  1. I am so sorry to hear that your having this problem . . and I can just imagine how very scared you are. . . but you'll be ok, they will fix it and you'll go on. . . but for now, just try not to worry too much, your in good hands. they know what they are doing and have probably had this before. . i'll keep you in my thoughts! keep us posted as to whats going on with you ok? Good luck! Your going to be fine. . .
  2. ok, so heres the update on what happened here . . . so I've been going around all week stating "yeah well at least I don't lie on you" he just laughs this comment off but every now and then asked "how did I lie on you?" so yesterday i "gently" bring up the topic of having overheard him lie about the surgery. . . well didn't the shit hit the fan on his part. . . thank god i had had a glass of wine and was all mellowed out. . . I told him step by step very calmly what i heard and EXACTLY how it went. . .can you believe the bugger actually agreed that yes, he did tell daughter he wasn't supporting the band but was supporting the sleeve, and can you believe he agreed he did come to the bank, etc. . . but then he turned it around and said i went behind his back and secured a loan without him knowing. . .i "calmly" explained that i had to do that because i had to see if i could even get a loan for such a thing and that it was only good for 30 days anyhow . . . if i couldn't get the loan i wouldn't even had persuded the topic. . . i told him this was last october and the surgery wasn't till december. . the loan wasn't any good and WE had to reapply for a more expensive loan cause HE wanted the sleeve and not the band for which the first loan was for. . . well, I told him I didn't appreciate him lying on me AT ALL but that i forgive him. . . know what that bumbaclat said? "there is nothing for forgive here i did nothing wrong" and you know he is now giving me the cold shoulder and has not apologized at all. . . .33 years of marriage and it the love continues! He is an incredible stubborn jackass. . . . thank you for listening!
  3. I was eating "normally" and had a stall for 3 1/2 months! Talk about frustrating. . but it eventally moved on. . your body just needs to catch up. . . dont worry for now just concentrate on yourself and your new tummy. . .don't eat donuts though. . coffee with milk and sugar is ok, but not the whole lb of sugar! hehehe. . . just be normal and don't try to defeat the sleeve, let it work for you not you against it to see if it'll work. . . your the one who has to work this thing, it won't do it for you. . . good luck!
  4. OK, I'm in shock! You actually paid $112.00 for a turkey??????????????????
  5. I am so sorry this has happened to you! I can just imagine how you must feel. . but if you believe in the "path of life" you know that for everything there is a reason. . .there is a reason why this has been canceled like this. you will get your surgery eventually but when your path is ready for you. Good luck and keep positive!
  6. nita, let me tell you that your not alone. . .i really HATED my sleeve and had major buyers remorse for a really long time. . honestly i think it was for about the first 6 - 7 months. . I hated this thing, but look at it this way too. . .for so many years we were so accustomed to eating whatever and gaining weight and feeling so lowly and then suddenly it's all taken away and we have to relearn what to do with ourselves. . .no matter how prepared we "think" we were, you really are never prepared for this. . .it's sorta like the first pregnancy, you go to the stupid lamase classes, you learn to breath the pain away. . .then bang! the labor pain hits. . are you prepared??? I think not, do you just lay there and breath the F.... pain away? NO, you become the exorist in the flesh all from flying into the damn corner and spewing pea Soup, you didn't realize it was like this and you vow NEVER to do it again. . . well same with the sleeve, only this your stuck with for life. . .and you do get accustomed to your new lifestyle, I'm 10 1/2 months out, but i've gotten used to my new lifestyle, I still eat too fast sometimes, but am "reminded" of the fact really fast and start to slime! it comes with time, you won't get used to it immediately it takes time. . . don't get discouraged honey, just live your life one day at a time and readjust yourself. . . good luck!
  7. OLDTIMERS!!!!!! Now i really feel the loose skin! Get me that walker! No wait a nursing home sounds better!
  8. Yup, good old hormones whacked out! Had the problem myself until i helped solve it with benedryl and unisome (not together of course ) but after a while it does go away and you'll find you will sleep like a baby (without the 2 am feeding)
  9. San Antonio has a fabulous doc. Dr. Ramiro "Sonny" Cavazos. He was my physician and he is the best. . never makes you feel insignificant or anything. . very loving, hugs all around. . professional and never has had a patient go "bad" . . he's done 300 + of these surgeries and is very experienced. . . but he doesn't come cheap either. . .let me know and i'll give you his particulars. . .
  10. I'm 10 1/2 months out and can basically eat everything. I've noticed that my fresh fruit however has to be peeled and cored or i hurt alot. . salad took me a long time to figure out, but i can eat it now without pain, tomatoes still do a job on me, but if they are stewed it's ok.. .bread is really better toasted, goes down great, i can actually eat 2 slices toast alone, but a sandwich on plain bread is a bit of a challenge, 1/2 or 3/4 is ok, but i bloat up really fast and start to slime, rice is ok? does the same thing as plain bread, 2-3 tablespoons is my limit, depending on the day and if tummy wants to co-operate or not that day, tortillas? same as plain bread. . .same with spaghetti . . .beef (brisket, roasts, steak,) does NOT agree with me AT all, too stringy I guess. . .but these are my own personal experiences, your may be different. . . yup one of those trial and error thingys!
  11. Vanity isnt a strong point with me at this time. . I'm not movie star quality anyhow so the loose skin doesn't bother me in the least. . anyhow I'm pretty lucky i guess, I'm 6'0 tall so i don't have that much loose skin, just the pregnancy overlap from years ago, but heck there is always duck tape right????
  12. You have a lot to lose but you know what? YOU CAN DO IT!!! Just like the rest of us, just get down with it and GO!!! You'll get it once you get used to this thingy! It takes a bit to adjust but just like riding a bike, wobbly in the beginning but a true trooper once you get started! Good luck and keep writing and posting here, it helps alot, especially if you feel down or like you can't go on. . . it's helped me alot. . . even the odd disagreement helps!
  13. Well hello there, if you check out the forum you'll see a lot of us have or had over 100 lbs to lose. Check out my ticker and I still have have about 30 or so lbs left! It's been 10 1/2 months now since my surgery. . .i've been doing good up to now, never any complications and the best part i love missing those clothing sizes. . .tried on a mini skirt last night which had been sitting in my closet for over a year cause it never fit ever, still had tags on it and all. . well put it on and it dropped off. . . guess it wasn't meant to be huh??? Ask away!
  14. You guys are all the best! Wish I could just give you ALL one big hug ((((()))))). . . your all my cyber family and love each and every one of you. . . your the only ones who really understand and care! Thank you so much for your responses, they made me smile and guess what? I'm having it out with the bumbaclat tonight! :argue: How dare he lie like that! Daughter even called me and asked what was wrong with dad last night. . . if he forgot he had gone with me and it was HIM who called her and explained I was getting the sleeve done. . .errrrrr I'm feelin a bit better but he won't be later on. . . . :boxing:
  15. I totally love the mad ninja skills up his butt comment! That made me laugh, no I told my daughter the truth this morning in a text! She knows how he is and probably just was listening going "oh yeah? Really?? Your kidding" . . . bless her heart, but it really bugs me alot to have heard that! it really really did. . . thanks for making me laugh! Your the best!
  16. So I'm going along with life thinking everything is wonderful and grand! Lost alot of weight, look good, feel happy, life is good all around. . . or so I thought. . I should have seen this coming but I'm sooooooooooo incredibly stupid!! Ya'll don't have a clue! 10 1/2 months out of surgery suddenly my gut decides that it needs to catch a "bug". . I can't puke cause I can't so I'm stuck with the worlds worst nausea for the past week. . .ok fine, yes i loose a few pounds, big deal!!! Well as of yesterday I was only have waves of nausea, not too bad, but still didn't eat much. . .i go to shower and as i'm drying off don't i over hear DH telling my daughter the following "Yeah your mom's be consistently sick now. It's that surgery. . I never supported her with this, she went behind my back and got the loan, she could have done this all by herself, dieting isn't hard. . i gained 7 lbs and it was so easy to loose, all she had to do was eat less and exercise. I don't know why she did this, it was so dumb" I was so shocked to overhear that. . I have not confronted him about it cause it was not true, he was the one who came to the seminar and told me he'd only support the sleeve and not the band, he came with me to get the loan, cause we used my daughters' car and he had to sign too, and finally dieting isn't easy when you have close to 200 lbs to loose, 7 lbs is not even a dent into the bucket. . . I am so hurt at this time that he would have said that. . I probably won't tell him i overheard, but be damned if i tell him anything is wrong with me anymore either. . . Thank you for listening, it may just be a petty rant, but i needed to get it off my chest cause it hurts. . . .
  17. yeah, like Tiffy says just order a appetizer. Pick, pick, pick. push the food around poke it with the fork and do ALOT of talking, talk like you've never talked before. . go to the ladies room. . . excuse yourself to talk on the cell. . .just seem really busy! This works for me, and most people are very used to me now. . even at home, I sit down with my little bowl, pick a food, chew, swallow and yap my mouth off or get up and go do something else run around picking up stuff, starting a load of laundry, load the dishwasher, get others something to drink, pick up another food, good enough. . . throw it away and carry on. . . but that is just me. . good luck
  18. Bless your heart, i was just going to tell you to take smaller bites and wait at least 2 minutes between bites. . . I'm 10 1/2 months out and still wait 2 minutes between bites. . . literally I take my baby bowl of food sit down in front of the TV take a bite, chew like a mad woman, swallow, watch the clock thingy on the DVD player 2 minutes are up. . . next bite. . . then I only do this for 20 minutes and if I'm not done my bowl of food, I throw it out and wait for the next meal. . . aaaahhhhhh the life of a sleever good luck!
  19. Congratulations! I'm close on your heels as well. . I'm 10 1/2 months out and am loving my new life. . . Life really does get better at 50!
  20. FINALLY! SOMEONE AFTER MY OWN HEART!!!! Not weighing yourself every second! i used to do that too! Weigh only at the drs office. I had my surgery came home and tossed the scale out into the trash. . it was the best thing i ever did! At my 7th week i went to the doctor and had lost a whooping 53 lbs! I was so proud of myself it made it all worth while. Now at 10 1/2 months out and a loss of 140 lbs I'm really happy with myself. . . . YES pureed chicken and beef is just like paste no matter what you do to it. . .don't get upset with life at thanksgiving, you won't be able to eat much, only a bite here and there and you'll feel sorry for yourself. . . but you know what? It's ok! It's normal. . . we are so used to eating sooo much food all our lives and then suddenly overnight our tummy's are snatched away from us and we are EXPECTED to change our ways. . . It's really hard, but in time you will learn what to do. . I still have some problems at times in that I don't have time to eat properly and eat junk food. . .thank god for pork rinds though! I eat those alot. . . no carbs~!!!!! But you will do fine! Just wrap your head around the new you and take it easy. . .don't beat yourself up and keep on doing what you do! Have a blessed thanksgiving and give blessing to the ones around you and not on what you have lost. Good luck!
  21. Hi , I don't post often anymore, but would like to "talk" to you as a "seasoned" sleever. The pain is not horrible at all. .c/sections and hysterectomies hurt alot more then this does. . just make damn sure you do your walking every couple of hours and sipping of liquids. . . when you get home continue to walk and sip. . if not, you'll run into complications with gas pain and so on. . . None of us have died yet being on liquids for the 2 weeks. you will be ok. . you have to think positively about this. . if not, get ready for some problems. I hated my sleeve the first few months, and the reason was because I couldn't eat like the pig i was. . . I wanted to stuff everything into my face and snort and grunt, but I couldn't. . .I could only eat small portions and sip liquids, like a proper lady. . . i really really hated it, but now 10+ months out, I am so proud of myself, I eat like a proper lady and actually watch how the "other side" eats now. . . I would have this surgery again, but be forwarned, you have to prepare yourself for this, both emotionally and physically. . . don't just jump into thinking it'll do all the work for you it doesn't you have to do the work. . . just like a hammer, it's just a tool, you are the one who has to make it work. . .if not and your not ready, don't do the surgery. . I love Downs children, they are all so cute and sweet. . .they give and show love so openly. . you want to be there for them, you will enjoy your trip with them, you will be proud of yourself once you get over the initial hurl, you will have a good time not only with them, but with your new self, and hubbie. . . congratulations on your February date! You are going to do well. . . just be prepared please!

Nope, quite right, now i get that nice buzz with just 1 or 2 drinks. . that is my limit though, no more than that. . it dissappears as fast as you get it too, so you can reassure the buzz is gone after about 2 hours.
  23. thinoneday replied to tbtroy78's topic in The Guys’ Room
hahaha. . .I wouldn't want to try a bear either! I am about 10 months out now and seriously enjoy my rum and coke every weekend! Not to the drunk point mind you cause the sleeve won't allow that. But if you allow your coke to defizz a bit (sit around for about 1/2 hour) and then mix your drink, you'll find it works great. I hate beer so i don't drink it, so i couldn't tell you about that but it probably will fill you up really fast cause of all that foam in it!
  24. someone is trying to scare the poopoo out of you. . .honey this surgery was my 18th major surgery. All 17 others have been do or die surgeries as well. . . i'm living proof that i'm still here. . I'm out now almost 11 months, have lost 140 lbs and am living life great! I'll be here to see my daughter graduate college and get married! I can actually do things now that i only used to dream about. . . i'm livin life! Girl get your surgery! Do your thing so you can be there for the kiddos. . .if you don't will you be there for the kiddos? Think about that one. . good luck, dry those eyes and take your naps. . .gosh that is why your crying, hon your tired! btw, my doctor has done over 300 cases and hasn't lost one patient yet! His partner has never lost a patient in the 5 years he's been doing this surgery. .
