Tired of People Saying: "You Really Don't Look Lika You Need That!!"
jollygreen1955 replied to ncarreras's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Retro- I have heard those comments so long. God bless you for doing it at your age. In the old days there was Weight Watchers and all the other crap. Well, I never lost...even took off from work and stayed every day at the gym. They have never found out why I could not lose the weight and I was even studying in Columbia (NY) so go for it. At my age I am so grateful for every pound that is off me. The truth is that the excess weight has probably shortened my life. Go for it :tongue2: By the way Ilove my self fluffy but want to be healthy I was the skinny tall kid that was sent to the doctor to gain but they never gave me anything after 21 just kept gaining Laura from ny -

Buying clothes is a full time job!!
jollygreen1955 replied to August's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was lucky..I work from home for my husband so I can get away with less. Wish I had a real job and find it impossible to find anything. I filled out an application to work at Avenue just to get a large wardrobe but they do not pay...still never called  As for going into my profession they do not want to hire because it is a problem with my husbands business (he is a CPA) and we have conflicts.. the people who I interview with tell me I will steal their accounts). Did work for someone locally, lasted one day ,,,he freaked out when I quitely found serious errors in his work  ..and i was quiet about it... he accused me of calling my husband because he could NOT believe anyone would have found those errors :w00t:( Gotta, get back on track.... I give my clothes to Goodwill but honestly enjoy posting on Freecycle (a yahoo group) and the girls are thrilled to get the clothes. A friend of mine suggested Walmart ONLINE and I got great tops... I paid around five dollars apiece and it were ..Just my Size... for 12 dollars shipping charges I received a nice amount of clothes. Ask your surgeon or secretary if they can give your number to a woman who has been banded and ask her if you can have her clothes. No joke...I left a bag in my car.. after the monthly group asked one of the girls descritely to wait for me at her car and just handed her a bag she was grateful :frown: We should have a page where we could send or trade our clothes with others :w00t: -

I am an outgoing person so people feel I will not be hurt by comments :0) tell everyone hernia ..you will thank me in 2 yrs -

jollygreen1955 replied to sweetkissez42061's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my...great post  Here goes...at my age period has stopped but still get constipated and it hurts!! You can take everyday 1 colace pill (they have a generic brand) and/or a Vitamin e pill (greasy works) everyday add fibercon powder to food (green bottle buy at costco and just add the powder to everything I think it has to do with the fact ;;; we drink the Water , exercise but do not have the fat if you did weight watchers before the band you were required some healthy fat in your diet if it becomes serious...some miralex but that sshould only be when nothing else works when i have backup..i find it painful but after 2 years ..learning -

jollygreen1955 replied to staplegater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine shows after 2 yrs out. I stupidly told family I had the banding but I think if I could have done it again..I would have said ...hernia repaired  I do not have a hernia...who would have known and they have a restricted diet :0) But at my age 54...do not give a s@@@! but i would not have told anyone, hate people asking about the band :w00t::w00t: -

Josie- You should have a great time in NY. WHEN I go out for dinner or whatever all you have to whisper to the waiter or waitress that you are lapbanded and they will actually tell YOU what is appropriate because they have served so many lapbanders. I would suggest you bring a before picture, you might get a free meal (no joke) because every restaurant OWNER has a family member that needs to be banded and you never know When I go down south all they do is sit in awe about my accent... have a great time... no matter where you are in this state there are loads of walking trails Just a suggestion..go to the local support group...it is very interesting to hear what people are talking..I always call the local biatric surgeon or hospital ME- I do not get weighing in at my lapband dr till the 18th. I do weigh myself at home but it is pretty hard to tell...I am so scared my DH actually feels sorry for me. Being banded and then going back ... this will be my first weigh in since I got my first fill last month. OMG I had never had a fill and did he fill it..but thank god I did watch my intake of food........ugh...but now...i am really eating on the low end....praying for a good weigh in The nutritionist called me today and she told me that i was on the original diet and now I have had the band for so long that the no no foods are now accepted........so I will start drinking home made green tea (in place of water) but it must be caffeine free... see if that tastes good She claims that it does not repeat not help flush out fat but I think that there is something magical about that green tea so I am really excited..not for the weight loss but everyone over here swears it is a an anti cancer tea and with my scare...guess what I will be drinking. Just for everyones knowledge..she does not want us to eat anything with chemicals..ie splenda etc..........well, I am not that perfect.. my thouht chemicals..if there ok..just do not add..but if I was outside or wanted a chemical item..heck have it... I have to be successful with my band....if I did not live by my band life when stopped going to the doctor (personal problems)..honest to god ,.i would be 400 lbs now... no joke;) :frown: :seeya:     -

Over 50% failure rate?????
jollygreen1955 replied to Big Ed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have still a lot of weight to go but I am still on 7 Protein groups and add anything else. So, I am curious what others do to gain such success :frown: I still eat small portions because even though this lapband is a tool..I still want to be a loser to be a winner  -
just saw your pictures. I am to old to use Youtube

I am really happy for you...my friends DAUGHTER wants the lapband surgery and her mom is against it and your posting will definitely help other ones your age to have it done.

Over 50% failure rate?????
jollygreen1955 replied to Big Ed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WHAT? Read my blog...with all my stuff I never regained!!!! I am thrilled you doctor told you that because in NY where I live and many many lapbanders and drs we do not have a 50 percent failure rate. Go find a doctor and staff that can support you emotionally? I have a surgeon that does NY and NJ and if you email me I will get yiu connected if you are from the area. All major hospitals and psyc centers have Support Groups for Lapbanders and go ... Also, I have a male friend (I am a married female) and he went for the LB surgery and has lost over 2 yrs 110 lbs and has plenty to go. AND AND HE IS HAPPY.... and eats but not as before so find a doctor whose team will support your needs not their wallet -

Our nutritionist tells everyone to take Vitamin E pills. I did not take it till I REALLY HAD A PROBLEM..so now I take one every other day if not everyday. :blushing: It is the oil in the vitamin E. If you go to TRaders Joe and buy there aphadafelix (spelling) pills..that works on an empty stomach. -

I am the one on the exercise page that suggested the drinking of water because that is what my doctor keeps telling me  But(t) :sneaky: I really do not well when I eat meat. Only suggesting ...maybe eggbeaters (they come in yummy flavors) and see what happens or a piece of fish. I LOVE the eggbeaters and my DH goes nuts but I have a shot glass that is marked one ounce and measure my portion with it. :tt1::tt1: Seriously, just if you can go off the meat for a day or two and see what happens....my regular doctor states (he lost a ton of weight) that excessive salt is a no no. I cut down and I can feel the difference :sneaky: :sneaky: :sneaky:  :sneaky: :wink2: -
If you are stuck,...are you drinking your Water through out the day? That is what kills me ...forget to drink :sneaky:
