  1. Had my 2nd fill today.. now at 5cc. The doctor who did my fill however didn't know what the hell she was doing. I asked for numbing medication and she said "you should've asked me that before we came to xray, it's in the other building". So there she goes poking and proding and she hits a vein.. so blood shoots everywhere, I'm crying like a baby because of the pain. It was awful. Finally they page my surgeon and he brings me the numb stuff thank god.. and after that smooth sailing.

Now, I feel so much restriction, which is a good thing... but I get mad hiccups when i eat.. anyone else get that?

  2. Shannon,

    sorry about your high BP.

you may just have to suck it up and make time. i couldnt find the time either, so i get up at 420 each morning and go work out. before, i would crawl (begrudgingly) out of bed about 615-630 ... major change, but the exercise has helped SOOOOO much.

    good luck.

Does that somehow make you feel more energized throughout the day? I mean getting up that early. I've heard it helps a lot to get up an hour or two earlier and workout but never tried it. Sounds like a good idea to atleast try lol Thanks!

  3. I know the feeling... When I am out of routine it is so hard to get with the exercising! I find if I start out really slowly with the exercise I'm more likely to start. I tell myself "I'll just go on the treadmill for 10 minutes, at any speed.. that's it".. I find if I do that, I can get on the treadmill.. and I always go LONGER than 10 minutes... But it makes it easier to get on the treadmill in the first place- does that make sense?

Start out doing anything - five minutes, ten minutes.. whatever gets you moving! I always tell myself "the hardest part is putting on my exercise shoes" - in that the decision to exercise is always harder than the task itself! If you can do just a little and work your way up, exercise isn't as scary. Goodluck!!

Now I need to go follow my own advice :whoo:

Actually, that makes perfect sense lol

I'm slowly trying to get back on track. Stopped drinking regular drinks again. I was doing so well with it for the first 3 weeks after surgery and then I allowed myself a sip which turned into a glass and then one glass a day and now all the time.

I just need to get off my butt and start exercising! :whoo:

  4. So.. I had my surgery on May 9th, had my first fill around a month afterwards and ever sense I've lost no weight. Stuck at a 24 lb loss for 2 months now.

At work recently, I had noticed I was short of breath so I went to my doctor yesterday and found out I have high blood pressure. I'm 25 years old, how could that be possible?

Luckily, I go for another fill on Sept. 11th but I think what it all boils down to is I need to fit in more exercise but when you work all the time and have to come home to household chores.. where do you find the time?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal or what helps give you a boost?

    Thanks

    Shannon

  5. well, i haven't really been doing anything out of the ordinary. I'm finding it really hard to even get my Protein in and I've exercised maybe 4 times since the surgery. I thought the surgery itself would be a great motivater but I just can't seem to push myself into exercising on a daily basis when deep down i really want to.

  6. I've been banded for 2 months now and have lost approx. 30 lbs but I just feel unmotivated and need some extra support. I don't know anyone around my aread that has had this surgery and much less anyone who wants to change their life and become healthy so I'm turning to you guys.

    PLEASE HELP ME! lol

  7. I haven't had dreams but I did have an extremely horrible day a few weeks ago and I drank some alcohol but surprisingly, I didn't get/feel sick!

Not that it means it's good for me, I know it isn't but.. it was just a really bad day! lol

  8. ShayDee, my doctor told me that the first fill would not last very long. I have no idea why, but that is what he said. He scheduled me for my second fill two weeks after my first one. He said at that time they hope to get better restriction. From there, I am not sure when I will get my third fill. My doctor told me as soon as you quit feeling "morning band" then you need a fill? I am just watching what I eat again, waiting on my 2nd fill. I am still losing (a little, not a lot, LOL!) so I am trying not to be down about it.

Ha! Go figure. I really should call my doctor then. I just feel like I'm starving all the time but I think it has a lot to do with a) I don't have enough restriction and :) I'm not getting enough Protein.< /p>

    Thanks you guys!

  9. Well, I can't speak personally because I have HYPOthyroidism but a friend of mine ( without band ) has hyper and even when she was on medications she was still losing weight like crazy ( not that she wasn't already a bean pole anyway )... but I don't think it will effect your weight loss as much as you'd think.

  10. I was banded on May 9th and had my first fill on June 12th. I'm experiencing a lot of the same issues as a lot of other new bandsters such as not being able to eat well in the mornings and if I eat a healthy lunch I feel sick afterwards but dinner time I feel like I could eat 10 times more than what I should be eating.

I did, however, mess myself up because right after my surgery I was drinking mostly nothing but gatorade and drinking Ensure High Protein and the doc said that could've slowed my progress down.

  11. I'm not sure about an adjustment but I have my checkup this thursday. I hope they give me a fill or something because my appitite is coming back full force lol

to do the tickerfactory thing, go to tickerfactory.com and make your ticker.. then copy and paste the code in your signature spot.

  12. I dunno.. I haven't had a problem swallowing any of my medications yet.. but most of them are pretty small anyway except for the pain medicine my surgeon gave me.

I had my surgery done at UVA and was really not impressed with the staff there.. but my surgery went well and I'm almost back to normal. My appetite is still pretty much the same but I can't eat nearly as much and really don't feel like I've lost any lbs but maybe some inches.

  13. Oh my Lord, the headaches. I can't seem to get rid of them. Any advice would be great. Not sure if it is from the surgery or my sinuses. HELP!!! Not too mention I am having a hard time getting comfortable laying, sitting, etc. I feel like I am being a pain the arse right now, but not sure what I should do. I tried the heating pad, my recliner, my bed, couch, when will I start feeling better????

I was banded on May 9th and it took me a good 5 days to start feeling better. Now I'm back at work and feeling pretty much normal except for a few burning pains every now and then. Good luck!

  14. I don't have a pre-op diet either unless you count what I'm doing now which is 48 hours of Clear liquids and laxatives but that's nothing compared to what some people have posted here such as a month long liquid diet and so on. I think surgeons have different approaches to the way they like to do their surgeries and what works best for them is what they reccommend.

and since I keep getting overlooked.. I'm being banded TOMORROW!!

    YaY me!

  15. How is everyone tonight? It is day 4 for me, and I am feeling more like I will survive. I wish I didn't feel hungry, but I guess that just goes with the process. My shoulder is still hurting. I am so confused on what I can and can't have that I am scared to do anything!

    Ginger

I'm being banded tomorrow and I feel the same way even though I haven't had the surgery yet! I hope they give me a manual or something lol. Good luck going back to work!
