How do you feel your sleeve is performing now that you are 2 and a half years out? Does it feel like you can eat like you did before your surgery, or do you still have some restriction?

I'm not worried about not losing weight because you will lose weight since you are unable to eat like you used to. What I am afraid of is after a few months my appetite returns and I barely lose weight. Possibly gaining some back. What if I graze on junk food instead of healthy food? I know everyone says to follow the diet plan, but this is why I'm doing this because I CANNOT follow a diet. I always end up getting off my diet, that is why I'm doing this surgery!

I'm actually interested in Restylane or Juvaderm for the hollows under my eyes.

I would rather combine what I can while I'm down there because I don't plan on going back so since its cheaper for fillers etc. down there then I want to go ahead and get it all at one time.

When I call to schedule my surgery I will ask and see. If they could do it in the same hospital that would be awesome.

I was wondering after I get my sleeve surgery is there anyway I can get Botox or fillers on my face? I really need fillers under my eyes because eye bags are horrible and I'm sure it would be cheaper there.

I wonder if I borrow 10,000 if that would be enough. I'm talking about using it for the down payment of 500-700, the round trip airline ticket, the surgery, pain meds and tips. Anything else?

Another question. I'm getting ready to tell my work I may need off anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks for an elective surgery. I'm afraid they may need some sort of doctors note saying I'm having surgery. Yea I will probably tell them what I'm having done but I don't know if I'll need to use FMLA. I don't think I will, but what if they still need a note before I have the surgery?

I am glad you posted your experience for people like me who are scared about making the wrong decision. I am wanting to come across true reviews and just not some crap about use this doctor he is great! I need to know why a doctor is great and not great lol. I am so sorry you had to go through that! I could only imagine how terrified I would be in a foreign country and my bandages were soaking through and I was unable to get help from anyone! In reality, how WOULD I get medical attention if I was back at the hotel and bleeding excessively? Just call the hotel staff? I wouldn't know and these are the thing I need to know. I don't want to die over there! I want to know peoples true experiences over in mexico and not some fake ones posted by people that may be working for these companies because this is my life I am placing in their hands. By the way I will come back after I have my surgery in Mexico (not sure who I am going with and hoping for June!) and I will post a detailed review of how it went.

Also how much did the it cost from the moment you sent them your deposit to the day you came home? I need to know how much money to borrow.

How do I know for sure I'm going to a hospital and not a clinic? I'm trying to research these websites now. I guess I just need to call them. How did you pay? Over the phone? Did you pay full amount before you went, or just a deposit?

Where did you buy your plane ticket to? I need to start looking at prices.

Well I had a seminar I attended today at a hospital in NC. It did not go well. The price looks to be for self pay 20,000 or so. Also they want 100 dollars to join some personal trainer at a campus where students are physical trainers. That part is required. Also they said I need to do a lot of tests before I can have surgery. It's not worth all the money and waiting. I want to go to Mexico! I need details on where to go in Mexico. First do I need a passport. I'm looking into getting a passport card, just hope I can find my birth certificate. Also how long was everyone in Mexico for? I wouldn't mind getting there the day before surgery, then staying of course that day, but how long after surgery until I can leave? Second - do I need any letters from my doctor? I hope not because I don't have a current doctor. I only see my obgyn and go to urgent care if I'm sick. Third - where did you fly too? It seems most of you flew within the states, then a van met you and drove you across the border. If I go, I plan on going by myself. My husband told me today my money, my decision. I was shocked! Now I'm scared lol! I really want to do this and save money, but am I risking my life?

Just in case it cost too much to do the surgery in the US, how long did it take to get your surgery date in Mexico? Say I was to call a doctor in Mexico tomorrow, would it be a month or several months from now to get a surgery date?

My Bmi is 37 and I'm going to be self pay. I really, really don't want to go to Mexico. I'm in NC and I'm afraid my cost may be 20,000 or more! My seminar is tomorrow and I'm afraid of all the hoops I may be forced to jump through/pay for before the actual surgery. I know my husband will be dead set against mexico but Mexico seems so much easier!

I finally called about weight loss surgery and they signed me up for the 16th. The only thing is the lady said she didn't think they offered the sleeve! Only lap band or gastric bypass. I told her on the website (hospital website) had on on the bottom of their site the verticle sleeve. She looked at the site and seemed surprised it was on there and said maybe they do offer it and that I will find out for sure when I go to the seminar. I hate to waste my time going to the seminar if they don't offer the sleeve. I'm not interested in the other two after what I've read and I hate to go farther away to get it done, but I willif I have to.

Jerrikoe68 - since you are self pay did you have to have any pre-op test done? Such as a sleep study etc. or did they schedule you pretty quickly? I'm also going to be pre pay and I worry about all the test I may have to pay for before surgery.

I am going to be self pay but I am waiting until I have a bill paid off (it will be paid off in May). If I want to have surgery in June, what month should I go see the doctor that does the surgery? I have not called them about it yet. I'm thinking make the appointment at the first month of May. I have read some that were self pay waited about a month after their doctor visit for their surgery. Also how much do you think it would cost for the doctor consultation?
