  1. I had my surgery 7 years ago and it was very successful. I went from over 300 to 200. At some point I was having terrible heartburn and they had to take all my fluid out. I gained 50 pounds in 50 pounds in 4 months. Once I started getting fills I was able to get back down to 200. Last spring, I once again had to have the fluid removed for almost 6 months and again gained 50-60 pounds. I have my fluid again but this time I am not losing any weight. I am maintaining. I am as full as I can go as I am eating the appropriate amount and am not hungry and even now get periodic heartburn and certainly don't want to go back to no fluid and gain more weight and end up back where I was 7 years ago. How do I jumpstart my metabolism?

    Week 1 Anniversary!

Week 1 post-op is done! 10 pounds down! This means 25 since I started the pre-op diet on 12/30/09! Other than a nasty reaction to the steri strips on my incisions, I don't feel too bad. I still have a little gas pressure but gas x is keeping it controlled. The only time I feel hungry is late at night. The other problem I have is the handful of meds I've traditionally taken at bedtime. This did not sit well. The solution is that I take everything 1 hr after supper and only take my ambien at bedtime. My first fill is scheduled for 2/26.

    I'm a bandster!

Surgery was completed 2 days ago. I arrived at 8:45, went into surgery at 10:30, recovery room until 12:30, then an outpatient room. Was able to go home at 4:00 pm. I am a little sore, but not anywhere near the pain I had with my c-sections. I do have quite a bit of gas build up but fortunately am able to burp. The journey has begun!

    Day 2 Post-op

I was on 1/13 too. Are you taking gas-x? Also, the clinic nurse called today and stated as awful as it sounds, if I could lay on my stomache for a few minutes that a lot of this would be released. I haven't tried it yet.

    Aaargh!

OK, my in-laws live with us. Supposidly they started dieting with me the 1st of the year. In the last week they have come home with cinnamon hearts, makings for ice cream sundaes, cinnamon struesel bread (that they toasted), made homemade bread, made pancakes, among other items. They will be challenge. Mom does the grocery shopping and the cooking. Very difficult to be self-controlled with all this crap in the house. :w00t:

    Down 42lbs and counting..

Congrats! Care to share your "apple pie" recipe?

Please comment is you can help.

I haven't had surgery yet so can't address directly but your post seems a bit unrealistic. 43 pounds in one month is a lot and obviously we can't continue to loose at that rate.

    The foray back to food.

Good for you! Your enough ahead of me (surgery is next Wed) that I'll really watch your experiences!

    Why a hippo?

OK. I've gotten a couple of comments about needing a new image versus a hippo. It is not something derogatory. I collect them! It started in grade school. Thus, it's a perfect image for me!

    A new me

This is not one of my concerns at all. He loved me thin, he's loved me over the last 22 years as I/we gained weight and he will still love me when I am thinner again...we will just have more energy to enjoy each other! He is only about 50 pounds over weight but is planning to eat better with me.

    Not getting my first fill

Hmmm, have you shared with your lawyer? Seems that if he was court ordered, you may be able to recover some cost here.

    Pre Op Diet.............

I am on the 2-week pre-op in order to shrink the liver. My dr. doesn't require a certain amount lost before surgery but states it is more dangerous if the liver is too heavy. Some at the support group share that they lost less than 10 and he implied they did not follow their pre-op diet. Me, I don't need additional risk factors as I go into anesthetic so I am painfully sticking to it!
