    Kaiser northern california

I started going in 2009 for band adjustments after I moved Was told the only one the area. I moved to Fremont from San Jose 2 years ago and noticed they has a program but she my dr put in a transfer I never heard so I have been continuing up there. Now that I had my revision surgery I think I'm going to try and transfer again as I would love to be 5 min away instead if 45-1 hr.

how is the program in Fremont? I live in Fremont but go to south San Fran kaiser which can be a pain to travel all the time.
  4. I have told everyone pretty much. Most knew I already had the band from 2008 and was switching to the sleeve. There is a group of us at work that is close and they keep me on track and have taken turns making gym dates with me so I don't have to go alone. I like having the support system and it keeps me true to the diet because so many people are cheering for me. Now which that. Bring said do what is comfortable for you. You may start off with telling one coworker and as time goes by you may tell others.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I am right there also. I have one more week if soft foods and I'm struggling to get thru it. Never thought it would be so hard. I have to keep reminding myself it will be worth it in the end. I hoping to give myself a jump start this weekend to get back on track.
  7. I'm currently in a stall and I tell myself don't worry it will pass. No going to lie it is hard but I know there will be more. I need to adjust my calorie intake and up Protein a little. I am to get 500-1000 calories a day but my week has been nuts this week and my protein won't be here till tomorrow so I know it's causing the stall. I have one stubborn incision that is not fully healed so it's keeping me out of the pool and gym. My dr won't let me till it's fully healed so just walking for now. I lived so long on slider foods when I could get things down with the band so I won't even let them in the house so I don't fall for them. I know we want to succeed so bad we are will to do everything step by step. I have seen people eating things a few days out or a couple of weeks and I'm like man I'm not budging on mine. There is a reason we are given guidelines to follow for so many weeks and I'm not about to set myself up. This next month will pass quick. I can't believe it's been 5 weeks since I had mine feels just like yesterday. My NUT has been a big help, when I don't feel like I'm doing right I just email her and she gives me suggestions or says nope you are on track. If you can use your NUT to help thru the soft food stage so you can meet your calorie intake goals etc.

sorry to ) sorry to hear you are going thru this, how are things going?
  9. This time around I'm weighing my food, drinking my Protein shakes, logging my food (still a hard one for me but doing it). Plus working out. I also have a great group of co-workers/friends who keep me on track and take turns meeting me at the gym to worm out with me. I have stuck to hr pre-op diet, still on soft foods for another weeks and a half. I had the band in 2008 and lost 121 lbs. then got pregnant in 2011 and the last 3 years have been tough can't get food or liquid down, 24/7 acid reflux. Had,y band emptied and put back close to 100lbs in the 3 years. We found my band was sitting higher then it should so that was my issue. I got sleeved on 6/18/14 and the last 5 weeks have been awesome. I can keep foods down and no reflux issues at all. I'm down 27 lbs and feel great. I still have the mind games but I tell myself it will all be worth it in the end so I take it a day at a time. Set my goals small so I don't get frustrated when I don't make a big goal. I also try not to look back, I know I didn't fail as I did lose, it was my body rejecting the band in the end and it needed to come out. But of course those thoughts pop up and I just tell myself keep moving forward with your new life. It was hard to prepare the second time around because the risk if complications go up with revision. I waited from Oct 2013 till May of 2014 to say yes to doing the surgery. I was so glad to hear there was not a lot of scar tissue and my dr was able to remove it all so my risk for a leak dropped a little. The worst was getting my port out as it was embedded ( I told my dr's for years I always had pain there now we know why). I must say the surgery was pretty easy took my dr an hour to do it all I. One surgery I stayed in the hospital 2 days and went back to work a week later.

    Lap-band to Sleeve, Any Advice?

I started having issues after having my son in 2011. Couldn't keep food or liquid down and had 24/7 acid reflux. My dr emptied my band and it helped but the weight came back on. This year after having a slight tear in my MCL and it took 6 months to heal (all dr that took care of me said my weight slowed down the recovery) I knew I needed a change. So on 6/18 I got the sleeve done and big 27 lbs down and feeling good. I can eat, drink and no acid reflux issues. Just kicking myself I took so long to do it when my dr suggested it last year.

    Kaiser northern california

I wanted to say good luck. My time line is different since I was a revision so I didn't have to go thru everything. I had my surgery in 6/18 out of south San Fran kaiser. On 4/29 my dr and I said it was time for revision he gave me 3 days in June and I picked the 18 th and I was in.
  13. Before surgery I like premier protein, EAS and pure protein but boy after surgery the pre made drinks made me sick way to sweet. I did find Unjury chocolate splendor powder after surgery and that is my go to now. In my liquid stage I had sugar free Popsicles, cream of broccoli soup (no chunks), decaf tea and coffee, applesauce and yogurt. I also got some crystal light, mio to flavor my water. This helped me get down my fluids easier as it didn't feel like I was always drinking water.

    Introduction

I had revision on 6/18 due to many of the same reasons as you. I'm glad I switched and love my sleeve so far. I have Kaiser and am glad I didn't have to go thru all the hops to get approved. Since we had 3 years of documented testing, issues etc that was enough to get it approved and paid for.

    acid reflux band to sleeve

I was banded in 2008 and got 24/7 acid reflux in 2011 after having my son. Only time no issue was when my band was empty. So got revision on 6/18 and a month out and no issues thank god. It's so nice to not have to deal with it.

Band to sleeve, same op, August 12th !

I had it all in one on 6/18. I was worries I would wake up with no sleeve due to the scar tissue but thank go I had very little (banded in 2008 ) and my dr was able to remove it all. I was nervous about a leak as well but I knew I had to have the surgery so I could get back to heathy. Good luck to you all on your upcoming surgeries.

Band to sleeve revision and pain

I had my revision on 6/18 and had the pain on both sides. Left was a little more painful as my port was embedded so took my dr a bit of work to get it out. Overall the pain slowly got better each day and by the time I was 3-4 weeks out I was feeling good. Everyone is different in healing so hopefully you guys bounce back quicker.

    Another Band Fail

Wow my story is pretty close to yours. Banded in 2008 lost 121 lbs got pregnant and had my son in 2011. And boy did all the issues start. Went thru many upper GI's, infill, fills etc. I put back on 100 lbs in the last 3 years. I finally had revision surgery to the sleeve on 6/18 and this past month has been great. Down 27 lbs, can eat and keep food down, no acid reflux or heartburn issues. So wish I didn't wait so ling but hey I'm back on the path to lose the weight now. My Dr was worried at what type do scar tissue I,would have nut thank god there was not much and he was able to remove it all, the biggest was my port was embedded in my stomach muscle and that has been the spot that is still a little tender. Good luck and praying you get approved for revision.
  20. yes I have been since the beginning of July. I lean towards mashed sweet potatoes but will have regular potatoes also.
  21. I started with eggs, but now added mashed potatoes, refried beans, really soft carrots or green beans, cottage cheese, soft fruit with no skin ( more mushy fruit)
  22. For me is getting my energy back. I'm a month out and I get pretty worn out still. Then it has to be not to drink while eating. I have to remind myself and even started to not take my cup to the table so I don't have to worry about it.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Had my revision to sleeve on 6/18 and boy can't believe a month has already passed. I'm down 27 lbs and slowly getting back to my normal self. I still get worn out each day (doesn't help work is crazy and stressful right now). I'm still struggling to get all my protein in and just don't know what to do. I really can't stand the protein shakes but force myself to get at least one down a day. I'm still on soft foods and liquids for another 2 weeks. I can also start to work out lightly so planning my gym trips. I still have one incision that needs to finish healing and then I can get back to swimming also. Good news is with what I have lost my knees are not bothering like they where, thank god as I could barley get thru a day. My boss and co-workers have been great and the support they give me is awesome. They make sure I'm eating, get up and walk and not sitting at my desk all day. Can't wait to see what the next month brings.
