  1. When I hit a plateau about 5 months out, I was speaking to a nurse at my surgeon's office and she suggested cutting out all crystal lite and artificial sweeteners and replace with water--I've never had a plateau like that since, and I drink at least 64 oz a day. Every once in a while I'll crave something other than Water and I'll have a crystal lite or iced tea, but that's 1-2 glasses a week. Other than that, I drink my Protein shakes with 1% milk and Water only.

I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to reply to my thread!

This information is extremely important to know when your trying to lose weight. Who would have ever known, that these chemicals can actually hinder weight loss. Just knowing that you began losing again once you quit using artificial sweetners, is reason enough for me stop now!

This is exactly why this froum is such a fantastic tool when you are going through this journey. I am learning so much thanks to Lap Band Talk! Thanks again! :)

  2. It doesn't make sense to me at all that you where allowed to wear them before and not now?? Maybe others are complaining about it to her because they are jealous? Haters are everywhere.

It so strange to me that you are going through this now that you are at your goal. I always had it in my head that the thinner you are, the nicer people are to you! I have also always felt that being a heavier woman in the work place, we didn't get the respect we deserved!

Now I am hearing a different side of things. Sucks that you are going through this. Especially in this economy!

I guess the only thing you can really do, is get your feelings out there, which is what you have done by sending that e-mail, and hope it makes her realize that you are feeling "picked on!"

Try and brush your shoulders off girlie! You are such an amazing person. You have worked so hard to achieve this weight loss, your family and friends know it, and at the end of the day... that is all that matters.

  3. Great advice.. measure and take photos. It is important to see the progress!

Before the surger make sure and get Gas-X Strips! Have them handy! When they do the surgery on you they blow your stomach up. Causes trapped gas for alot of us bandsters! It happened to me, it is painful but not to worry, the strips help! If this happens to you make sure to take 2 to 3 strips at a time. (the box tells you) And try and get up and walk around.

Good luck on your weight loss journey!

It is the best thing I have ever done for myself!

  4. Don't worry. It is normal what you are feeling. I had my first fill on Monday 11-9. And now I finally have restriction. Before the fill I felt hungry all of the time also. I am good now. Although I haven't weighed myself this week, I can already tell I have lost this week. ( I will update my weight loss ticker on Monday) I have this weird thing where I only get on the scale once a week.

I am full faster, and hungry less.

Make sure you watch those portions! Even though you have more room and could eat more now It is not a good idea! Stick to Proteins and greens, never more then 1 cup.

    And keep working out.

Keep up the good work. Your doing fine!

  5. Just curious???.....I just read your bandster profile, and I see that you where banded on 8/18/08. Is that correct? And if so... have you smoked during this entire journey? Before and after????

My surgeon clearly tells everyone at the begining seminar, that he will not operate on anyone who smokes. I never asked why..because I dont smoke.

I have a friend who is trying to get this surgery done, and her doctor will not move forward with anything until she quits smoking. She refuses to quit. So her surgery is not scheduled.

  6. The pain your back sounds like Gas. Take Gas x strips..3 or 4 of them.. and walk it out. As my surgeon put it.."your intestines go to sleep" while you are in surgery, and it takes a while for them to come back. The gas gets trapped in side of you and seems to move into your back/shoulder area. The more you move around the more your bowels will begin to work.. Those strips helped me alot. The gas was the worse for me. It goes away I promise.

For the pain in your back, try standing up against the wall, and roll on a tennis ball. It helped me.

Your esophagus works so closely with your upper stomach/pouch. That restriction you are feeling in your throat is from that, and the food you are eating. It is hard to get used to. Sounds like you have good restriction though.. that is good. Us people with the band need that, in order to keep losing.

Hope you feel better.. Good luck to you on your weight loss journey! :tongue2:

  7. Whats the weather like in South Carolina?

In Arizona it is absolutley PERFECT for walking outside. I walk every day, on my lunch hour 30 min before I eat. To get my metabolism going, then again when I get home. I literally put my keys and purse down inside...grab my dog/son...lol and we take off!

Eventually.. I will start on the elyptical trainer.. but I am not ready for that yet. It's in my office at home just waiting for me.. :smile2:

I really think the walking is promoting my weight loss, and making me happier.

  8. Don't be scared just try and measure your food. Try not to eat more than 1cup. And make sure you go walking..excersise! Get up and get moving! You need to visualize yourself thinner and healthier! Try and think POSITIVE! You deserve this!

I had my surgery on 9/23. I have lost 15lbs. Although I am happy with my weight loss, and feel soo much better already, I, like everbody else, wish the weight would come off quicker. I can tell the inches are coming off because I work out. I am not focusing on the number but more on how I feel, and the size of my clothes. The inches are coming off.. I know because I now wear a size 16/18 instead of a 20/22.

I have my first fill on 11-9-09. From what I understand the restriction/weight loss starts after that. I am thankful because it is right before this dreaded "food holiday!"

    Good luck to you!

  9. Sounds a little creepy LOL! I wish I would have known that you could do that. Damn! That terrible "trapped gas pain" Was the worst EVER! Even harder than healing from the srugery.

For all of the newer Post op Bandsters... I should have posted before.. The trapped gas does eventually go away when it does..beans are a great source of Protein, and they are filling.. I should have said that before.

  10. My doc told me the same as Reeneek! When you begin to eat reg. food, all of your Protein should come from good solid nutrition. My doc also said no snacking, no sugar... 3 meals a day, try to eat lean soft Proteins and greens.. stay away from starchy foods, and fruits..(fruits because of natural sugars) and eat one cup of food each meal. Also.. very important to take chewable Multi Vitamins & Calcium supplements.< /p>

I am just starting out but this is the advice that I was given.. And to me it makes perfect sense.....

I think once you get to your goal, you can eat pretty much eat what you want, in moderation.. and the key is only 1cup each meal. As long as you watch those portions & excercise.. You should do great.

Take a look at 2flyguys, she is almost at her goal weight.. She eats whatever she wants, but her success comes from portion size and excercise!

  11. Mine is on the left beneath my rib-cage. Funny... I just assumed everyone's was! I can feel mine at the surface as well. It is the strangest feeling. I do not like it. When I lay on my side I always tuck my feather pillow underneath it, because I am afraid I will accidently dis-lodge it. LOL

Although I feel this surgery is the best thing I have ever done... It is very strange knowing that there is something permantly implanted inside of you.

  12. I have only lost 15lbs, and I am already feeling all confident. LOL (as if.. right?)

To me you are my inspiration! There is not a day that goes by that I dont think about your success! When I go walking, I walk further, faster, and longer each week, with hopes that I too, can acheive the same success! I hope to be as motivated and healthy minded as you one day!

I think that you should do a make-over, buy yourself the best clothes, and rock that new body.. hottie! But DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR! LOL!

PS: the 1cup bowls... best advice ever!
