Yummy Protein shakes... they really arent that bad. I am trying EAS Myoflex in chocolate. You could probably do the low carb Slim fast shakes too... But best to talk to your surgeon or the nutritionist

From what I have gathered from my insurance company they only need a psych eval and a nutritional consultation. I am hoping to get a date for the end of December if not I am thinking of pushing the surgery to February (Presidents day)

Well I got my first consultation scheduled... November 20th. Is that what everyone is calling the "seminar"? I never went to an actual seminar to make my decision. Just educated myself online... I'm nervous and anxious as I've mentioned in a few other posts. What kind of hoops am I going to have to jump through to take my next step... its really quite frustrating the whole hurry up and wait thing... ugh... Does anyone (living in Ca) have Blue Shield of California out there?

I am finding the people in their office really helpful. I called earlier today to get a little more information as to pre reqs for approval for the surgery. As far as I know ... as per my insurance co I need to have a psych eval and a nutritional consultation. No mention of any sort of 3 to 6 month dr supervised dieting... wich is a plus. I am in that state of mind of "I have made the decision I just wanna get the ball rolling and do this" Hopefully it wont be too long of a process I may talk myself out of it...I have been known to do that LOL:rolleyes:

How do you know? I called my insurance company and they told me it was up to my medical group (I have an HMO)... So I called my medical group and they said it was up to the surgeon... I am going to call the surgeon today and see if I cant get a better idea as far as the length of time I need... Hopefully it won't be any... I can hope can't I?

Congratulations!!!! I got my consultation appointment yesterday at work also.... I was so excited just for that I cant even imagine how you are feeling. I bet you are BUSTING at the seams wanting to shout it out! Good luck to you on your journey. I hope my next step comes quickly. Hey all!!!! I'm new to posting... I have been reading posts and getting to know the site while I waited for my consultation appointment. I just confirmed my first 4 hour appointment yesterday set for November 20th. I'm nervous and excited and scared all at once. So far I am loving this site and have found so many of my concerns eased. Everyone here seems so supportive and helpful. I look forward to getting to know more of you on my journey. If anyone has any suggestions or advice please please please by all means have at it! Self Pay is unfortunately not an option for me... I've had a bad history with credit and what not... long story short. I am hoping it will be quick... I've been dieting for ever ... up and down up and down. I know getting banded is going to help curb my binging. I'm a binger I eat alot some days like around my monthly visitor and then can cut back when shes not around LOL. I have a bit of a sweet tooth and told this to the woman setting me up for my consult ... the minute I said I had a sweet tooth she immediately said "You might want to get a bypass instead" Ummm NO I dont want my insides cut up and rerouted thank you I will deal with my sweet tooth in smarter ways. Sorry to vent LOL

I have Blue shield of California HMO my pcp referred me to Dr. LePort. I have my consultation with him on the 20th but I am also wanting to meet with Dr. Oliak. I have to go to the first consultation and then request another referral ... UGH annoying referrals... :cursing: I hate not knowing what sort of hoops I am going to have to jump through... 6 month diet, 3 months diet, 4 weeks of liquids only ... ack!!! I know in the end it will be worth it but I want to get moving already. I am committed to this decision now... If I wait too long I may talk myself out of it...
