    November Knockouts DATA - update

HEY ALL!!! I am adding and updating the list up to this point for November. I agree with CCWEEKS that we will update in the NOVEMBER 2009 GROUP. There are too many threads to keep track of. I will not be able to update the list weekly, but if you want to post weekly, that is fine. Just make sure you post AT LEAST ONE UPDATE PER MONTH - maybe your "Bandiversary"? Thanks all! If you haven't joined the November group, join now!

My thighs dont touch anymore LOL

oh i cant wait til that day!
  5. So many never agains... - i work in a school, so never again will i squeeze my fat ass into one of those freaking desk, with my "extra boobs" piling over the top - never again will i be embarrassed about what's in my grocery cart and paranoid that everyone is judging my choices.... - never again will i have to go to the "left" (or right) of the door at the clothing store to get to the plus size half - never again will i be "such a pretty face"... knowing they are thinking .... but so fat  - never again will i wear capris all summer in 100 degree weather because i wouldnt dare put on shorts - never again will my son suffer at MY weight. just yesterday I called to set up swim lessons and had to make sure it wasn't a "mommy and me" class first, because if it was, i wasn't doing it. how sad for my son - never again will i be ashamed to do ANYTHING because someone might say something rude in front of a new boyfriend, etc and just make me want to DIE (there are some RUDE freaking people in this world)! - never again will i have to stalk the tables and booths in a restaurant to 1. make sure ill fit at the booth and 2. make sure i can find a semi-direct path that doesnt require my belly and butt rubbing someone else's chair - or worse, having to ask them to "scoot" - never again will i stand all day at a BBQ because I am scared of chairs - listen to that SCARED OF CHAIRS! how pathetic! because i wont fit, they might break, the arms will dig in and my fat will squeeze out, etc - never again will i have to skip the cute shoes because they dont come in "WIDE" - never again will i be ashamed to go to the food table at a party or cookout or whatever because im too ashamed of what people think when they see me up there eating - never again will i be the "fat mom" at my son's activities

    Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Hi Knockouts! I'm 9 days out and doing well. Pain is all gone except when I bend over, the port hurts. I'm actually beginning to wonder if it's going to have to be moved. I am high waisted and it's right where I bend... Got moved to mushies on Tuesday, so I was able to have some mashed taters and green Beans on Thanksgiving. Getting the liquids in is much easier now, too. I go Dec 28 for my first fill and should be able to move to regular foods 2 days later. Mushies really do fill me up though, so let's hope tht keeps up for the coming month! Only 3 more days for our fellow Knockouts! Who's left to be banded and how are you doing?
  9. I had to stop aspirin a week before and BC two days before, but started BC back up the day after. Discuss with dr. Doesnt seem there should be such drastic differences.... but when all is said and done, you gotta do as they say...

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

Hey thre N09K! Today, Day 5, and feeling ok. Pain is just about gone, except a little with coughing, laughing, getting up and down. However, extreme fatigue hit me today. I could barely get off the couch! I'm also starting to get hungry, but a 1/3 cup of cream of chicken soup fills me right up. Doesn't quite "hit the spot" but at least does the trick, you know? Tomorrow is my follow up and I should be moved to mushies. Best of luck to those with surgeries in the coming week!

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

Hot Toddy, I did a barium swallow after. It's just to make sure stuff can get through ok, that there isn't too much swelling. TOday is Day 4 for me and feeling so much better. They only pain is slight when I am trying to get up and down from couch, etc. Of course, no bending or lifting allowed, but I'm sure that would hurt too! The gas is gone, although I do feel a bit bloated. I am getting all of my liquids in fine (32 oz Protein and 32 oz clear). Because I am getting it all in finally, I am actually feeling full for the first time in weeks... Cetainly no restriction, but at least that sensation is there. I go back on Tuesday for advancement (hopefully!) to mushies. YAY TO ALL MY FELLOW KNOCKOUTS!

I was on clear liquids just the day of surgery. Was allowed to go to full liquids the next morning. Honestly though, I am not hungry at all and I'm barely getting 20 oz of clear and 20 oz of protein.... supposed to have 32 oz of each... on top of that im getting about 1/4 cup of creamy chicken broth and I'm more than done. Follow up at DR on Tuesday to be moved to mushies.

