  1. Hi Everyone I have been on a 6month supervised diet required by my insurance co. and HAVE to lose 5% of my wt. Im now into the 7th month and yesterday according to my scale I hit the goal! I was so excited! so I went into the dr to get an offical wt and there scale weighs me 3 lbs heavier!!! UGH! Everything is ready to go for my surgery, all the tests are done etc...now I have to lose 3 more stickin pounds! Right now I do protein shake (50gms protein) for breakfast, salad at lunch and small dinner. Very low carb. Plus Im walking/jogging 2 miles daily. Im tired of waiting!! Ive actually lost more then 5% cuz over christmas I gained 11 lbs so Ive lost all that plus 13 more. Now I have 3 to go..... Just venting I guess!!!!!!! Thanks for listening
  2. Like the previous person said, you probably need to atleast pop off one nail. They need to be able to see blood circulation in you fingers. Also, for the pulse oximetery they put on your finger works better with no nail polish or fake nails.
  3. Im having a hysteretomy done on Feb 9th and hoping to get banded by April. After the Hyster. I will have 6wk recovery cuz they have to open me up to do (like a c-section), do you think this is too soon after to get my band? I am currently waiting out my 6 months per insurance which will be about mid-March. I will call tomorrow to find out for sure, just wondering if anyone knew? TIA Lauri
  4. I have to agree with Swangirl. I would love to be 184! I have to lose weight for my insurance to even cover me and I continue to gain. I have to be on a 6mon diet 1st, I have 3 months left and not lost ANY wt, so you trying to gain is crazy and sounds like a unnessecary surgery that tax payers will end up paying for.

My mind wants my body to stay fat

  6. Hi Everyone, I am 2 1/2 months into my 6 month required diet for insurance and I have to lose 5% of my body weight to qualify for surgery...this is about 16 lbs. So far I havent lost any. I dont know what to do for a diet. If I could diet and lose weight I wouldnt be in this situation. My preop diet will consist of a regular diet just NO carbs at all. Should I do this? 1 week ago Ive started exercising 30min a day (Biggest Loser Wii game) and so far Ive lost 0. Any suggestions? TIA

I dont know anything about these places, thankfully cause they sound horrible but as a nurse myself, with ANY kind of sugery or even for a primary dr, make sure they are BOARD CERTIFIED! Always. That means they actually took their boards and passed!! For lap band I am going to a Bariatric Center for Excellence and wouldnt do any less. They have strict rules or protocols to go by. Thats just my 2 cents :-) Good luck to everyone

Tufts Ins. - I Can Change

Hi I am enrolled in the I Can Change program also, but my insurance is Health Alliance. Mine in a phone call every 2 weeks for the 1st 2 months then it becomes monthly. Like the previous person said they talk about life style changes and goal setting. My insurance sent the form to my dr and they faxed it back and then they called me to get it set up. Tomorrow will be my last bi-monthly call and I will go monthly here on out. My coach is really nice. I should be completed by mid-March, hope to get banded end of March or 1st of April. During this 6 months Im able to get all other pre-reqs done required by surgeon. I aslo have to lose 5% of body wt required by insurance. Having a tough one with this one though. :-( Good Luck
  10. I have to do a 6 month also and Im on my 2nd month into it. I was discouraged at 1st too cuz I had tons of proof of diets tried/failed but it doesnt matter. my insurance (health alliance) wants there 6 month "I Can Change" program to be done, and now that Ive started I really dont mind. For one, the bariatric center Im having it done at has alot of testing they want done so that will take time, plus their classes etc..it also gets myself mentally ready for this life changing event, and this is probably a main reason why insurances companies have you wait. They dont want to pay out all this money and you not be able to make the changes necessary to succeed. Hope that helps, Good luck Lauri
  11. Well, with my insurance I have to do a 6month supervised diet and I have 5months to go. It seems it will take FOREVER> I want it  NOW I also need to lose 15lbs by then too..so far Ive lost 0! No big surprise there. I just dont know what to do to lose. With my "life coach" that I talk to every 2 wks via phone calls I have cut down my diet coke to only 2 a day and increase my Water to ateleast 32oz..usually 64 though. So I guess that is a start. Hope time speeds up

    What I dream about..

Id like to be in the pictures we take and not always the picture taker...I avoid the camera like the plaque. I want to ride on carinval rides instead of lying to my kids saying Ill get sick...to be able to fit into my seat in the car, its curved on the edges...to have sales people notice me..Ive gone into store and been ignored while people coming in after me get helped. That pisses me off, to buy clothes in more colors the just black
  13. well I had my 1st consult on friday and it went well. My surgeon will be Dr.Phelps @ Genesis Bariatric Center in Davenport Iowa. Im a very healthy obese person..lol but Ido need a sleep study. According to my answers I scored a 12!! Most people that fall between 8-10 need sleep study and Im a 12...haha Its just that IDONT sleep much at all, more like insomnia I think? Other then that it went well, in 2 wks in the group dietician..then will have a one on one. Seems surreal that Ive started the whole process, but am very excited!
  14. As of 9/13/09 my 6 mo diet for insurance approval has offically begun. I talked to my "life coach" for 45 minutes and will have to do this every 2 wks to begin with. I have 14lbs to lose to qualify for surgery. That doesnt seem like much but during this 6 months I will have halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Valentines days..and also 3 bdays, and 1 anniversary. I dont even know what kind of diet I should attempt? The life coach just has me starting with increasing water and decreasing caffeine. Wish me luck. I WILL do it. Guess its time for me to get a ticker :mad2: Lauri
  15. Hi...I am wondering what kind of diet everyone did for the pre-op? I havent met with the surgeon yet, but insurance requires 5% loss for coverage...I have a terrible time losing and afraid I wont get it off in 6 months...I need to lose 16lbs...maybe more once I speak with the surgeon TIA! Lauri
