    refill after delivery

Figured i'd update, I talked to my surgeon and he said if i was breastfeeding he has his patients wait till they are done, however since im not he scheduled my fill for 4 weeks after i delivered!!! I am unbelievably excited to get my band filled again!!!!!!!!
  2. Hey there, im currently 20 years old and 38 weeks pregnant. I'm trying to find some info on getting my band refilled after the baby is born. My surgeon had me defill my band when i was 11 weeks due to morning sickness and having trouble getting my prenatals down. I simply chose to leave it unflled for the remainder of my pregnancy. So now my due date is coming and ideally i would like to have my band filled within days of giving birth since i wont be breast feeding. however everything ive read says most doctors wait till 6 weeks pp. anyone have had experience with this??
  3. Well good luck! hopefully itll be soon!
  4. @Lessyaudra Thank you :] Good luck witth everything as well! Do you already have your band or are you just starting the whole process?
  5. Thank you, im sure i will have more pictures of her to share in the future! I love waking up in the morning to her, even if shes screaming! Im excited to get back on track, and start losing weight again. about your port pain though, i had it too, it came and went though. As she got bigger she tended to lay on it, or push on it so it stuck out a bit, people would rub my tummy and think they found her foot. It hurt a little but other things pertaining to pregnancy hurt more haha.

    refill after delivery

well congrats on the new baby!!! Thats interesting that you feel yours is tighter. My daughter was born last week and im going to give my surgeon a call tomorrow or tuesday and see when he wants me to come in. Even if its just to talk about when to do what. I chose not to breastfeed so im hoping to get filled ASAP to get back on track.
  7. Thats great to hear!!! I'm so happy for you. its such an amazing time, im almost jealous! I delivered my baby girl 4 days overdue on Wednesday august 31st. I hope everything goes as well if not better for you than it did for me! (I had a very easy pregnancy) Lillian Louise Marie born August 31st 2011 at 6:18pm weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and 19 inches long. <3 She is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen.
  8. Hey, i just wanted to say, the reason i chose lapband out of the other surgeries out there was because my doctor told me that i could have a perfectly normal and heallthy pregnancy without worries from my surgery if i did lapband. So far thats been true for me. You shouldnt let your doctors scare you, thats not fair. My surgeon has been supportive from day one about my ability to get pregnant and have babies. (This pregnancy was not planned i would have waited a little longer haha but whatever) If i were you, i would not let fear about something i chose to make my life better impact things like my sex life. If you get pregnant you get pregnant and be glad you are. If you doctors scare you about that, i'd be tempted to switch. Being pregnant at any point in my opinion is a wonderful joyous thing and should always be thought of as such no matter the circumstances. If you want to be pregnant now or ever in the future i wish you the best of luck!!!! -Emily
  9. Hey! congrats on getting pregnant! I got pregnant (on accident) a little over a year after i got my band. I had lost a little over 100 pounds at that point. My surgeon unfilled my band at 11 weeks and everything has gone extremely well since. My due date is next week and i cant wait to have my baby girl here!!! At your ultrasound you they can see your port if you ask them too! Its kinda cool. Because of where mine is, you can really feel it if you touch my belly. people always ask if its her foot. Good luck with everything and if you ever wanna chat hit me up! :]

New, 19, and need someone to relate to

I got my band at 18 (almost 19 though) At my one year i had lost 100 LBS :] it was an amazing feeling. I looked good, i felt good, I was living life (always did before i got my band but theres something about liking the way you look that makes it better!) I was partying with my friends and boyfriend and then about a month later i started having issues. I was starving constantly which really sucks when you havent felt what it was like to actually be hungry in over a year and weird stuff was upsetting my stomach and i basically worried myself into a huge knot because i thought it might have slipped and was freaking out. As it turns out my band is wonderfully still in place my issues were coming from being pregnant! Unfortunately my surgeon recommended de-filling for a my pregnancy and i have gained some weight back but plan on getting cinched right back up within a week of delivery! All in all my band is wonderful and it was and is the best decision I have ever made (other than deciding to keep my baby of course!)

    Banded and Pregnant

So, I turned 20 in March. I got banded at 18 in November of 2009. As of my year anniversary in 2010 i had lost 100lbs. I am now 8 months pregnant, and have gained a good 35-40 pounds :[ So im just wondering how long I should wait before i get filled. My surgeon de-filled mine at 11wks and i am ITCHING to get a fill. i plan on getting it done within a week of baby girls arrival but alot of people (most of which do not have a band) think its to soon. My OB doesnt really have an answer, but i have an appointment with me surgeon next week but was hoping to get some other opinions before then.

    quick question about fills

it depends on the situation mostly, my suregon doesnt want anyone but his own staff doing my fills and unfills. in case of emergency im supposed to call him first and talk to him about going to the ER and what not. but if your going to be living near school id have it done by a local doctor there not in my home town

    Would You do it again?

That would be because you can do it Amber, just give it a chance and you will love it. On the question about doing it again? Anyday. i would do it again any day of the week. it was the best descicion i have ever made for my self and i only wish i had done it sooner.

    17 and Clueless.

Well im glad i can help. and i assure you, you can do this! but if you ever have trouble remembering that or just need someone to talk to, feel free to message me, email or even text me or call me. This is all new to me too but i think the more support you have the easier it is. I get my second fill on the 18th and im totally stoked :] When is your first fill?

    17 and Clueless.

Hey Amber, You gotta give it a bit of a chance. The pain will go away and you get to eat real food, your lucky if you only did the special diet for 4 weeks. I was on clear liquids for 3 weeks pre op and couldnt touch even mushy food for 4 weeks post op. I had my band done in november and have one fill since then. The pain is gone and i can pretty much eat all the food i used (significantly less amounts of it but the same foods) It really comes down to how bad did you want this. Taylor, she is right though, you should try anything else first. surgery is a big deal. its not a magical cure it does take work. i have to take an obnoxious amount of vitamins everday and drink protien shakes. i HATE protien drinks. with a passion they are probably the most disgusting thing i have ever had to force myself to drink repeatedly. but to me, this was worth it.

    17 and Clueless.

Just relax. Everything will happen just as it should. Talk to your mom and dad first and do alot of research on doctors around the area. find one whose right for you! I'm 18 and was banded on november 19th 2009. and it was the best thing i have ever done for myself. :]
  20. thanks :] at the moment i cant eat anything and i really dont think that it would be comfortable to at this point, im on all clear liquids. on thursday i get to drink protien drinks again which are kinda yucky but its better than nothing but vitamins and broth. it took so long i guess cause i have an extremely like anal doctor and every test it was possible to have he had done to make sure everythign would go perfect i guess. but thats a good thing right?

  21. its not to bad. i mean my stomach hurts but i have pain meds and that should go away i think the worst was the air stuff they put in you so they have more room to work. i can, like, feel it i guess beneath my ribs and that kinda hurts, but i think everything has gone pretty good so far :] i fortunately have reallllly good insurance cause my parents work for the federal medical so it went through no problem. i feel like it took forever to actually get my band but from waht people have said mine went through really quick i startted the process in august.

  22. Im pretty good, really sore though. i had my surgery on thursday. is yours schedualed?

  23. Hey :] thanks for adding me. How are you?

    Anyone 16+?

haha being a veggie head isnt always a bad thing. i went of a vegatarian kick for like 2 years but i like chicken nuggets :] So i officially have my band yay me. im really sore though, and i didnt take enough pain medication last night so i basically sat through 2 hours and 10 minutes of new moon is complete misery, it was a good movie (book was better) it was pretty funny in parts but it hurt really bad to laugh.. im reallllllly excited though. and in 4 weeks i can actually eat food again!!!!

    Anyone 16+?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! thats awesome, im glad it didint hurt. i have mine in exactly 7 days :] my doctor told me on my own (no liquid diet or anything) i lost 22.9 pounds last month, and since i have been on the liquid i lost 6.9 :] im waaaaaaaaaay excited. but i have to be at the doctors at 5:30am next thursday. thats soooooo early but thats okay. I heard though if you like protien load and work out (even just walking) you should minimize the loose skin issue.
