about 12 pounds. First month I lost 12 pounds, the 2nd month I lost zero. I have had two fills and still have no restriction. I get my 3rd fill on 3/2 so hopefully we will be on the same page. Please keep in touch with me and we can try to help each other out. I do have tried to watch what I eat but like I said to TJ if I wasn't going to have restriction why did I spend all this money on surgery. Hang in there. I've read where lots of folks get their 3rd or 4th fill and then the weight starts to fall off again. Hopefully this will happen for us!
  9. TJ: I appreciate what you are saying, but let's be serious if anyone or everyone did your entire list no one would need the band. If someone has no restriction then they might as well have saved all their money and and the risk of surgery and just followed your list. If you were able to do that entire list and ONLY eat Protein and veggies which is the ATKINS diet why did you get the band? Just sayin...

Here's my update: I got my 2nd fill 2/2 and for about five days I was very restricted. I posted comments about how everything I was eating was getting stuck except items like Chili. But when I ate Chili I never got full. So I couldn't eat anything solid but eating sliders never got full so it was a really catch 22. I've only lost 9 pounds since my surgery so I was so glad I had some restriction but now 2/11 the restriction is gone and I can eat anything again. Yikes... it's so frustrating! Almost two months out and I've lost 9 pounds and have no restriction. My next fill is 3/4 so maybe that will be my lucky fill. I'm trying to eat healthy but I find myself doing a lot of Protein shakes and I know they slide right thru. So for those who are losing restriction on fill one... you may have another disappointment on fill 2. Hang in there. I am going to add 30 minutes of exercise every day starting tomorrow = hopefully that helps. Illumination: I noticed you've lost like 30+ was some of that preop diet. I did not have to do that so I can't figure out why I am so far behind everyone.
  12. I am 5 weeks post op. Had my 1st fill nothing changed could still eat anything. Had my 2nd fill on 2/2. Here's my dilemma. I am having trouble eating most stuff. I'm trying to determine the difference between being stuck and having restriction. So, at first bite of chicken (size of dime chewed a lot) I am still getting stuck. So obviously this does not mean restriction because it's my first bite. So in my trial and error testing I found I could eat Chili. So last night I wanted to see if I ate a cup of chili would I get full. I didn't. It seemed as though I could have eaten three cups. So, today I tried eating a piece of chicken again and each piece got stuck. So it's taking me an hour to eat a piece of chicken, but I never seem to get full. Maybe because it takes me so long to eat it or maybe because there is no restriction. So my question is there really seems to be no restriction but everything is getting stuck. I feel like I need another fill so I can have restriction but with another fill Im not sure I could eat any real Protein. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

    I'm here to help...

I totally agree. I think this is great that so many people have connected, but I was just saying Janet's heading is I'm here to help and I think we all come here wanting to ask questions and get answers but get lost in all the other everyday socializing. It was only a suggestion. It's like the before and after pictures thread. They remove comments every few days because it's for pictures. I think someone did comment on my question but it was very hard to find the comment through all the every day blogging type replies. I was suggesting now that her original thread has become so large and more socializing maybe she might want to do another thread more for "just lapband help."

    I'm here to help...

It sounds like this forum is more of a social forum and updates on every day life. I would like to suggest that the person who started this thread start a new one under I'm here to help - lapband questions and concerns. It seems like she's very helpful with her experiences but most new people want and need a thread based on banding not so much everyone's daily routines. Maybe one day I'll have an interest in the trips and such but the new ones that see I'm here to help get lost in all the social stuff. Just an idea!

Look girl.. stop eating all that crap! Stop it! But most of all Stop using all these dang acronyms. Why would I know what PCOS and BCP is!!!!!! HAHA
  17. See, this is so helpful. I had always heard steak/pork were so hard to eat after the band so I just thought chicken was everyone main source of meat. That really helps. And, to think that a dime size of chicken is still too big is amazing but that makes sense. Hard to believe before we ate huge bites and that is still too small. So thank you so much for this information. I am not sure where I am going to get all this protein if I can't eat chicken because I cannot eat fish. Looks like I'll have to have one of those Protein drinks every day that has the 52 grams per drink. What does everyone eat for Breakfast? I can't do eggs so what does everyone else seem to eat?
  18. Maybe you are right. I am probably eating too fast. I guess it seems slow in comparison to before but still not slow enough. It is getting stuck and I do feel pain but after a minute or so it goes down. You got banded two years ago? So did you only average about 30 pounds per year? I was truly hoping to lose 50 within a year. Do you have any comments as to why your loss seems to be slower?
  19. Sorry if you see this more than once. I've posted on seveal threads because I wasn't getting much response: I am 5 weeks post op. Had my 1st fill nothing changed could still eat anything. I feel like at this rate I can only most mushy/softer stuff but I have no restriction. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great! __________________
  23. So everyone what are you eating? I cannot figure out where I go from here. Get another fill so I feel restriction?
  24. 1)Im five weeks post op and have lost 12 pounds. 2)You did not supply any information as to what you are eating/when/how much. How can we comment when we have no idea what you are eating. The band does nothing until you have restriction so you can't sue when you haven't put the band to work yet. 3)Have you ever looked at what 1.5 ccs is? Is nothing. I have had two fills. I am at 5ccs and still have no restriction. 4) Every form you signed stated that there is no guarantee of weight loss 5) A lawsuit would cost much more than a fill. Sounds like your dr. uses fills as a means of revenue if they are giving such small amounts. Tell him for that amount of money you want at least four or five ccs on your next fill or find someone else. Good luck.

    Someone brought be food...

Don't give this a 2nd thought. He probably brought donuts thinking you eat that kind of things so simply say... I'm on a healthkick that's overdue so I'm going to pass these along to those who aren't, but thanks for the gesture. It doesn't need to be about surgery. I would never FAKE eat something for someone else.
