I wish you the best on your journey ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. so my surgeons office has faxed over all of my paper work to insurance today ..now I cross my fingers , pray and learn to have the patience of a saint as I wait and see what BCBS IL PPO decides . I personally think this is the worst part of the ordeal as I have no control over this. Hopefully soon I will be a part of all of you doing the post op dance and begin my journey to a new , happier, healthier me
  3. hi , surgery was a week ago on Friday July 29th . The only pain I have is from the incision and scope hole from were they removed my band and port. I am walking around , using a pillow for support and an ice pack to help with the pain but does anyone else have any tips or tricks to help with this ? I would greatly appreciate it

And now I'm here , waiting to go to sleep so that I can wake up tomorrow and start a new chapter in my life ! Excited ?? Yes .. Nervous as to what to expect in the future ?? Yes ... Happy to get this band out ?? YES !!! I can't wait to see you all on the other side ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone else having gastric bypass June 28th?

I am having my band removed and revision to bypass on the July 29th .. One week away so looking forward to hearing your new journeys !! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Well , very soon I will be able to join the rest of the revisioners .... On Friday July 15th I start my 2 week pre op diet . Time to say good bye to my dearly loved coffee, the rest I am fine with . This past Monday I had my final preop with the surgeon . That was fine , although he did have to attempt to make sure my band was empty which was not the most pleasant experience since we already knew the port has a lot of scar tissue, and as it was suspected there was no Fluid in my band . I am excited and cant wait for the 29th to get here . I am ready to start this next journey and be rid of this weight ! I have read the posts that the worst part of the recovery is the port area ... Would everyone agree with this ? what major life changes did you all have to over come for the first few weeks ? Was everyone able to get the 64-90 oz of Water in a day ? just trying to gear the next few weeks and plan accordingly thanks in advance for any comments !

Called again today ( Tuesday ) to check the status and found out that my paperwork has completed phase 1 and now in phase 2 ... All I was told is there are a lot of notes not sure what that means but was advised to check back on Friday ... Fingers and toes still crossed Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. So the journey is getting closer .. I have completed all of my prerequisites labs, ekg, overnight oximetry, psych , exercise consult just waiting on my last one and that's the GI specialist and then EGD ..... Once that's completed its time to wait for that nerve wracking insurance approval ... And 2 week preop diet ... I'm getting excited and ohhhh so ready to move on to this next journey Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Saw my surgeon on Monday and he feels that the decision to move forward with band revision to bypass is the best option for me . I am attending my first of 2 required support group meetings tonight and waiting to receive the list of names and numbers to set up the rest of appointments required by this specific bariatric program. I am hoping within 2- 2.5 months from now I can be ready for my new chapter. Can I please get some updates from people that have been revised and the first few months ... how did your life change ? pain , discomfort , new foods , tired , any thing to put this whole journey into a realistic perspective.
  14. So as I get closer to completing all of my testing for revision from lap and to gbp the reality of life after GBP is starting to settle in ... Right now I have had 7 yrs of barely eating.. Never feeling hungry ... Etc ( not that I ever went down to goal ). The last 8 months I have been eating a yogurt around 10 am ... lunch at about 2 and then Soup of some sort or soft food in the evening ( and gaining weight ) .... With GBP I've been told you have to eat 3 small meals high Protein , veggies ... But isn't there anyone else out there concerned , nervous etc about gaining weight and having this fail ?? 15. Hi ... As many are stating here they have been banded for a while and now switching over . I was banded 11/2009 , lost weight initially and nothing now , actually gaining and fast . I'll admit I'm not working out and need to . Regardless , I'm calling on Monday to make my appointment with a new surgeon to discuss lap and revision to bypass . Can someone tell me if you have to go through all of the pre req appointments again like before banding ? Also, what has been the general turn around time from initial appointment to surgery time for everyone ? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  16. waiting to hear if a new group will see me. I faxed my medical records over to their clinic a week ago. fingers crossed that they accept in a new patient that they did not band. I am switching groups only for continuity of care . I would like all of my healthcare at once facility instead of many. Regardless of what I will be required to do , I am looking forward to a new beginning . My first step will be a phone call on Tuesday 04/05 that states the new surgeon will see me . FINGERS CROSSED

  20. Thank you to all that have posted comments  i realize about muscle weight , and calories in ---calories out ..... and now i only weigh myself maybe once a month -- i was falling into the pattern of being a scale whore after surgery .... by no means was i complaining .. i was just throwing it out there if anyone else happened to notice a weight loss stoppage ... or is this what everyone considers bandster hell.. i also realize that this is different for everyone ... i was simply looking for some guidance for this moment ..... it just seems that everyone else is posting that they lost this and that ... and i am so happy for them ... and then i step on the scale .... but this too shall pass ....
