  1. I got banded orginially in Aug 09, then had to have a revision done Oct 2010 due to band slippage, I've done fine since they fixed and refilled band back up to 6.5 cc in 14cc band. About a week ago had terrible side pain and nausea which lasted for 2 days then violant vomiting once. Now for 5 days it seems like I can't eat hardly anything and seems like it takes alot longer to digest than normal, also seems like I have to wait a long time before I can drink anything. Anyone out that that has had a band slippage have any problems like this after having your band fixed? I'm so afraid its slipped again and what my doctors would do! I can't even get in to see my doctor today because of the MLK holiday!

  2. Had a revision surgery done on 10-16-10. Wasn't sure my band could be left in or not. But with great luck I was able to keep it. They did a endoscopy to make sure my stomach tissue was still ok. So now its starting all over again. No Fluid in band now, will see maybe in 2 weeks they will put some in. Although can't eat a whole lot now anyway. Question for all banders out there, did any of you suddenly start your monthly cycle after surgery. I am mid cycle and am having a period now. Also anyone having trouble taking oxycodone pain meds? It makes me not able to focus my eyes.

  3. From experience on this, I've had my band since August 09 with no problems until 3 weeks ago. I started vomiting and having trouble keeping food down, call into my doctor for appt for next week. But symptoms got worse with having trouble keeping liquid down and heartburn. So I got in yesterday had an upper gi, which showed by band had slipped. For me user error was not the issue. It's something that just happened. I have lost over a 100lbs and have done everything by the book. For me the took out everything in my band and am having surgery this Saturday to either revise or remove the band. My surgeon says he won't know what will happen until he gets in there and see's how the tissue looks. He also said that slippage is only in 5% of everyone. So my only word of advice would be is if you start to have trouble with vomiting go see your doctor.

  4. I was banded little over a year ago, with no real problems until recently. About 3 weeks ago I started having vomiting issues. Now its gotten to the point that not much stays down at all (liquids as well).

At times I can only drink or eat maybe 1/2 cup at a time and stay full for many hours. I'm having a hard time getting all the fluids I need to in a day. Sometimes food or liquids stay down for only 45 minutes to an hour then I'm vomiting again. I haven't had a fill since March so no change there. I can't get into my doctor for another 10 days and starting to get worried! Anyway know if this could be a symptoms of band slippage?

  5. Today at my 11mth post lap band surgery appt, I am now not morbidly obese, just obese! went from a BMI of 49.9 to 38.7 and lost 22% body fat! I weigh less than I did 18yrs ago and even could fit into my wedding dress (had to see if I could). Finally I can say the surgery was the best birthday present to myself! All encouragment I have for people that are struggling, is keep close contact with your doctor, eat 60 grams of Protein a day and drink your liquids!!!

  6. I'm a graveyard shift worker, had sugery last August. I have found that I'm not able to eat in the mornings until about 9am even on days when I'm not working. I tend then not to be able to eat any big meal at all until the evening time. As my doctor put it to me, we don't eat or drink during the time we sleep and whatever shift you work, so your body adjusts to eating around your sleep times (band is tighter during the time you dont eat or drink and when you first get up). So if you work graveyard then you usually won't be able to eat much when you first get up and the more Fluid you have in you the easier it is to eat!

  7. I was banded 8-19-09. My last fill was 1-21-10. I have 7.4cc in a 14cc band. Since my last fill I have been fine on eating until the beginning of March.

I now can't eat more than 1/2 cup without feeling horrible and or sliming/vomiting. I haven't had this problem before. I even have a hard time getting all my Fluid in during the day. I have to wait longer than an hour after eating to drink and can't eat for about an hour or so after I have drank.

Has anyone had this issue, or could it really be I'm at the "sweetspot" ? I have lost about 10 lbs so far this month, I know exercising has helped as well. Any advice if I should go back to my doctor and have some taken out or is this normal?

  8. I think I might have was people refer to as "sweet spot/restriction". Up until the end of January I was pretty much able to eat anything. However since then and more noticably in the last couple of weeks, I am only able to eat about 1/2 cup of food. Slider foods are easier to eat still not alot though. If I eat more than that I seem to have sliming and alot of nausea and feeling like I need to vomit to feel better. Is this normal?

  9. I was banded 8-19-09, and had a 14 cc band put in. I had my first fill 9-29-09 only 1cc put in already had 5.1 cc in it. Then on 10-28-09 went for next fill and have a total of 7.6 cc in it. I had no trouble swollowing Water and ok to leave. Now that I am able to eat, I can only eat about 3 spoonfuls of food (soups, cottage cheese). I tried eating meatloaf that was very moist and after a couple bites I was so full and had to vomit. Is this normal or do you think I have to much in?
