Has anyone in the past year had any infections with Garcia? I read some posts around this time last year a few people with Garcia were sent home with terrible infections. They had to visit the ER at home to get it cleared up, but it took a while. Just wondering if there were still any issues with that.

For the ones who saw Dr. Garcia in Florence hospital how long did you stay there and how was the nurses there? I mean how did they do with putting your iv in? I read on here a lot of people had good experiences with the doctors but had trouble with the nurses not being able to find veins, nurses being loud and not answering when you call for them. This may have been at the MI hospital though.

I know I'm considering going to Dr. Aceves at Almater hospital because you stay in the hospital the entire time (3 days I believe) the only thing is he's more expensive than the others. I'm also having a very hard time deciding. It's between dr aceves and dr Garcia. Garcia operates at florence hospital (not a full hospital like Almater is) and with Garcia you do recover in a hotel after a few days. Garcia is also cheaper. I'm hoping he's only cheaper because he operates in a smaller hospital.

Hmm I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Now I'm more 50/50 lol. All I know is the surgeon here said titanium staples because a lady at the seminar asked what they used. He said titanium last forever. Jesser - I don't have a lot of money either. I'm actually borrowing from my 401k. I need a new car also. That's why I haven't made up my mind yet. If I go with Garcia I can aford newer car but at the same time I'm afraid I may be risking my life. Crazy huh?

I did type it in and no hospital comes up. Only medical tourism sites. When I type in Almater Hospital (Dr. Aceves hospital) and actual hospital website comes up. It's like our hospitals in the US. Another thing that worries me about Garcia is he says he uses staples and sutures. From what I've heard (from doctors here in US) all they use is staples (titanium). Does Garcia use both because he's trying to save money from not using too many staples? From what I've heard the staples alone cost 3,000 and some people question whether he uses subpar staples. Don't get me wrong I still have not made up my mind between the two yet. I'm still researching everywhere I can to find out what is better for me.

Wow!!! I'm so glad to hear your not counting calories and can eat small bites of anything you want. That's what I'm hoping for. I don't want to be obsessing and counting every calorie. I want to just enjoy eating less.

Please let us know how you are doing when it's over with. I'm almost 100% sure I'm going with Aceves also.

Just so you know that being a Center of Excellence means that the have to do so many surgeries a month to get that title. I went to a weight loss seminar at a local hospital and the surgeon said they were a Center of Excellence then he explained how they got that title.

What is most important to me is does the surgeon operate in a real hospital? Over in Mexico the word hospital is used loosely and many of these doctors and people on here say their doctor operated on them at a "hospital" when in reality it's a clinic and most clinics over there do not have an ICU or a blood bank. I'm mean what would they do if they nicked an artery during surgery (read somewhere it happened before) or what if something unexpected happened to you during surgery, would they know what to do at a clinic? I know a lot of people defend their surgeons and where they operate on here saying they were fine and nothing went wrong. Of course nothing bad happened, so how would they know what the outcome would be of their decision if something did go wrong. The only real hospital that I have found that a weight loss surgery doctor operates at is Almater Hospital. The way I found out is I typed the name of all the hospitals mentioned on here in Google and the only one that showed up as an actual hospital was Almater. The others just link to coordinators websites. Another thing that bothers me is a lot of these posts praising these doctors and their staff, they then mention that at night the nurses were loud, rarely came in to check on them, and they are unable to sleep without ear plugs. Also several mention that when the nurse came to put an iv in, it took them a long time to either find a vein or get it in correctly. A lot of people said that the doctor had to help them. This worries me because it makes me wonder if the nurses are even real nurses. Were they trained on how to put an iv in?

I'm talking about people being successful at being sleeved a year later that had their surgery in Mexico. I've been searching. I have not been lazy and just asking. Im on here everyday reading all these posts trying to dertime whose real and who is a coordinator. I do use the search function but i thought that out of all these mexico surgeries, surely someone on here is going on a year with continued restriction and weightloss/maintenance. Cannot find many that are sleeved in Mexico a year or so ago. The reason I'm worried is that I'm reading some who went to Mexico and they are not having much restriction a month after being sleeved. Makes me worried that maybe the doctors are not cutting correctly or something.

I've been reading and obsessing over these forums trying to find the right doctor in Mexico, but I'm having a hard time finding anyone that has had their surgery in Mexico and has reached or is close to their goal weight.

I cannot decide between Aceves and Garcia, but leaning more towards Aceves because it seems he has more experience and its in a real hospital. I want to go by June 3rd but I haven't even called yet to schedule. I am trying to get my down payment together.

Huge plus is Aceves performs his surgery in an actual hospital. Google all the so called hospitals other doctors do it at. You cannot find any info on them.

I would like to know also. I'm going to apply for a passport card next week but don't know if it will get here in time.

Thanks so much or posting this! I read the blog so I started my Internet searching. Since I was dead set on florence Hospital in Mexico I did a google search of Florence Hospital and guess what, all the listing was not of an actual hospital!!! Scary huh! All it showed was a bunch of links to forums and coordinators websites. When I typed in Alamater Hospital (the one that Aceves works at), the first google listing is Almater.mx and it's in Spanish. Google firsts listing for Florence Hospital is successfullyslimmer.com. When you click on the link for Almater.mx it's in spanish but it clearly from photos is a hospital. It talks about nurses, babies etc. not weight loss surgery. When you click on successfullyslimmer.com it's clearly a coordinators page and shows a picture of "Florence Hospital" but only talks about weight loss. I'm thinking I want to be in a real hospital (Almater) not a pretend hospital (Florence) if something goes wrong. Not trying to say Florence isn't a medical center, but like the blog said a hospital will have a blood bank (very important if an artery is somehow nicked), an ICU, Pediactric unit etc. Choose wisely. I definitely need something to fill these hollows under my eyes. I look so much older because of them and people are always saying I look tired. No amount of makeup or concealer will cover it.
