Do you like foods you used to dislike?

So far I haven't tried much I didn't like as I'm still in soft foods for 2 more weeks. But I used to love tuna fish sandwiches so I tried tuna over the weekend and boy I can't stand it now. So I curious to later try foods I didn't like when I can. I'm craving scallops and before surgery I wasn't not a fish eat (except the tuna).

    Pre-Op Appoinment july 22

My pre-op was just to make sure I,had done all the required blood work (dr requires cross and type etc but only 14 days before surgery). And any last minute questions I may have had for my dr. Then his assistant gave me a sheet of what to do the night before and morning. Of surgery, like showering, shaving and eating etc. every dr is going to be different but mostly just last minute things that need to,be done closest to,your surgery day. Good luck to you

    Needing advice

You can. I was banded in 2008 and had a baby in 2011. My dr emptied my band to 3cc's and it stayed that way during the whole pregnancy. Once you have you apt and it's confirmed contact your WLS Dr so they can adjust your band. With my medical group they consider me high risk and that meant I got extra ultrasounds, which who would complain at a chance to see their baby. Best of luck to you and congrats

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I have done the same thing. My co-workers keep me on my toes and I even have ones signing up to work out with me. They hold me accountable so I don't go back to my old ways.

    What are you drinking?

I was just thinking the other day man I could use something different to drink. I am doing water, crystal light, decaf tea or coffee. I don't crave soda as I haven't had one in 6 years. But man I would love an Arnold Palmer (ice tea with lemonade). But I would have to make my own as most come with caffeine and can't have caffeine.

    Protein shakes and vitamins

Of all the protein I tried from Pure Protein, Premier Protein, EAS, Isopure my favorite is Unjury chocolate splendor powder. You can go on Unjury website and order a sample/starter pack and they will send you 2 envelopes of 5 flavors to try. The premade shakes after surgery are now way to sweet for me. For vitamins I use trader joes chewable multi and get a chewable calcium from celebrate vitamins. Celebrate vitamins has a sample pack you can get for $3 bucks as well and the. If you rider you get a $3 credit in your first order.
  7. I for my band in 2008 and lost 121 lbs. had a baby in 2011 and all the issues started. 24/7 acid reflux, couldn't keep food or liquid down. Went thru many test to see what was going on. Only time i didn't have issues is when we emptied my band. So on 6/18 I got my band out and revision to the sleeve. I'm now 3 weeks out and boy what a difference. No acid reflux and it feels good to keep down food. I would talk to your dr about what is going on so they can see what is happening with your band and then together you guys can figure out what needs to be done

    Fruit

I'm 3 weeks out and I'm able to add well cooked and puréed vegetables and can have a slice of pear (no skin) or 1/4 of a banana, 1-2 slices of peach. Trick is to make sure they are soft. But of course double check with your dr office to be safe.
  10. good luck to you. I'm now 3 weeks out from my surgery and feeling great.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

    Thanks Sarah.
  15. I'm 2 weeks out from my revision and was so nervous my Dr wouldn't be able to do it all in one. Thank god there was very little scar tissue and he was able to clean it up and do the sleeve. My port was embedded so that took a little digging to get out and that incision site and area are still a little sore to me. Doesn't surprise me as I've complained of port pain since. Y band surgery in 2008. So far I. Doing well down 23 lbs in 2 weeks and no acid reflux issues and able to keep food down. Feels so good to eat and drink again without the issues.

Band To Sleeve With No Info!

I was banded in 2008 lost 121 lbs, had a baby in 2011 then all my problems started. In the ended emptied my band is the only thing that would allow me to keep food down and no acid reflux but between the pregnancy and open band I out back on 100lbs. So on 6/18 I got revision to sleeve and boy these last 2 weeks have been awesome. I'm able to eat and drink with no issues and keep it down. No acid reflux issues either. I wish I did this back in Oct when my Dr first suggested it but I put it off till now. My biggest worry was if the band caused to much scar tissue my Dr wouldn't. It have been able to do the sleeve but thank god there was little and he was able to clean it all out. Eating and drinking is the same small bites, chew well, no drinking while eating. My dr has no soda ( no issue here since I've been off them since 2008 )no straws. Since I'm still on soft foods I can't say if food that caused issues with the band are good now but I sure hope so and can't wait to find out.
  17. I was banded in 2008 and lost 121 lbs. the. I had my sin in 2011 and let's just say the next 3 years where not fun. Could not keep any food down even soup and dealt with 24/7 acid reflux. Only time I had no issues is when my band was emptied. My dr had me do several test to see what was going on and found my band was sitting a little higher then normal, after my pregnancy. So I finally said enough and on 6/18 I got revision to the sleeve. Thank god there was not a lot of scar tissue from the band and my dr was able to clean it up. I'm now 2 weeks out and feel good. It is so nice to be able to eat and drink and keep, food down. I'm still worried of a leak but don't stress over it. Yes if there are major issues they I'll revise to DS or RNY but all depends on what is going on.

    Pain after sleeve surgery?

I'm 2 weeks out and overall I'm pain free. At first it was hard to get I. And out of bed with the incisions but over time it gets easier. I've been off pain meds for over a week now. I had no issue with gas pain but if you do walking helps with that. The biggest challenge for me is getting my energy back it's been slow and at times still I need to nap because I'm so worn out. Everyone is different and it all depends on how well you tolerate pain.

  21. first congrats. I'm 2 weeks out and still sore from one of my incisions (this is where they had to dig out my port from the lapband.) I am not taking pain meds during the day as I went back to work this week but have at night to help out so i can get some rest.

    Support

Mine has been through this twice now with me. This time he said do what I did ( he did this whole clean eating, no sugars or processed foods) and lost over 100lbs this year. I go you know I have tried so many diets and I struggle and need some extra help. I go I just need you to support me with my choice and he goes I totally do. So maybe just sit him down and explain the pros and cons and tell him you need him behind you. He may support you now but can also be scared as it is major surgery so he can come across to you as he may not bee 100% behind you.
