    I am in the hosptial

Daisy- I'm so sorry you're going through this, but so happy you're getting it treated! Before I had my gallbladder removed, I was in constant pain. You will feel like a brand new woman immediately! Next to getting sleeved, it was the best thing I did for myself. Good luck, and you are in my prayers!

    Stressed out... !

Norma- You are absolutely right about that. In fact, today, I'm putting mine in the trash. It's a junky one that's probably as old as I am. I definitely become obsessed with the scale, which is why I'm so stressed. I think I will still weigh once a week, because that's my personal trainers schedule. And, like I said, I'm obsessed. :thumbup1:)
  3. So, I'm just under 2 weeks post-op, I'm down 21 lbs and 10 inches as of today. I'm getting a little stressed because my weight hasn't moved since last week. I have lost 3 more inches this week, though. Is this common? Am I doing something wrong? I haven't been getting exactly the right amount of Protein (but close), probably am not as hydrated as I need to be, but working on it, and I'm exercising. I'm starting to get paranoid that the sleeve is not going to work for me :scared0:. A little encouragement/advice would be great. :biggrin0: -Ruby

Thanks guys. I feel much better about it! I think I was just having one of those days yesterday, and need a little lift. Thanks for it

    can't get a grip

Hey Steph- I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling. I'm only a week out, but I understand the anger. I'm not hungry, but I want to eat so badly- the way I used to, it's kind of scary. I never thought food controlled me as much as it obviously does. I'm glad that you're being proactive about it and seeking help- that's courageous, and I hope that you feel proud of yourself for it. I mentioned it on another thread, but having an accountability buddy has really helped me. Having someone that can break that thought cycle has prevented me from slipping. If you need someone, I'd be more than happy to help you with that! Just let me know. And thank you for sharing that, because I have definitely been feeling the same way. -Ruby

    Exercise help here, please!

Ready- I had surgery a week ago. He recommended that I don't lift over 20 lbs (but I have a 20 month old, 24 lb daughter, so obviously that's not possible). But he said they sew up the staple line pretty securely and that "I wouldn't do damage". It would be more that I would cause myself discomfort more than anything else. I'm avoiding ab work (because that's definitely not comfortable yet), but light arm work outs have been fine for me. I'm finding that my surgeon is a little non traditional. He's an army surgeon, and of course worked in Iraq, so he may have a different perspective. I think it is just all about how comfortable you feel! He also didn't think I'd feel up to anything for 2 weeks. So, who knows. haha -Ruby p.s. and truth be told, the more I do, the better I've felt.

    Exercise help here, please!

ReadytoMaintain- My doc said whenever I felt like it. I've been back at the gym since last week, because I haven't had any real pain. I've done some arm weights, but have mostly stuck to cardio. I'm meeting my personal trainer on Weds to start back up with her. I think it really depends on how you feel (and what your doc advises). If you're still very sore, it might not be a bad idea to hold off.

    November Sleevers

    Brilliant!!
  13. I'm confused. :confused1: ( I always am!) I'm on day 3 post op, and I can't tell what's hunger?? Is that normal?? My tummy grumbles and just feels really swollen. Will the signals become more clear? I figure I must be hungry. I haven't eaten since Sunday night, and all i've eaten was 156 cals yesterday. Is this common? I get a burning sensation in my stomach sometimes (like the way it felt when I was hungry) except I have no mental desire to eat. Bah.

    Confused...

Cajun- you're so right about over doing it, even on liquids. It happened last night, and the heart burn was so intense I thought I was having a heart attack!! (not really, that's an exaggeration). Ugh. It taught me to drink slooooooowly. I can't wait to move on. But am being very patient! Netherfield- Thank you for posting that. It's very reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one who can't seem to get the signal right away. 101 lbs in 10 months- that is amazing and I'm so happy for you. You must be in heaven! I can't wait to be there with you some day. What have your struggles been? Are you still getting full quickly? Details details! -Ruby

    November Sleevers

Thank you!! I don't know what's going on! I'm in a little bit of disbelief and have weighed myself on like 6 different scales to confirm. At first I thought "oh, it's just Water weight", but it just keeps going down. I mean... pounds a DAY! It has me very motivated to exercise and really watch what I'm eating. When is your date again? How are you feeling?? Are you a "new mom"? I am too, kind of. I have a 20 month old daughter. She's crazy. I love her.

