  1. Ive thought about that too, I can usually tell in their faces, the nasal-labia fold as my skin care lady calls it and around the neck and chin looks pretty loose. It may tighten up later but the ones I know who have had it have that and its been a few years since their surgeries and when I see people out and about I sometimes notice that. Im worried about the just being able to pic at my food kinda thing :( there goes eating out which we do a few times a week. That I will surly miss :(

  2. Since I started getting info on the sleeve earlier this month I have been having these lucid dreams about how I am going to feel and look once I get down to my goal weight. I actually remember thinking I was fat back then (little did I know!). Even my husband is getting excited. The pace of things is going great also.

I started this journey without having a PCP--i moved to MD 3 yrs ago and I visited another Dr I did not like. I've been going to the GYN and not a regular Dr. So I picked one out my provider manual and the Dr. I went to did her residency in BARIATRICS!. She was so supportive!

I got called today for my Surgeon appointment.-scheduled Dec 27th. Getting off early on this day is going to be tricky but I am going to work it out somehow. (Monday following Xmas)

I changed insurance in time to get in a plan with no deductable. Which is better than the 15% surgeon fee and operating room fees.

That sounds AWESOME~ I just had my first surgeon appt about a week and a half ago, and I too was shocked to find out there was no out of pocket cost at all! AMAZING! It seems to be moving ahead quickie for which im excited and a lil nervous. I have my NUT appt. this week and my PHYSC next week and on the 15th I have my second surgeon apt. I think that he said if my other two appts were complete when he saw me next we could pick a surgery date and schedule labs! OMG …. I am excited about my new body too and am amazed at how quickly this is transpiring~

  3. I think I am a bit of a shopaholic at heart as well, but I usually stick to the safe clothes that arent too flashy. I love love to window shop but I would feel out of place wearing a lot of the fashions that I see as meant for thin people. I think that once the weight starts coming off there will be so many more options and then I might have a little bit of a problem :P But then again, I feel like I deserve to splurge (just a little) if it makes me feel good about my new body.

I gauge my shopping by being honest with how much Im really going to use the product and if I can afford it. A lot of the time for me it is an emotional thing, so I let myself pick out everything that catches my eye, but as I continue shopping I go through things again and again and weed out the ones that don't look so nice the next time around. And I always go into a store with a rough idea of how much I am going to spend, and stick by it. I usually only end up with one or two things that I know I love.

lol we are two of a kind! I try really hard to get stuff Ill use, I have to admit I given in to a few too high to walk in heels but other than that I behave… mostly! haha I do the same thing full the cart… then empty it HAHA I try to buy in outfits usually but for now and just spending money on accessories seeing as my size will be changing. I got my hubby to agree that I should be able to go spend a fancy girls weekend shopping for a new wardrobe after Ive lost the weight and got my tummy done :) woowoo

  4. Hi all,

Im about a month pre op and am working on curbing my bad eating habits, etc. I got to thinking about something I was told in my Options class about people developing cross addictions after surgery. I was wondering what I would have to do to get the same feeling of comfort and security that I now get from food. I am also in the habit of rewarding myself with food, so I know that might be a problem, even though I know thats really common. I honestly couldnt think of an answer besides shopping or...shopping. I keep reading posts from people who have had VSG that they just dont crave food anymore, but that is kind of hard for me to wrap my brain around. So if you don't really want to eat, what do you do? Right now, if Im bored or have free time, my husband and I go out to eat. Then maybe we'll see a movie or walk somewhere. So my questions are: has anyone suffered from cross addiction to an unhealthy degree? Also, if that desire to eat is still there what do you do to curb it? I can see myself becoming manic trying to fill every second of my day so I don't have to think about food food food! Cause thats the way I feel now :P

    Thanks :)

I worry about the same thing! I would say I am a tad bit of a shopaholic already. Whenever Im bored I go out to eat... always. And I go shopping like 4 times a week minimum! Its really mostly boredom and I think being overweight I try to compensate by looking cute to avoid the whole fat/lazy stereotype. I have stopped buying clothes as it seems pointless if im going to have surgery in 2 months. I never spend money I dont have or put shit on credit but I buy a ton of shit... that in retrospect I could live without... I kinda thought a lot of women bought stuff like crazy but my hubby thinks Im a little nutty.I dont know what to gauge it by... most of my friends just dont like shopping so they dont spend any money on shoes, purses, hair stuff, skin products, make up... How do you know when its too much? And do most people enjoy buying clothes even more after they lose weight?

  5. Ahhh thanks guys for the tips and for understanding how it is emotional to see my hair in clumps after simply running a wide tooth comb through it! I am going to pump up my vits for the sake of it and just roll with it. I lost quite a bit after both of my labors and it came back so I guess crying over spilled milk wont help. I run a straightening Iron through it daily so maybe I will try to do that less often.

It was something I dreaded and hoped I could dodge but apparently it is out of my hands (actually it is all out of my head lol). If it gets noticeable maybe I will try a few of those extensions like Sleeve4me suggested, that picture was very cute by-the-way!

I ended up with enough this morning after washing my hair to make a little rat to poof up the top of my hair LOL or I can pray for the head shrinkage.

I just saw your post, pick up some PUREOLOGY ROOTPUMP it runs about $27 but is amaxing I use it for root volume. After you towl dry your hair comb it and then spray it all around your scalp and flip your head over and blow dry it. It will add a lot!!! I have thinner hair and when I use it people always comment on how thick my hair is. I can flat Iron or curl it after but I dont touch the roots with it too much so I get lots of lift. You can only find it at larger spas or ebay. It may take you a few trys to figure it out but you will LOVE it!!!

  6. I have told everyone! lol I wanted feed back early on (Im still early on) and wanted to see what people thought. I was scared and unsure after meeting with my surgeon I decided I wanted to go through with this so now I try to just talk to those who are supportive everyone is nice about it but I can tell there are a few who think im going "too far" but those are also people who have never had to battle with their weight. Im not worried about what anyone with Im hoping its smooth sailing so my sister will do it too!

  7. So my lil sis it turning 21 and we have a trip to Vegas planned on March 17th. My doctor would like to schedule me for surgery in February... Is it practical to think that I could go on such a trip after 5 - 7 weeks after surgery? I am not too worried about the eating out as I wont be able to do that and will just avoid sitting at a restaurant with them but as far as feeling well enough to walk all over and be out all night.. I just dont want to book everything and lose my money any input would be amazing.

    Thanks!

    Jen
