  1. Hey everyone...Well, tomorrow is the big day! Im having a band to sleeve revision & it came up soo fast!!! I feel like im so ready but also not ready at the same time! I think mentally im ready but physically (like packing & cleaning my house...etc) I am SO not ready...lol...well, i just wanted to say good luck to all the new sleevers and to the ones in the near future...pray for me and i will be doing the same! If i dont make too much sense its just because my nerves are on total edge but im also so excited to start my new life! Just got the call to be at the hospital by 8:30am so i'm just ready to get this started :) Good luck again to everyone and i will keep everyone posted and will be looking forward to hearing all of your journeys too :)

  2. Hi...my name is Keri. I'm 38 yrs old and just had my pre op appt today. My surgery date is 12/10/13 & I am going to be a revision from band to sleeve. I'm very excited but also extremely nervous! I love to read about everyone's stories & follow everyone's journey on here...it brings comfort to me for the most part :) Well, I just wanted to start by introducing myself and to let everyone who is going through whatever surgery they may choose, good luck and I will keep u all in my prayers for a speedy recovery & wish u to do the same for me :) P.S. I'm really not too sure how this site works yet so I hope I posted in the correct forum!

  3. Yes...def keep me posted...i would love to know how u are doing throughout ur process and i will do the same :) Im lucky enough to have a very close friend of mine that had the same revision as me in feb. & is doing awesome so she is always giving me some great advice & what to expect & supporting me so if u have any other questions feel free to ask...i thankfully have alot of support & have done ALOT of research myself lol...pretty sure i will also have to be participating in some kind of support group meetings after surgery too! Good luck again...it sounds like we may be getting the procedure done around the same time :) Keep me posted!

  4. Congrats on getting ur approval :D I CANNOT wait to hear those words! I just cant wait to get this band out!!! Thats exactly how i feel about wanting to have my surgery done & not have to worry about being in extreme pain for Christmas at least! Yeah like i said i had my EGD last thurs & was SO nervous & it was an absolute breeze :) I've had one before when i had the band but for some reason i feel like i remembered some of that experience...lol This time i was in the OR for i think they said like 10 min. & i dont remember a thing! So try not to be nervous & just know that its just one step closer to ur new life :)

  5. I too am doing the revision from band to sleeve due to complications with the band and honestly i think it depends on the office and MD ur working with and their schedules also. i have BCBS and i started the whole process on 10/03/13 & I literally had everything i needed on my list done and my last test (EGD) on 11/07/13. I just spoke to the patient navigator today & we made an appt for me for the surgical consult on 11/21 which i will then get my date of surgery & she PROMISED me my surgery would be done by 12/31/13! Im SO excited but also SO nervous...i dont like the fact that they make u go through ALL of the pretesting and everything else and THEN AFTER u get ur date is when they go for the approval...but from what she told me, she thinks i'll get approved very quickly with this insurance! Im keeping my fingers crossed :) Good luck on ur journey and hope the process is also quick for u :D

  6. i had my band removed a few years ago and im been researching the sleeve for the past 1 1/2 years. as you can see im not rushing into anything...lol. its a hard choice to make, as i question myself daily as to what I should do too. im afraid of leaks after surgery and thats what holds me back....fear!!! i want a guarantee this time around because I had issues with my band that I would have never thought would happen to me. so now im extra afraid!!!!

This is EXACTLY how I feel :) I know there are no guarantees with anything and that its going to take alot of work but thats how it is with the band too...Dont get me wrong, i did GREAT with the band in the beginning, lost over 100lbs. but I was also MISERABLE most of the time! It was so painful from the port site to just the eating process! I have been having ALOT of issues with the band so i was just recently told that i am going to need to have the band removed and the dr suggested i have a revision to the sleeve...which i was already considering but i was just SO nervous of the leaking complication part :( i know there is a risk for any kind of surgery but this part really makes me stress!!! Anyway, i have had a few friends that have had the revision and are doing great so i made the decision to go through with the revision :) I have had ALL of my pretesting done and now i'm just waiting for the last consult with the M.D. so he can look over my EGD to make sure there is no band erosion that way he will most likely do it as a one step surgery. The worst part of all of this waiting is that i had to get alot of my Fluid taken out and i'm just packing on the lbs while i wait! Either way, just do what u think is right for YOU and GOOD LUCK throughout ur journey :)

  7. Hello Everyone, I just joined this forum. My Doc has the same policy of waiting in between both surgeries. I think it makes a lot of sense. If you are going into someone's stomach and going to staple all this tissue into a shape of a banana , you would want it to be good tissue and not want it to come apart and have problems down the road. This is what we pay good doctors to do. So I don't mind waiting If the Job is done RIGHT. However, I do worry about the weight gain just like the rest of you. My Doctor, when dealing with the Ins company wrote them a letter and ask for approval for BOTH SURGERIES AT THE SAME TIME. So i got the approval for both surgeries already. He said he wanted me to have my band in while I was getting approval for these surgeries. Now I will have my Band removed on Oct 9th 2013 and Jan 1014 have the sleeve done. I will do my best not to gain, but I know it will be hard over Holiday time....But I want good tissue for him to work with.. and after having a band in for so long, it can only be wise to let good tissue grow... I do want to ask "what is "BCBS" THAT you speak of?? I don't think I have ever heard of that? Wishing you all well Jewel J

"BCBS" Is just the ins. company Blue Cross Blue Shield"

  8. I have Blue Cross Mediblue Select through Medicare

I also have this Mediblue through medicare and i was wondering if this is who you had when they approved your sleeve? I have this now in NY but they are withdrawing as of 12/31/13 and Im hoping to get everything done before this!!! I need a band to sleeve revision due to complications from the band :(

Keeping my fingers crossed...congrats on your whole journey :)

  9. Congrats!!! I myself am just going through all of the preop testing and just praying my ins. goes through with no problems and hoping to get through the process quick and easily! I will be a band revision due to band complications so I am very nervous...I am very happy for you and hope you have a very speedy recovery and things go very smoothly for you and you have as little pain as possible :) I have a cpl of friends that have had this done and they are all doing pretty awesome! Good luck on your journey and your new life!!! Feel better :)

  10. I was playing the biggest loser game for Wii before i was in a car accident and that was REALLY helping! You work up a great sweat and it gives you an awesome workout. Its like the show and you have to complete challenges and so on and it keeps track of your progress of everything you're doing. Unfortunately I am unable to use it right now due to several broken bones, but as soon as I am able to I will definitely start using it again. Its very helpful and I would definitely recommend it!

  11. I too had my surgery on Dec. 9th and I was just explaining to a friend (that had it done in Oct.) the EXACT same things that you are saying! I feel like I can eat ANYTHING!!! Im hungry all the time and the only reason that Im not really OVEReating is because Im FORCING myself not too! It is very hard but like you I am just waiting my 6 wks until I can get my fill. Im hoping that THEN I will have some restriction....and start losing (I am also not gaining but not losing either). I feel like I never even had the surgery sometimes! Well, good luck too you and hopefully we will both get the restriction that we need when we go for our first fill...if not we just have to try again untill we have it right!;)
