  2. Hi, San Antonio here. . . getting sleeved on December 29th! Yeah!!!!
  3. congratulations on the WIN! Good for puppy! The little girl will get it one day. . . bless her little bichon frises heart! You'll get there and be right up there with the other handlers soon! Just wait, be patient and it will happen!:crying:
  4. I'm sorry to hear about your son, how old is he? Regardless, it's always hard to hear when a loved one gets cancer. . .it's so hard. . .I was considering the band for a long time, but hubbie would not hear of it. . . so finally i convinced him to come to a seminar and it was him who told me that he would support me 100% only if i got the sleeve and NOT the band. . . so the sleeve it is. . . I go for my surgery on dec. 29th. Good luck with your personal decision. . . Merry Christmas and the best of the New Year!
  5. Anyone else having their surgery on Dec 29th?
  6. Excellant work to both of you! One day, I'll be saying the same thing!
  7. How did it feel when you ate the ice chips?
  8. Wow chancie, I totally teared up and cried for you! That is so wonderful~! We struggle so hard with this weight issue! It's is such a glorious thing to hear how successful you are and how far you have come. Congratulations my friend! Keep up the totally FANTASTIC job!:lol0:
  9. Hey gals, could some one tell me something here please, I heard that if you already have your gallbladder out that the surgery will be more complicated than if it was still intact. . . is that true???? I find that kinda hard to believe.
  10. Bonnielass, I did just what Tiff explained and my surgeon was really pleased to know that I was actually asking those questions. . .he was right in there like a dirty shirt! He was honest about it, especially when I asked how successful he has been as a surgeon with the sleeve procedure. . . he said, "it's a fairly new procedure, I have done more bands, and only about 200 sleeves, but I have never had a leak" So that was comforting, he also told me that I would be in hospital overnight for sure, get a leak test done, and if there was one he would do an oversew to correct it. . . he told me I didn't need a preop diet cause my BMI wasn't high enough! Talk about a NSV!!! I told him i would rather do a pre-op diet however, he must of thought I was nuts, but he said, sure that will make my job alot easier! he was so pleasant and courteous. I had a good feeling with him too. . . so I trust him. . even though I know that I'm just another dollar sign walking around! hehehehe
  11. You sound good ML! Hope your feeling well. . .are you having some pain? Gas? My surgery is on Dec 29th, I don't know how I feel right now. . . this morning I was like "what the hell am I doing" . . . now I'm like indifferent about it. . . my body tells me "I'm hurting so much you need to do this so you lose weight and I won't hurt so much" my brain tells me "your crazy girl!". . . I don't know. . . . thanks for listening.
  12. Welcome to all the new folks! The more the merrier I always say! More to chatter with! Good luck to y'all
  13. Your date will get there before you know it! Just hang in there. . .unfortunately when you go through insurance that is what happens. . .I opted to go self pay and got my surgery date on December 29th . . . I'm really happy and anxious at the same time. . . it'll be my 18th major surgery, but feels like the 1st one:scared0:. . . .ehhehehe. . . good luck and keep us posted
  14. Thank you so much for that bit of advice, I never even thought about that!
  15. Steph, my mom told me about looking old. . . she said "if you lose weight, you will look much older then your sister, do you really want that" I was really upset with mom, and told her it didn't matter as long as the pains went away. . . she didn't say much after that. . . but how dare she. . .
  16. As my date comes closer too, I've told more people. . . actually at work I've been getting quite a few negatives. . . one good one was " I can't believe the director actually approved your surgery, doesn't he know it's elective and you don't really need it". . . that one nearly blew my mind, but of course if you saw that person you'd understand. . . very selfish, fat, and jealous. . . another one of course reminded me of the model from Buenos Aires who died from the butt implant. . . I reminded her that I wasn't getting my ass worked on so I didn't need to worry about that. . . she shut up pretty fast. . . I'm sure that since these two people know about the surgery, it won't take long before the whole company knows. . . but that is ok! I haven't told my mom, sister or brother because they are worse then my co-workers. . . I'll tell my mom when she comes to visit me next year and notices my weight loss. . . or I'll just tell her I'm eating less and exercising, which of course won't be a lie. . . hehehe. . . but yeah, damned if you do, and damned if you don't. . . if your too fat your told not to eat too much, if your losing weight, your told not to lose too much. . . people have soooooooooooooo much advice, but they themselves don't listen to their own yapping. . . .good luck with all y'all do!