    San Antonio, Tx surgeons

Tiff- I have a good friend that just moved from there, and San Antonio has some of the best surgeons in the country. I'll ask her to drop by the forum and PM you. She was going to get her surgery (sleeve) there, but they ended up moving to El Paso, before she could. If you guys swing through El Paso on your way to San Antonio and need a place to stay, give me a holler!! San Antonio is supposed to be amazing.

    November Sleevers

P.S- I've been using realizemysuccess.com, and love it! You have limited access for free, unless your doc uses one of their products and goes on line to confirm that, then you get full access for free. It's really helped me stay organized, plan my meals, and track EVERYTHING! and it makes it easy. that's my biggest issue with food journals- it's a pain. It also helps me track my fluids and vits. Sorry for the plug, but I love it!

    November Sleevers

Hey everyone- I sort of fell off this thread but I'm back! My surgery went smooooooooooooth. I had it done at an army hospital on Monday, and was sent home Tuesday night because I was recovering so quickly. Thank God, because I hate hospitals. I was definitely nervous going in, but I was in the OR and knocked out in two shakes of a lambs tail. I spent the entire first day/night in the ICU. I couldn't have anything to drink until the following afternoon. I got up and walked as soon as my vitals stabalized a little. There was definitely some discomfort. But nothing unmanagable, and they were great with controlling my nausea- I had NONE! It was such an awesome experience. Since Monday, I've lost 7 inches, and 18 lbs. I have no hunger, and have to remind myself to eat. They sent me home on full liquids, and I've done OKAY on those. I think milk is giving me some serious problems. So, I've regressed back to clears. My wounds are mostly healed, and I'm back in the gym. I walked my dog for an hour weds (that was over doing it a little), went to the gym on thurs and walked for 30 mins (again, a little too much), and went again today for 30 mins, and felt AMAZING!!! I haven't taken any pain medication since Weds. I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'm so excited for you guys! You're gonna be so amazed at how fast everything changes. -Ruby

    Yet another Newbie

Hi KZOL and welcome! I just had my surgery done this week (monday) and have to tell you that all of what you described is exactly how I felt right up until they knocked me out with anesthesia. I was so worried that I would be the one it wouldn't work for (and I still am), but I am so motivated to see what progress I have made. I've lost 18 lbs since Monday. It's been a lot of work. It is requiring a total change in attitude toward food, but it's working! Instead of my tummy always yelling at me when I'm hungry, it's silent and cooperative. How awesome?! This surgery will never solve your obesity problem on it's own. But it's certainly a wonderful gift/tool to have on your side. Also, I think most, if not all here have struggled with the yo-yo part of weight loss. For my insurance it's one of the requirements (have you tried for so many years to lose weight...etc?). Good luck to you and feel free to PM me if you need anything (although I'm a newbie too  )

    Confused...

It IS the sugar free kind.. but do you think it's maybe intolerance to the lactose. It's just so strange to have no idea what my body is saying to me. I'm taking pepcid, but I read on the forum that you actually have to take it 30 mins PRIOR to eating. And I have definitely not been doing that. I did it today, and I had no problems with that burning feeling. I just desperately want this to work, and don't want to screw it up. It's kind of overwhelming! (plus I'm paranoid because they didn't check for leaks post op- you know the military, and wouldn't tell me how big my stomach was)
  24. Well, I just reread what I wrote and realized how strange that sounded. The meds issue is my pain medicine- lortab and then tylenol 3. And it's more like it goes down and just kind of comes right back up- and of course only liquids. No solids yet! That's the only time I've had that problem. As for the running to the bathroom, it's more like diarrhea (embarrassing!)- 4-5x a day! Does that seem abnormal?

    Confused...

Same for me! I do have some head hunger- I passed by Taco Bell today and thought, man that would be good! BUT I RESISTED! Score one victory for me! And it wasn't like I felt deprived for resisting. I just felt like, "eh, I don't need that." I'm still having a hard time with the signals of my body. I can drink 8 oz of carnation instant Breakfast in about 30-40 mins. And am wondering if this is abnormal? I think it's pretty cool we're going through this close to the same time! -Ruby