    Any November 2009 Bandsters??

FYI - Pre Op diet people - the icky-ness you feel a few days into it is often referred to as the "atkins flu". If youve ever done atkins (or anything high protein, low carb - hello pre op diet!) its just a phase your body goes through with the dietary changes. luckily it only lasts a day or 2!

    Time off work for Recovery?

Hard to say since everyone is different... Im two days out and couldn't imagine being ready to go back on Monday, but in 5 days I might be ok.... I am a counselor, so I basically have a desk job, but the getting up and down is the worst part. Once I'm sitting, I am ok.

    Any November 2009 Bandsters??

The pain is a tiny bit better, but still bad. THe gas is just about gone. Only feel it now and again. But the stomach muscle pain is ridiculous. I have Dilautid for pain. I take tylenol in between, but the meds really don't seem to help much. I am sleeping in my bed, but the getting up and down is killer. Yesterday, I managed to get down 22 oz of Protein shakes (32 gr protein) and 20 oz of clear liquids. It's SUPER hard to get the liquids down. I am working a bit faster today, so hope to get to 32 and 32. My nose is horribly dry from the oxygen - if you have a humidifier at home, you might want to use it the first day or two. I feel absolutely no restriction, but my dr said the band wasn't even really touching my stomach yet because my anatomy was pretty small in comparison. I would guess that means I'll get a fairly large fill at my first.

I gave myself a blue ribbon! lol!

    wow! great job!
  22. I have crohn's disease so i take 18 pills a day - 2 of them are tiny, the other 16 are all the same - about the size of the metal end of a pencil (not including eraser) and i usually take them 4 at a time, 4 times a day. yesterday after surgery, the doctor had me take one with thim there. it went fine. he suggested i take one per hour every waking hour for the next few days. its gone fine today. he said after a few days, i should be able to take them 4 at a time.... just a few minutes apart each. after fills, he suggests the same one an hour approach. this medication is the ONLY formulation, no liquids, crushables, etc. seems good so far, keeping my fingers crossed.
  23. thanks so much! hurting lots, but hoping it gets better soon. gas pain not so bad, but the stomach muscles are KILLER.

    Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Hi all! Surgery Day was yesterday, so I am officially banded! Went in at 6:30AM. Surgery started promptly at 8. I remember looking at the clock in recovery and it was 9:09. At 11:30, I had an upper GI. Everything looked good. Pain wasn't too bad at that time, but I was definitely juiced up! Went back to surgery suite after upper GI and was allowed to leave at 1:00. The pillow on the belly definitely helped during the 2 hour car ride home. Gas pains were pretty bad. I was taking the Gas X strips as suggested on here, but DR said they only help bowel gas and since the gas was in my body cavity, they wouldnt help. But I'm taking them anyway! :scared2: Home pain med is Dalotid (sp). Takes the edge off but thats about it. I have 5 incisions and the one I assume is the port (about 4 inches above belly button) is CRAZY BAD PAINFUL! I slept pretty well last night on my back, even though I am a side sleeper. Getting up and down is the worst - like my stomach muscles have been beaten and shredded and stabbed. Wait - they have! Seriously, stomach muscle pain is BAD. Took me a good 5 minutes to get out of bed. Not so bad just sitting around. And once I am up and moving, I am ok, as long as I hunch a little. Words of advice - definitely bring chapstick and a small pillow and SUPER STRETCHY pants - like pjs 3 sizes too big! And ask for ice chips immediately. Throat hurt from intubation, but is almost normal today. I was able to get down about 15 ounces thoughout yesterday afternoon/evening. Today, I've had 11 oz Protein shake and am working on Clear liquids now. I feel like I'm constantly drinking! I hope the stomach pain begins to subside soon.... Good luck to all as their surgeries approach! Hard to believe it's over!

    protein shakes

I just opened a Muscle Milk Light chocolate for "lunch". ICK! Tastes like spoiled chocolate milk. EWWWW. READY MADE: EAS is the best I've had so far. Atkins isn't too bad, but a bit watery with a slight chemical aftertaste. Slimfast high Protein is the next I will try. POWDERS: I have Chike, unjury, and Bari Care to try - all flavors of each. Hope these are better than this muscle milk!
