POST OP Diet
Mine says the same. I am being band a week from today and have no plans of cheating. I've come this far. What are a few more weeks?

Nervous, Need information on lap-band.
The wait is good! Use it wisely and read, read, read. You are getting some great info from successful people here but make sure you read about the failures as well. Make you know everything you need to before undergoing surgery. The band is not a magic wand that makes you lose weight. It is merely a tool. Many fail because they don't their tool correctly. Read their stories and try not to make the same mistakes they made. Good luck!!

Looking for March 2010 bandsters threads
My pre-op is 3 week of 5 Optifast shakes a day. They come in strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. The vanilla is kind of bland but the other 2 are delicious! I am losing about a pound a day but they bind me up because of the lack of Fiber.

Real People In My Life

Looking for March 2010 bandsters threads
Exactly a week from now they will be waking me up in the recovery room and telling me to get up and walk around. I can't believe it is almost over. I can eat real food again 5 weeks from now. Woohoo. I may not be hungry but I miss the stuff.

On the final leg of my journey to bandom
Had my pre-op appointment at my surgeon's office yesterday. It was just another lecture on what to expect. I didn't get much out of it because you people already told me everything. Then went to the hospital today where I will have surgery next Tuesday for a pre-op there. Once again, pretty uneventful. Gave blood and peed in a cup. I should be excited and/or nervous but I am not. I just want to get it over with. I haven't eaten real food in over 2 weeks and it is going to be at least another 5 weeks. I am not hungry but I miss food.

Documented Proof of Failed Medical Weight Loss???
Aetna required proof of my weight, not weight loss for 2 years. I got the transcripts from a doctors visit in March of 2008 and my bariatric surgeon weighed me in September 2009. That was enough for Aetna.

Approved!!!!!!
Congrats both Jens!!!

Losing too much weight prior to surgery???
Your insurance company is not going to even know about the surgery until all or the prerequisites, including the 6 month supervised diet are complete and your surgeon's office sends the approval packet to them.

TMI Alert: Constipation...
I want to do that but I figure if I get in the habit my body would become accustomed to it and I couldn't crap without it. I hate when people complain about diarrhea. I envy them so much. :frown:

Losing too much weight prior to surgery???
Ditto on losing weight easily and gaining it back with interest. I specifically have asked the people in my surgeons office which weight they send to the insurance company for approval. I asked them more than a half dozen times and always got the same answer, they send starting weight. I was approved last week and will be having surgery on March 2. Check with your surgeon's office and your insurance company. If you can get a head start, do it. Don't wait around stuffing your face for 6 months like too many do.

Pre-op diet question...
Thanks and congrats!! Is the pain fully gone after 2 weeks and everything back to normal?

Pre-op diet question...
I agree with you on the big picture stuff and the pre-op diet being a relative drop in the bucket. My surgery is March 2 and I think the pre-op is only as miserable and rough as you make it in your head. I am on day 15 of 21 days through mine and haven't really felt hungry or like I was missing out on anything. I went into this with a positive attitude and focusing on the end result and not what I wasn't eating or drinking.

Marijuana Use After Surgery
If you are going to invest in gadgetry. Check out the AWOL. It is an inhaler for booze. You don't have to drink to get drunk. It must work because a few states have made it illegal. I am thinking about getting one.

Do you believe in a god or gods?
Patty, You just described exactly how I felt when I first saw the movie "Star Wars." That is when I let George Lucas into my heart.

Post-op instructions tomorrow
Thanks! Don't be jealous until the lapband is in place and we are sure it will keep me from regaining the weight at record speed...again. I don't over think the shakes. I open the the packet; pour it into 10 oz cold water; shake well and drink. I am also just thinking about how much fat I will burn this week and not my next shake or what I will eat after surgery.

Post-op instructions tomorrow
I have an appointment tomorrow with my surgeon's office to get my post-op instruction; sign my life away and most importantly, get my prescription for pain killers. I hope the pain killers don't run out before I have surgery. :frown: Only 8 days and 38 more shakes until surgery. Time is flying by now. It's been 2 weeks and I still love the shakes and they are satisfying my hunger. I was hoping I would be down triple digits before surgery but I guess I am going to have to settle for about a 95 pound loss. Boy, that sucks. I don't remember if I mentioned in my last entry or not but I have been watching the Food Network as if it were porn. I don't want the food. I want to be cooking and making a mess. I can't bring myself to cooking for my roommate if I can't sample it though. I know if I dared take one spoonful, I immediately take many more.

Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana...Beware! He banded an esophagus!
He is practicing in Mexico. I don't think it is as easy as just picking up the phone and dialing 1-800-LAWYERS. A number 1 reason I would never consider crossing borders for surgery. There are a couple of older threads about this quack on here. One of them includes stories from a girl who claims he killed her father.

Pre-op Easy
Congrats!! You managed to change your mindset and it will be smooth sailing from here.

Day 13 of 14 pre-op diet
