Melloways...soooo sorry. My husbands band was postponed because of bad blood work too. Turned out it was one of the medications he was on and once he stopped he was OK. What test was abnormal? My husbands was sodium and that can really mess with your heart. Now 3 weeks later hes banded and his sodium level is normal. They just had to switch his meds.....maybe thats what will happen to you?

Hey! Let me know how your follow up goes! What time is your appointment? They want me to stop by and weigh tomorrow (AGAIN) not sure why and I am trying to get out of it as Mary weighed me last week but Catherine said in an email I need to stop in.

My surgery is the day before thanksgiving and its normally my holliday meal to cook for my family. They are so supportive and we have just decided to skip it this year....isnt that great! I was planning on cooking as much of it as possible the day before but now I am in the clear!

Melloways High blood protein can be a warning sign of chronic inflammation or infection. High blood protein levels have also been linked to certain bone marrow diseases, they dont have anything to do with how much protein you are eating or drinking unfortunately. You should ask the doctor to run a "total protein test" the next time they draw your blood to be safe. I do think this is one of thoes things that can be a false positive (I think) so good that you are doing it again to play it safe. I got my date today! 11/25 the day before Thanksgiving! Wow, after being postponed twice now I am a little on edge, excited, nervous, scared....no Turkey dinner for me that Thursday!

Thanks for the post. I am not going to tell anyone else! I totally agree with you....and we have the same band date. The day before Thanksgiving is my date too! No turkey and stuffing for me this year!

Hi Everyone, I'd love some support. I am trying to loose weight while I am waiting on my surgery and thought maybe someone would like to join me. My surgery has been postponed twice now so I feel like I have been waiting forever. I bumped myself the first time I had a surgery date because I decided I should not be banded the same day as my husband. My husband was postponed due to some blood chemistry issues and then he wound up taking my second surgery date because we both felt it was more important for him to go first. He has more to loose and has other issues. He has been banded for a week and a half now and is finally doing better....he had a tough recovery. Now I am deciding on my date, want to make sure he's OK before I go! So.....I started 10ish years ago at 310 pounds, my highest weight ever. Now I am 219. I'd like to be about 150 or 160 so have decided the lap band will get me to goal and most importantly keep me there. Anyone want to commiserate with me on pre op pre diet stuff?? I am a pro at my doctors pre op liquid diet, having done it twice now and helping my husband go through it twice. What I'd like to do is be able to eat very small healthy portions now before I go back on the liquid diet before surgery.

Hello! I was hoping to do it at Kaiser but they want you to jump through SOOOO many hoops. Meetings for me meetings that my husband would have had to go to. 6 months at weight watchers....and I would have had to gain weight to qualify to even start! I hope it all works out for you....I will be interested to see how you like it as it rubbed me the wrong way from the start. I will be banded at UCSD

I think it's better to go to work at 100% an x ray teck job sounds very demanding on your body! Thanks everyone for your replys!

Hi banded buddies :thumbdown: I am curious....how many of you are back to work now? Can you tell me your surgery date and date back to work, also what do you do? I am asking because my hubbie is still moving slow, he got his band 8 days ago and I am worried he will not be ready to go back on day 12 (this comming Monday) because he is going so slow. PS....I think I am getting closer to getting another surgery date, maybe 3rd time will be a charm?? Just waiting on the doc to get back to me. I have a request in to do a 1 week liquid diet instead of 3 week. Since I have been on the liquid diet twice now...maybe I will get lucky.

Question for all of you who are banded and a diabetic. Can you please tell me how your diabetes has changed?

xmagirl..... My October surgery was postponed too :thumbup: My husband took my surgery date and WOW with all of the problems and super PAIN he's having its making me re think doing it myslef! He's in soooo much pain still 5 days post op now and still can just wander around the house before he gets back to bed, I swear hes been asleep for 5 days now.

OK fellow bandsters I need some stories please. My husband was banded Wednesday AM 10/21 at 10am. It's now Friday night 10/23 at 8.30pm and he has so much pain he is in tears....inside his belly around his port area. The pain meds knock the pain and he falls asleep but when Oh GOD when will the pain subside??????

Hi HappyHome! Isnt the barium lovely! I thought I was going to throw it up when I was doing it! Yuck! Then after it was all over I went to the gift shop and got a diet coke...bad mistake to put bubbles in bubbles, I did wind up throwing it up in the parking lot :blushing: The nose thing is nasty but it will be over before you know it...whats your surgery date again? We have not had to call for meds because we left the hospital with some super strong stuff. Every time he takes it it knocks him out...he has been getting a LOT of sleep. I just didn't know it would hurt that bad! Now I am second guessing my choice to band???? Getting confused and sometimes I think...what the hell I have gotten this far all by my self (even if it has taken 6 years) then I think I don't have another 6 years to get rid of the rest! My goal is 160 and that's only 56.4 more pounds to go. My problem is that even since I have had steady weight loss since my 300pound days I loose then gain then loose then gain then loose then gain...you get the picture. I just don't want to gain it back AGAIN. Anyway I am rambling! Let me know how you are feeling? Getting excited??

Jim...how much are you walking around? We walked around the halls the day after surgery at the hospital and today he had an office visit and a blood draw so was walking back and forth from the car. His pain is unbearable, tears running down his cheek just to try to switch postions in bed??

PS.....I have lost alllllllmost 100 pounds all by myself :closedeyes:

Hello everyone. Well I was postponed again, I gave my husband my surgery date and he is now banded. I am nervous for him he's still in pain today after surgery on Wednesday, I have NO idea when it will be my turn now, after being postponed twice now I am getting kinda bummed out BUT my hubbie is done and that was soooo important! He has a lot longer way to go than I do, thats why I keep putting him first :closedeyes:

JoJo...good for you! I am going to be banded in 4 days and am so ready to be under 200 pounds for the first time in over 20 years!

All I can say is that if you do have that drink...watch out cuz you will get tipsy quick!

yes it is liquid diet hell for sure ... it WILL be worth it!

Im on the 21st too! So nervous!
