  1. Thanks, B. I have not had insurance for the last 3 years! I just began working and my insurance kicks in next month (finally). So, I have just a couple of weeks to go. When all this first began (and after I lost my job and insurance), the bariatric facility from whom I received my surgery, refused to work with me unless I paid out-of-pocket expenses (and without a job, I couldn't do that). So, I'll be looking elsewhere for answers.

    Thanks!

  2. I have been having pain in my right side of my neck, right shoulder, right arm all the way down to the right side of my right hand. Also, the location of the port has lots of scar tissue, so much so, that when I lay face down (my sleeping preference), that spot hurts. I have to adjust myself in weird positions so as not to aggravate the port and scar tissue. Does anyone else have these problems. If yes, what can one do to alleviate this?

  3. I am just wondering...why does your dr. have to be there for the fill? I've had two fills and they were not done by the dr., they were done by the assistants. I haven't even seen my dr. since before I had surgery (10/9/09). I got my 1st fill on 12/7/09, but when I called the office to try and schedule a sooner fill, I was rejected and told I had to wait until 12/7.

    Wish you the best!

35 lbs. lost since I began my journey.

  4. I wouldn't worry so much about it. I couldn't resist pretzels (the big hard ones) and took a couple of bites and it did NOT go down w/out some difficulty. Then I did it again last night...gosh, when am I going to learn??? I'm 10 days post-op and have lost 20 lbs. and was feeling fantastic; however, after last night's pretzel fiesta, today I feel full (bloated), like I need to burp and can't and am feeling a bit down for doing so...but I will move on and do the best I can b/c I did not go through this whole process to fail.....I will prevail!!! NO MORE pretzels FOR ME!

  5. I had same type thing happen to me two years ago. At that time I was considering gastric bypass. My doc wanted me to lower my blood sugar and in my doing so, I lost 35 lbs. My dr. then said I was doing so well on my own that she was NOT going to recommend the surgery. I was livid. So, two years later, different insurance, different dr., and different surgery, I got approved and am schedule for Oct 2, this Friday! :frown2: I can hardly wait! I've lost 12.5 lbs on pre-op diet and am aiming towards another 5 lb. loss before Friday. :smile2: Good luck to you and change doctors! :smile2:

  6. I've just recently started my pre-op liquid diet 3 days ago (and I've already lost 4 pounds!) but I think what I have is way too high in carbs. I've been drinking the Ensure with Protein (230 cals,12g Protein per shake) three times per day and about 20g whey Protein in Water. I've also been including sugar free Jello, popsicles, apple sauce and Soup broth. Im not really "hungry" other than the head hunger.

Anyone have any suggestions? My surgeon wasn't very specific on what I should have.

    Thanks, Summer

Slim-Fast Optima chocolate is the one I prefer. Started 8 days ago and have lost 12.5 lbs.
