  1. I'll be operated on there June 18th! I'll fly down the 17th. Hope I will run into some of you. I am also going alone.
  2. Make sure when you are researching that you know a head of time that a lot of these doctors do not operate in an actual hospital so make sure you research the place of operation also.
  3. I am telling everyone I work with lol. I'm not good at keeping secrets and I would feel like I'm lying if people asked me how I lost my weight. I'm getting sleeved June 18th.
  4. Does Dr. Garcia use regular stitches to close up the holes in your stomach or does he use dissolvable stitches?
  5. Dang I was going the 10th but I had to delay my surgery by a week.
  6. I would be afraid I'd do more damage to my sleeve by throwing it up.
  7. I think it's an extra 500 if your bmi is 50+.
  8. Thanks. I will definitely try that.
  9. Well I am supposed to have sleeve surgery on June 10th, and I am choosing Dr. Garcia. I told the coordinator that I would pay the deposit on June 4th because I thought that once I borrowed from my 401k, they would deposit into my account the next day. Not so!!! They still mail checks! WTF!!! Now I don't know what to do. Of course I am going to let my coordinator know but I still cannot purchase my airline tickets without this money! Last time I borrowed from my 401k (5 years ago), my bank tried to make me wait 14 days until the check cleared because they wanted to make sure they check was good. I have been with my bank for over 15 years and I have a feeling my bank will try to make me wait again. I have to have the surgery that week because that is when I am already scheduled off of work! So angry!!!!
  10. I told you guys it was a crazy thought lol!
  11. I don't know why but I'm afraid that since Dr. Garcia is cheaper that maybe he's not really removing your stomach. That maybe he's only doing a little bit to make people think he did something. I cannot stop thinking this! I mean what proof do we have that he actually removed part of our stomach? I mean I'm getting surgery by him in about a week but I'm terrified that maybe he don't do the entire surgery. I know crazy right but that's what I'm thinking right now of all things. That's why I keep trying to research how much weight people actually lost with him as their doctor.
  12. Also do they give you compression stockings for the flight home? I'm wanting to leave a day early than the usual stay and was worried about the 7 hour flight home.
  13. I'm so glad to hear about your experience at Florence hospital. I'm going there on the 10th. My doctor is also Dr. Garcia.
  14. I was wondering after the surgery when you are back at the hotel, who would you call if you had something go medically wrong with you in the middle of the night? Would you call the people at the hotel, your coordinator (I've heard it's hard to get a hold of them once you are there), or would you call some type of emergency number?
  15. I wanted to add an international plan but the lady had me confused. She made it sound like it would mess up my unlimited data plan and I definitely don't want to lose that!
  16. I'm going to see Dr. Garcia at Florence hospital on June 10th! From what I've read on here you don't need a follow up doctor in the US. If anything were to go wrong once you are back you just go to the ER (they cannot deny you care) or see your primary care physician.
  17. I feel the same way. I think how this money can pay off some bills that really need to be paid off but then I think this is my life I'm trying to save. I know I'm close to being diabetic and because of my back I can barely get done around the house what needs to be done so I'm doing this for me and my family.
  18. Yea in the report someone in the US advised them to pay the police a large sum of money to get her out but the Mexico police said its to late for that.
  19. This is so scary! May have to copy and paste the link to read but basically the American mother was riding on a bus with her family to go to a funeral in Mexico when they stopped them at the checkpoint and found drugs under her seat. They claim its not theirs but she's being held in a Mexico prison. http://foxnewsinsider.com/2013/05/28/american-mom-yanira-maldonado-jailed-mexico-drug-charges
  20. Wow that's a little scary. That is what worries me about some of the nurses not speaking English. Of course in my opinion it should not have mattered. That nurse that changed your iv should have known what to do without you trying to tell her!
  21. Yea I've looked at Hotwire, Orbitz etc. they cost the same amount as going through the airline! It's cheaper by $100 if I were to drive an hour away to get a flight but its not worth it since someone will have to drive me out there, drive back, then pick me up when I come back. I don't want to put a hardship on my driver.
