  1. I'm not feeling much of an appetite either. Although, I am concern about getting my Vitamins and Protein in. So pretty much I force myself to finish my Protein drinks and vitamins. I was still doing all Clear liquids. However, today I had a phone consultation with my doctors nurse and she said I was suppose to be on an "All liquid" diet. Okay, so I tried to eat some low carb yogurt. Two teaspoons and I felt so full, like I had pigged out at a buffet. Maybe I'll stick to broth for a bit..
  2. Good Luck Dean just hang in there.. The reason I think I don't have much of an appetite is because I'm totally preoccupied with all the new feeling my stomach is having. That and the painful shoulder gas... That by the way not everyone gets.. I used the hebalife shakes that really made me feel full but, they didn't have much protein. Another lifesaver for me was the chicken broth but that was on a clear liquid diet. If you're just on a liquid diet you can have much tastier soups. I'm sure time will fly by... :smile2:
  3. I'm pretty shocked about the weight loss.. I wasn't losing any weight prior to surgery.. even on the all liquid diet.. Yeah the gas is the worse, my incisions don't even hurt.. I was surprised they are so small. Oh.. and your tummy does look good. Very shapely woo hoo! As for the protein, like I said that vial was gross. I also bought some bottles of Isopure at GNC. They have 40 grams of protein and 0 carbs only drawback it's a 20oz bottle. That seems like alot of liquid... That's in the clear liquid spectrum. I think I read that you can drink shakes. I was drinking Premier Nutrition protein shakes from Costco. They're pretty good with 30 grams of protein, 160 calories and 5 carbs. They come premix in little containers and are only 11 oz. I think those are going to be my choice of protein when I start introducing shakes into my diet. As for the sweetness, maybe you could water them down. Today, I tried some SF jello. Unfortunately, I didn't break it up or dissolve it in my mouth enough, so when I swallowed it felt like it got stuck for a bit... weird.. :smile2:
  4. Hello All, I'm back and checking in.. Had surgery on the 1st.. I woke up feeling terrible pain in my left shoulder I was convinced someone kicked my a** in surgery.. It was only gas.. I came back from the hospital yesterday still feeling very weak and groggy with the shoulder pain. But, I didn't want to take any pain medication. I was trying to tough it out. I don't like the fuzzy feeling from the meds (big mistake). I had a bad night.. and today I finally gave in and drank the nasty pain med. I feel good.. I have to walk maybe that will help with gas although the gasX strips are great. All in All I'm doing good.. I haven't had too much of an appetite.. I'm still just sipping broth and clear liquids.. Sipping-- I made a big mistake and took a gulp not a chug but a good gulp and felt a big ball/lump in my chest.. eek I can't even imagine eating like I used to.. Amanda and Colorado I'm glad you Gals are doing good.. Oh by the way I bought some Profect Protein Vials at Costco YUK they are nasty.. Tell me how are you Gals getting protein and vitamins.. remember protein heals the body.. We Did It! 253 the day of surgery 9/1 248 Yesterday 9/2 246 today 9/3 I did pee like a horse after surgery my potassium even went down and I needed to take some nasty, salty, liquid before leaving the hospital..
  5. Okay.. I'm off to the hospital.. I'll be under the knife in one hour.. I'm not scared or nervous.. I'm excited
  6. I'm sure one shake isn't going to throw anything off.. As for me, No, no shakes. Just Clear liquids they did specify no milk products .. I wonder why? I'm wondering if I can have coffee.. I'm starving and caffeine curbs my appetite. They said tea was okay and did not specify non caffeinated.. Look at me.. one day before and I'm trying to cheat  I have to be strong! Okay well Good Luck! and God Bless You.. I will keep all of us in my prayers tonight..
  7. Day 2: of all liquid.. I'm feeling weak I'm just glad tomorrow is the big day.. I just want it to be over so that I can begin my new life.. Yesterday was hard but manageable.. ColoradoMom: You're right the chicken broth is a lifesaver... totally feels like food.. Good Luck to All Sept 1's !! Lost 3 pounds..

  9. Thank You for the info.. I will have to stay on my toes after surgery and be mindful of this.. I truly want to be a success story.. Unfortunately I hear my Doctor is a bit conservative when it comes to fills...
  10. Hello Valory, to answer your question. The weight loss starts as soon as they place the band around your stomach. The band itself is a restrictive device that prevents you from over eating. The fills are used to further restrict the amount of food it takes you to get that full feeling. I'll be getting banded Sept 1st..
  11. I think you should call.. forget about bugging them. It's their job, besides in these cases persistence does pay off. Sometimes they have a desk full of papers and if it takes a call for them to find yours... What are you waiting for do it! Good Luck and You were right it seemed like I wasn't loosing any weight and then all of a sudden I notice my clothes are looser. However, I've been afraid to jump on the scale...
  12. Hang in there BonanzaMan, I'm getting banded the 1st. I was put on a 2shakes,one reasonable meal a day diet till Sunday. Then it's an all liquid diet till the Big Day on Tuesday. I haven't lost any weight, I hope they don't re-schedule. I think is the stress of the surgery. I've tried to do all liquids but, like you I give in.
  13. Cortney, OMG hahaha:lol:That's too funny.. down girl,down.. I'm sorry to hear about the cardio. I'm sure you'll be fine on the 31st. I know I was very nervous when they did my pre-op EKG. It's just so close and I feel like something could go wrong. But, like boo said it's better to be safe..
  14. Hello mosean, You mean to tell me that they put you on an All liquid diet?? OMG I'm still screwing around with what I put into my mouth.. I so need to get it going.. I'm starting to get a do or die feeling... Yikes!
  15. Hello aberchic, It's called the "last supper" Mentality. When you feel everything you put in your mouth is because "It will be the last time I eat it" Not True... That's like the "I'll work it off tomorrow" or the "I'll be good the rest of the week" THAT!!... IS WHY WE ARE HERE!!!.... It wasn't the LAST time. WE didn't work it off and WE weren't "GOOD" the rest of the week.. NOW WE must look forward and remember NO past.. LOOK FORWARD to The Healthy YOU!!
  16. Hello Hart 37, I am getting Banded on September 1st. I was put on a pre op diet because of the liver, since the band is place on the upper part of the stomach and the stomach is directly behind the liver. It is necessary for the liver to shrink. ( the liver is the first organ to gain or lose fat). My doctor told me to go on a liquid diet the Sunday before the surgery. That should shrink the liver enough to make it easier for the surgeon to get to my stomach comfortably.. read up on it, remember we want to to make it as simple as possible for the doctor to do our procedure to ensure our success... I read that the procedure could be postponed because the liver isn't small enough... good luck!
  17. Hello everyone, Katklaws, I too feel like the clock is ticking and need to stock up on things.. First, I have to find out what brands are good. Magan Hang in there.. of course we are going to do this.. Why?? because we all know life without this surgery.. And if WE wanted to continue down that path, then none of us would be here. Think of why we want this so bad, and not so much what we'll be losing out on. I'm craving an apple fritter so badly. But in all honesty, throughout my life, I have eaten so many of them that if I never eat one again. I'll be okay. You guys know what else I wont have.. That grim feeling when I see a person bigger then me, painfully walking and I wonder if I will be that person in the future.. Sad but true. I know we'll get through this.. Okay guys I'm off to my primary to get all my pre-op lab slips. Hey, I need a ticker.. how did you guys get those cute tickers on the bottom of your posts?

Good Luck!!! You'll be in my prayers Tonight...
  19. Hello my fellow Septembers.. Well the day to my long journey is almost here. September 1ST! I'm both excited and scared.. My weight has fluctuated for the last year or so. My highest weight being 280lbs. Now that was scary!! I couldn't even put on my shoes, my feet were so swollen. I have been diabetic for the last 15 years and as of yet it hasn't effected my blood pressure, kidneys nor eye sight.. Thank God! Both my parents being diabetic I have seen first hand the path that was in store for me.. That is without the lap-band. I started in late 2007 but was delayed by an ulcer that was discovered in one of my pre-op upper GI's. I am currently 257lbs and trying to shed a little more before the surgery. I was put on a pre-op diet of one meal and two shakes a day. I am drinking Herbalife shakes. I have tasted many a shakes in my life long weight loss struggle. ( Life long.. I was born 10lbs 8oz ) I can say these truly leave me feeling full. However they don't contain the protein needed post-op. I was told I needed to have 60mg of protein a day.. I'll have to look for a replacement.. Any suggestions please let me know..I just recently came across this site. I am looking forward to finding and offering support.