  17. That is excellant! Your doing really well. . . see those other days of worrying about not losing were just little setbacks. . . nothing to worry about. . . I'm so happy it's coming together for you! A medium is excellant, don't think I've ever worn a medium in my life, not even as a baby:w00t: hehehe. . . .I have my date, Dec 29th! I'm really excited!
  18. Yup, i'm in the same boat as you are. . . my surgery is on Dec. 29th. . . I start my pre op diet on the 17th. . . I didn't have to do a preop, but told doctor i would like to do one. . . he told me it would definately make his job alot easier, soooooo. . . like you I'll be doing 2 protein shakes and 1 meal consisting of a palm sized piece of meat and a palm sized portion of veggies. . . interesting. . . well, if you haven't found it bad, then that is good. . . i hope i'll be the same way. . . this will be my 18th major surgery and I'm as nervous and jittery as a june bug! guess surgery isn't something you get used to. . . good luck to you, when is your surgery?
  19. How wonderful everyone is doing! I, like Tiffy, will be losing quickly. . . . from what I know of myself from tried and failed diets, I lose weight fast (100 lbs in 8 months) that was fast. . . but of course, once i stopped the phentermine, it came on faster then 7 months but at least i didn't gain more then where i started from. . . good job to all the ladies and gentlemen . . . it is a lot of work, and you all deserve big hugs ! Keep up the good work!
  20. Well at least you didn't show up naked! Just have a garage sale after and make back your money. . .or give them to an overweight friend or family member. . . I do understand, it's happened to me often. . . it is very frustrating and irratating, but at least I looked presentable and then sold them at a garage sale and got my money back. . . it's not a weird rant, it is life. . .
  21. I did the same Rose, and found my doctor to be very competent, smart, and honest. . . he did say that he hasn't done more then 300 sleeves and that he has done lapbands more, he did answer my questions regarding boughies and oversewings. . . he did talk very intelligently and he is the medical director of surgery. . . his reviews were very good, he has never had any malpractice suits against him and he seems caring and have a genuine interest in the patients. . . but of course money does a lot of the talking too. . . where doesn't it do the talking?
  22. Wow ML, your an inspiration to me. . . I finally got my surgery date for Dec. 29th. . .I really happy. . . the doctor told me my BMI wasn't high enough to be put onto a pre-op diet (41) but I told him I would like to go on it. . . he looked at me as if I had let the cheese slide off the cracker. . . he said ok, it would make his job easier anyhow. . . so I'll do it, I start on the 15th. . . just reading your post makes me think, wow your doing so good! I should be able to do it!!! You'll do well with your surgery, I just know it! . . . good luck and best to you!
  23. thank you so much for sharing your story. . . how sorry I feel for your mother in law. . . some people who have this surgery think this is a miracle cure to their obesity, they want to wake up and "poof" be thin and never have to think about it ever again. . . little do they know that even with this surgery, they have to work at it. . . they have to diet and exercise, the sleeve is drastic yes, but I totally agree with you, there should have been a psychological evaluation and a nutritional evaluation. . . i couldn't even think about the surgery without the following things. . . I HAD to go to a seminar with my husband, attend the psychological eval and the nutritional eval. . .then the doctor questioned me on my wanting the surgery and when he found out that i didn't want the surgery to miraculously become the next Miss America, but rather to improve my health and well being, it was then that he told me I would be a good candiate for the surgery. . . I researched this for over 1 year and then hubbie and I agreed on it. . . I wish your motherinlaw had done the same. . . it would be alot easier on her. . . and not to be mean or make you feel bad, but is she an attention seeker? Do you think all this may be for attention? It's not my place, but maybe a psychiatrist might be in order. . . I'll say a prayer for all of you and wish you all the best, it's hard, but God never gives us more than what we can bear. . . .
  24. Ok, I've a gold card from GNC too, so I'll just go over there and get it. . . thanks!
  25. Good for you Tiffy! It's a long struggle, but I'm so glad there is help out there for us, that is a great BMI. . . the doctor thought my BMI of 41 was not enough to put me on a pre-op diet. . . . that was my first NSV! :001_tongue:
