  1. Question: When does "real" restriction come? Also, when you get that real restriction, do you notice your loss is faster?

My W/L Plus: I put on some old pajama bottoms last night and my goodness...they FELL off lol I was like "Oh no, my favorite pants!" HAHAHA It was a great feeling!

  2. I love ready-made Slimfast Low Carb "creamy chocolate" flavor. I am pre-pre-op diet and I rely on these even those I am not even banded yet! 20 gms. Protein, 6 carbs & 190 calories...I buy them at Sam's Club and keep them in the fridge to grab on the way to work...sometimes I take 2 and have one for lunch if I know it's going to be a superbusy day!

Congrats on your sugery day! How are things going for you so far? I have a hard time getting in my Protein, too! Especially where I work... I feel like I'm so busy I can't breathe. Hang it there! Glad you're getting banded!!

Thanks for all of the above mentioned shakes too. This will help me out!

  3. My BMI now has me as obese, as opposed to the morbidly obese I have been for a good 20 or so years!!! :scared2:

I started out almost 2 years ago at a BMI of 56  (and, I'm sad to say, that was not even my highest weight)

But I'm on my way now.

Closing in on 100 pounds lost......

I got bumped down to that category too!! It's such a great feeling lol  YAY! Congrats hun!

  4. I know how you feel. I just got my 3rd fill on monday and still don't feel restriction. I haven't lost any weight since the middle of January. My doc said it could take 5-6 fills for me to get to that sweet spot. How frustrating huh? Hang in there...we'll get there one day!

I, too, know how it goes...I have gained 3 pounds, which I am TOTALLY pissed off at myself. It's because I feel like I'm able to eat more than I should, and I think I'm (secretly) trying to force the food down...like reverting back to my old habits. I don't want to have this depressed, dissapointed feeling anymore. I am going for a fill in April and I've decided to jumpstart things again by doing liquids, softs, etc...like before surgery. Do any of you feel like this is a good idea and it will work? Thanks for your help...this forum is a true support system for me. (Which, I have neglected for a few weeks...I also think it contributes to my insane acts of not getting back on track.)

  5. Hey guys,

I've only had 1 fill since surgery (Dec. 07.09) and I do have restriction, but I'm still able to eat a lot of food...and when I say a lot of food, it's definitely more than 1/4 cup. I definitely don't eat like I used to...I eat what I want, but not a whole lot of it. I just feel like it's too much. I can't explain it. Does restriction become better when you get more fills? I'm just concerned. I DON'T WANT TO GAIN BACK THE 34 THAT I HAVE LOST! Help!

    Many thanks and love,

    Kate

  6. That is Awesome!!! That is what I want to hear! Any problems? I think I read way too much about problems and that is why I chickened out! I had my pre op, pre-admit at the hospital, medical clearance and EGD done yesterday...there is no turning back now. I can't wait! I just find it hard to believe I will ever weigh my goal weight, which is 132! I am SOOOOOOOO Excited!

Thank you!! :rolleyes2: Yeah, almost made the mistake about reading into the problems, but I spoke to my surgeon and he handled all of my questions with ease! I felt like a weight, no pun intended, had been lifted off of my shoulders when I got the surgery...every day (BEFORE surgery) I constantly obsessed on how to lose weight, but could never do it. So FINALLY after having surgery, this is the best feeling I've had in many years! You'll do AWESOME! I know you will! If you have any questions, feel free to private message me or email me - I don't mind talking about it at all! I'm getting closer and closer to goal weight!! It's such an amazing feeling to know you're gonna get there, right??

  7. I was scheduled for December 22, 2009 and I chickened out. I am rescheduled for next Tuesday, February 16, 2010. I want to know how much all you December Bandsters have lost???

I've lost 30 since Dec. 7th! I'm so happy, I could actually cry lol Don't be scared, it works out so awesome in your favor once you get the procedure done. Way to go on getting it done next week!!! Let us know how you've done! :rolleyes2:

  8. Hello,

I was banded 3/18/09 but have just joined the website. I have been to the website numerous times looking for answers to my questions and it has been very helpful. I finally decided to join so I could ask questions and chat with fellow labbandsters. I look forward to meeting and chating with everyone.

Welcome aboard! I LOVE this site! Especially the chatroom...everyone is so pleasant and they give GREAT advice. Nothing can be better than getting your answers straight from the source. Hope to see you around! Take care!

  9. Good morning,

Today is my second day post-op. I still have soreness in my abdominal area but it is less than it was yesterday. The beginning of last night I was so uncomfortable because I had to try to find a new way to sleep. (I usually sleep on my stomach) I did buy a travel size pillow to help with my stomach discomfort before hand and it works. I'm not really hungry but i do have to tell myself to go the bathroom to pee. Is anyone else experiencing that? The thing that hurts the most is my throat!!!

