I feel the same way in my desire for privacy. That would have really bothered me. I hope he will be more discrete from here on out

I also really limited who I told about the surgery. Support is not created equal, and not everyone knows how to be supportive. I need people that know, to be my cheerleaders, not making boneheaded comments.

H i Friends,
my name is Heidi and I was banded in Mexico 10/16/09.
I have a food addiction, and I need support, learning to channel my emotional eating into a more productive way of relieving stress.
So far the healing process has gone well, but I have had a heap of stress lately and I feel this intense drive to eat, eat, eat.
ugh.

I am also a Mexican banded patient, looking forward to finding a good fill doc. I have heard really good things about Dr. Fitspatrick, but I really want fluo for my first fill.

I was worried about the same thing, with my mother, so I made a point of sending her an e-mail saying "I am not sharing this with anyone" I hope she takes it to heart.
I am so sorry you were "outed" in that way. That would have hurt my feelings

I am also struggling wtih protien, and I find "Designer Whey" a good resource. It is only 100 calories per scoop and it offers 18grams per scoop, you mix it with 3 oz of Water, so the serving size it right...

I had my surgery in Mexico 10/16, and i am feeling pretty good. I have had some reflux, which is a little scary, but I think it is from drinking too much at a time...

I am in Portland, and wouldlove to meet other bandsters.

Hi Heather,
I was banded on 10/16, in Mexico, and while I felt good pretty much right away, it has been hard being back, and dealing with family meals.
We went out on Friday, and i just sat there, drinking water... not the end of the world, but weird.
I have not told many people about my surgery, so I can relate to how hare that would be, if someone "outed" me, against my wishes.
I would love a buddy to get through this with, so feel free to pm me if you like.
I hope you feel better soon.

I am one week post op and things went very well. The hospital was clean & modern, the hotel was lovely.
the only funky thing was the pick up and drop off- the van driver was an idiot, stopping at McDonalds for himself. WTH? and dropping us off way too early.
I thought Dr. Kuri & his team were very good. People tend to gush and rave about their weightloss docs, and I am not that type. I paid and I expected good service, and got it. Very simple.
I would recommend him to a friend. I had my mother go with me, and I did think that was helpful, had I felt crummy- I felt ok, but it was nice to have company

feel free to e-mail me if you want details about my experience

I had surgery 10/16/09 with Dr. Kuri in TJ and it went very well. I am feeling great one week post op, and the experience was very positive.
The only bad thing, was the driver was really lame picking us up wayyyy too early for our return flight, in an effort to avoid making two trips. The hospital was very nice, clean and efficient, the doctors were good and the service excellent. I felt totally safe, secure and well cared for.

do you not want to use the doctor who banded you? I was banded by Dr Kuri, and he offers fills for $90W/ fluro... at the hospital.
The hospital is very lovely, clean and modern

Sadly, I think a lot of fat people are treated in an abusive manner by doctors, and that is why we tend to neglect our health.
I am sorry you were treated so harshly and I hope that the next time you see your doctor, you can ignore any mean comments and just focus on yourself and your wellness.

I hear you on that fear. two years ago I lost 50# and was doing well, then I sort of bottomed out and gained it all back. super depressing, so here I am doing this big act to try to keep the weight off once and for all.

Hi,
I am also new to the site and so thankful that it is here!
I am scheduled to be banded 10/16 in mexico, and I am not telling anyone, other than my mom, husband and my boss.
I feel really fragile right now and I don't need any additional stress.
I hope to keep in contact with folks here and have a successful journey to a thinner me.
good luck with your fill!

I am due to be banded 10/16, and have not told a soul.
I have a writerly blog, Die Welt von Heidelfinc that I am very brutally honest about my life, my struggles with depression, but I never talk about the elephant in the room, my weight.
I dunno why I have so much shame around my weight, I am trying to get set up with a therapist, soon after surgery to hopefully work out the kinks.
I am new here, but I have been so impressed with this board, a %1000 better than the one offered by my doctor.
I may try to start a new band blog, if I continue to be a big chicken about taking about my weight:frown:

good luck, and I hope to see you around here, with more successful stories!!

Thank you for sharing!! that has been a huge concern, but I guess I will get through it. when I asked about it on my doctor's board, I was kind of poo-pooed- clearly those folks aren't mamas!
-
thanks for posting, I had this same question:redface:!

yes, please share Rebone!! I am dying to hear from folks who went to TJ.
I am considerably heavier than you, at 255.. ugh

I would love a buddy! feel free to pm me.
I am also new to this process, and have no one in real life to talk to about the process. I was banded 10/16/09 and I am feeling fine. The surgery was very smooth. I was so wrecked before, I feel silly now.
