  3. I agree the Surgicenter plays a big role for Dr. Spivak. I have been happy with their care and have had no complications, so I do not request to see the Dr.

Hey guys! I wanted to post this for all of you who get depressed when you plateau! I have not lost a single pound in 2 and a half weeks. I took some quick measurements today running out of the door to work and I am down: 1" in my hips 1.5"s in my waist .5" in my chest I didn't have time to do my arms and legs. I will take inches in place of pounds any day!!!! Keep your chin up if you are plateauing, your body is still working for you in different ways!! P.S. that puts me down 2" in my hips from 01/07/07 (barely over a month).

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hi Lower BMI'ers. I have posted once or twice. I read this thread everyday, but I don't post as much. By the time I formulate a response for something you guys have switched subjects. LOL. Mom2Sassy, It is more important for higher BMI patients to lose weight before surgery. It is nice to read that everyone is doing so well. A friend invited me to rockstar supernova this weekend. She bought 2nd row center stage tickets. I have never really heard of them, but I am looking forward to taking my size 14 bum to a concert! w00t

It's never too late to start taking measurements! It sure helps me to see those inches go down when the scale isn't moving!

    Surgery Question ?

Wow! Now I want to go to Egypt! Have fun Yasmina.
  11. I am sorry to hear that your previous surgery might interfere with the lap band. :think I think the best thing to do for now is not to think the worst. Would an ultra sound or x-ray show the position of the mesh in your abdomen? Was it designed to dissolve over time? Laproscopic surgery doesn't need a LOT of space so hopefully everything will work out. Believe it will, until it does! Good luck!

Wow! you have lost 74 pounds so far! That is awesome. Did you take your measurements before surgery? Every time I hit a plateau I take my measurements and even when I am not losing weight, I am still usually losing inches. Sometimes your body takes time to "compact" before continuing with the weight loss.

You can do it!!!! You have had such great weight loss so far!!
  14. LBTexan, I am glad to hear that you are feeling well. I have experienced the anxiety that you are feeling after your surgery. I have had quite a few surgeries in my lifetime, each one I had different reaction to the anesthesia. One time I had the shakes, one time I was very anxious... It will wear off eventually and may be worn off by the time you read this.

Robin, If you have people gushing over how great you look, then you must be doing something right!!!! Go with the measurements. I know it is better to see the scale going down, however muscle will eventually help you burn more fat. I have had the same response with my weight loss lately. No one has really said a thing until these last two weeks. Mid December I was wearing 18Womens, by January I was wearing 16Womens the past Friday I had to go buy some 16Misses, because I didn't have any pants to wear. It really wasn't that big of a weight change imo, but it was nice to go through sizes so fast. Kutia, I already had to buy new bras. I even think I am going to have to trade in my DD for D's because my bra fits fine around but I no longer fill the cups all the way, much less "overfill" like I used to. I was never a DD before I gained weight anyway, so I didn't expect it to stay. Anyone need any Victoria Secret 38 DD that I have only had for a couple of months?

    New to group

Welcome foltzie! My dr. just had me on a low carb diet up until I had to prep for surgery. I lost 13 lbs. before surgery. Good luck!
  21. You will see the doctor for about 20 seconds while he asks you if you have any questions. Next thing you know you will be in aftercare wondering when they are going to start it goes so fast. LOL. I think everyone gets nervous before hand so that is definitely normal.

    Surgery Question ?

Well, you could call a cab I suppose, but you definitely will not be able to drive that day. You will be pretty loopy far into the night with the anesthesia they use.

    Banded on October 12, 06

Your fills have not been very big. you don't even have 1cc in there. So you are practically wide open. You need another fill. If you had the proper restriction you wouldn't be able to eat all of those things. Without restriction we are just like we were before surgery, nothing gets held up in the stoma so you can just keep eating. With the proper restriction you will feel full for longer with less. I am perfect at 3ccs in a 4cc band. It is my sweet spot. I was .2cc over and I was too tight. A lot of us wouldn't be able to control ourselves without restriction. So hang in there and schedule a fill. Good luck!