    Good Luck to all!!!

I did for a while have to make myself go to the bathroom and drink/eat. It gets better! My throat was sore for days too, and it was almost as if I had a sinus infection...sorry, TMI and gross...

    Take care hon!!!

  10. Hello all my December Delights!

For those who have been recently banded...did your surgeon put the band in, unfilled? I'm just curious....mine put my band in that way. It has a little Water in it, but not even close to 1cc. Were/are you able to eat pretty good on a pureed stage? I just feel like food and liquids are going down like normal...not stopping in the little pouch.... =/

  11. When I met my husband - I was always afraid that he wouldn't like me because I was overweight...however, he told me once upon a time that if he can hug me and he in turn hugs himself because I'm so thin that something is wrong...BUT four years later of wonderful marriage...I told him I was unhappy with my weight...he loves me for me and he wants me to be happy. In October of this year I told him I was going to get LAP-BAND surgery no matter what he thought..lol He was happy for me and even though I told him I may get "skinny" he didn't care. He said, "I am in love with you. No matter how small you get, you will always be my wife!"

I am now banded as of December 7th, and couldn't be happier. We're both happy. :)

  12. I got my band on December the 7th!! Doing good so far. I have lost 17lbs! I am so excited about this journey! For those who are getting it or just got it within the last few hours or day or so, it gets better! Hold your head high and think of the road ahead. The pain goes away and as you walk daily, you'll notice a huge difference. It will be as if you never had surgery...lol  Take care all!!! Hope to see "less of you"!

  13. Ok i got my date dec 7,2009. I am nervous and happy at same time, it is so wierd i have no pre surgery diet, only no food ,just liquids 24 hours before surgery, and no food for 2 weeks after surgery just liquids; anyone else like that??

I'm having mine on the 7th too! Can't wait! I'm going in for the pre-op on Friday...BLACK FRIDAY...lol

Take care and let me know how you are!

  14. Hello all,

I am getting banded on December 7th, and I am just curious to see how much you guys have lost per month or week. I am pretty sure it's impossible to lose 20lbs a month, right? That would be about 5lbs a week and that's probably too much? Not sure where I'm going with these questions...and I know everyone is different. Just trying to get a real feel on how everyone did after their surgery.

    Thanks!

  15. Hi my date is set for December 7th at 7:30. I start my diet on Monday November 9th.I am new to this website but I would like to start using it.

My surgery is December 7th as well! And at 7:30!! Welcome to the website by the way. =) I LOVE this site. So many helpful and kind hearted people. If you'd like, we can team up together and be "study" buddies....or bandy buddies....lol

  16. I just found out today that I have a tentative date of December 7th but will have to move it to the 14th do to the amount of sick time that i have. How long are you all planning on taking off of work for and what kind of work do you do? The closer i get to the reality of having the surgery the more questions pop up, anyone have a list of the questions they asked there surgion. I wish everyone the best of luck and we will have to keep tight and keep eachother encouraged

    Hey J Mae,

I work in the radio business and I have a few vacation days, a personal day, and a little bit of overtime left to take off my week. I'm hoping it goes quickly!! I've been scheduled for December 7th! :smile2: As far as questions go, the only one I have a problem with and haven't asked yet is what to do about birth control...not sure if I have to quit taking it before and after and when to start back. Best of luck to you and take care!

  17. :smile2: How exciting!!!

I go for pre-op testing November 23rd, same day as I start the 2-week liquid diet. Bummer since Thanksgiving is that week and I'm hosting! But, this will be the first holiday in a whole line of others in my new life.

Surgery scheduled for December 7th. I absolutely can not wait.

Congratulations December Bandsters. Wishing you all a breezy banding and speedy recovery.

We should totally keep up with each other! I'm scheduled for the 7th also! Congrats!! :) :w00t:

  18. I will be banded November 23. I am scheduled for November 18, but I'm trying to change it to the 23rd because everyone's telling me to wait until after my birthday party, which is the 21st.

Congrats! I just got my date too, which is December 7th. I was scheduled for November the 19th, but had to change it due to work related issues. I pray everything goes well with your surgery! Congrats again!

  19. I believe that we need to avoid carbonated beverages, not because they will be so hard to tolerate, but because the carbonation, over time, can stretch out the small pouch that has been made. And of course, because of the calories in non-diet sodas.

I visited your blog and you are doing so great! Thank you for the encouraging photos! I can't wait to get banded...I have no date yet, but I'm very impatient lol.

Keep up the amazing work!! :frown:
