  1. Hi all -

Well, first of all, it's been a while since I have posted on here and checked in with everyone. I realized this morning that 5 months ago today I had my LAP-BAND®® surgery. So, I wanted to post something and see how everyone is doing as they reach their 5 month mark.

    As of today:

    • I have 8.3 ccs in a 14 cc band and think I have fairly good restriction, but might need a small fill at my next appointment.
    • I have lost 73 lbs. ( I was hoping for 75, but just missed it!)
    • I still have a little over 100 to go until goal.
    • I feel happier, healthier, and better than I have in years!

  2. I'm in the same place with a bunch of you. scale has been hovering at the same place (up and down 2 lbs.) for a few weeks now. I'm at 8 cc in a 14 cc band. I'm not really feeling restriction. I have had one of two 'stuck' episodes, but when I forget to chew well and it goes away after a minute or two.

Other than that, no PB, no slime. And weight loss is stalled. I'm not eating bad, going to the gym 3-4 times a week, and still nothing. I'm really frustrated. I know I've lost a lot of weight so far, and don't get me wrong I'm thrilled about that. But I'm really frustrated that the scale is no moving right now. I was close to tears this morning when again, no movement.

So - I'm counting calories again, counting exercise, and hoping that I see movement soon.

Anyone go to a Lap Band Support Group? There's one at my surgeon tonight and I was thinking of going.

  3. I saw 299 today!!!! 299.6 with clothes and shoes on!!! If I could do a flip, I would! I haven't seen 2-anything in well over 10 years! Woohoo!!!

Not going to record it since I snuck and found the scale I had my hubby hide while he was at work this evening...only supposed to weigh myself on Thursday evenings...but WOW I am sooooo happy!

Liz - That's awesome!! Congratulations!!

  4. Well, I wont' be making my goal. I had a pretty aggressive one of 30 lbs. given I just got banded in December (3rd) and am still working through Bandster Hell.

Anyway, I did lose 17 lbs in the challenge and hope to increase that before Valentine's Day. Hopefully once I am feeling restriction, I will be able to drop the rest of the weight I wanted to lose for this challenge - and more!

  5. I am so close to losing 50 pounds that it is killing me because the scale has been stuck for over a week. It didn't help with super bowl yesterday and I did not eat the way i was suppose to.

I am in the same place. Just about to 50 and my scale is STUCK, STUCK, STUCK. :cursing: UGH!! I'm trying to hit the gym tonight and drink TONS of Water to see if I can get it moving again!

  6. New Joy - No problems with food yet, though after my second fill this week, I'm taking it easy! Oh yeah, and my tummy growls all the time too!!

Viv - a BMR of 1374 especially with all the exercise you do seems extremely low. being as active as you are, I would say your BMR is somewhere closer to 2300. Which means that to lose 2 lbs. a week, you might want to ingest closer to 1300 calories per day. Though I see a lot of people on these forums who regularly eat around 900 calories, so what do I know!! I agree with Mel, maybe talk to your doctor or nutritionist about this.

We are all moving closer to two months out from surgery (my two months was yesterday!), and I just wanted to say:

    WAY TO GO EVERYONE!

  7. :( I got my second fill today. I wasn't feeling restriction, so I was able to get an appointment and go back in. I had another 3cc's added, bringing my total to 6cc's in a 14cc band.

This time I got to do a barium swallow to check the band and make sure I wasn't too tight. Everything looked ok. So...

liquids tonight, Mushies tomorrow, then I'll see how much restriction I have now.

  8. funny story................

Before my surgery I took some "before" pics of myself in my sports bra and underwear (I didn't have a bikini!). Not the prettiest sight. Unfortunately I haven't had time to print one out and delete them off my computer.

So....the other day I hear my 7 year old twin daughers and their friend trying to repress laughs. When I went to see what's so funny, there my pictures are on a screen saver slideshow on my computer!!!!

    How embarrasing!!!

That is too funny! I wouldn't be too embarassed about it, before pictures are necessary so we can see the progress that we don't see when looking in the mirror everyday!

  9. Haven't posted to this forum in a while. Things have been really hectic outside of dealing with my band. The band itself has been ok. I'm eating more than I anticipated I would be after the band, but I am still losing weight, so I will take it! Still no fill, and as long as I am losing, I don't think I will get one, but I will talk to my surgeon. I have an appointment with him tomorrow afternoon.

  10. I'm worried too. Mainly that I will start to gain again after losing since beginning the pre-op diet.

My doctor said no fills until I am on solids for 2 weeks, which means not until around Jan 13th.

I guess my plan will be the following. Calorie counting until I get my fill. Making sure I stay within a calorie count that will still keep me loosing weight. And getting to the gym.

  11. I was banded on 12/3, so that's 2.5 weeks ago. I'm supposed to be on mushies now for the next 1.5 weeks.

Not sure how everyone else is doing, but I feel no restriction (probably because I have nothing in my band) and feel like I could eat anything. I've been doing mushies, but also a few non-mushies where I chew REALY well. So far, no issues. And my weight loss has stopped. UGH!

I can't get a fill for 3.5 weeks according to my doctor.

  12. Hi all - Just checking in. Half way through the month and so many people banded and about to be banded. YAY! Good Luck to everyone with their bands and recoveries!

I'm currently 2 weeks post-op. Back at work for the first time today. I'm feeling pretty much back to normal, except for one incision that is bugging me. Staples out this week and my larger incision is giving me some pain, however, all in all, I'd say it's going pretty well.

At times I am pretty hungry, but I think it's more mental than real hunger. It's still hard to be around others who are eating lots of whatever they want and I'm working on my mushies and chewing, chewing, chewing....

Oh yeah, and is anyone else burping all the time?? I eat anything, I burp. I drink something, I burp. It's constant and embarrassing!!

  13. I'm 6 days out from Surgery (9/3) and feeling much better today. I was having a lot of gas pain and soreness around the incisions.

Last night I slept through the night for the first time without waking up needing to take some pain meds.

Today, I got up and got out of the house for a while, did some shopping with a friend and didn't have too much pain or soreness at all. I'm hoping this means I am well on my way to recovery! :-)

  14. I was banded on 12/3/09 and I am having chest pains when I hicup. Is anyone else having this issue?

    Thank you~

I have been having hiccups and pain. I am guessing the hiccups are aggravating the gas in my stomach and causing the pain. I am also having lots of burping without really burping. I feel like I have to burp, but nothing comes up, then I feel pain. This was worst over the last two days, but seems to be much better today.

  15. Hi all -

Just checking in. So, I'm 3 days post-op now. Still having some pain with gas pressure and a bit around the incisions. The gas pain is weird and my stomach is VERY gurgly. It's like it's own personality right now. Talking all the time! The worst pain is around the middle of my chest and some in the shoulders.

Overall, there was much less pain so far than I thought I would have, but still enough to keep me on pain meds.

Total I start full liquids and am going to try some watery oatmeal this morning. See how it goes. Then a Protein Shake at lunch I think.

Anyway, glad to hear so many folks are banded and doing well!!
