Brigette got a reaction from Susan11803 in Easter's Challenge
I am in. My goal is to lose 20 lbs. Which would put me at 179. I am currently as of today 199. My surgery Date was 9 February.
So, assuming I am understanding correctly, I would then, on Monday, post my weight again?
Exciting! I need the motivation. Thanks for doing this.

Brigette got a reaction from Veronica Page in Feel like I can eat A LOT!
Wow. I have the same concern. I am about 11 days out. i am able to eat quite well. I restrict myself by only eating 3-4 oz. I am on soft food stage and eat Beans and cheese. But, I am still losing well so won't complain. I am following plan to the letter. my Dr. has a great history so, we shall see!

Brigette reacted to shizwiz in Feel like I can eat A LOT!
I had the same 'OH MY LAWWD I CAN EAT A TON' freak out this week!
I have been using those super cute baby bowls with the lids (the colorful ones) and baby spoons. The bowl is 8oz, so I know half is 1/2c, or a full is 1 cup, etc etc etc. I usually eat about 1/2c or a bit more and am full or at least satiated. However, I think because I am used to the small bowl as 'normal' now, I wasn't computing that my normal portion now is pretty tiny compared to everyone else's normal portion size.
But I do see FB posts from some of my surgery buddies-- they are eating 1 shrimp and then they are full. Then I am left wondering 'Seriously?!' because I can have 4-5. Then I wonder for hours if my surgeon maybe tested out a new, larger sleeving tool on ME and I ended up with the almost normal sized stomach....LOL paranoia at its finest.
I guess we are lucky in the fact that the restriction isn't super severe, and we aren't throwing up all the time, right?!
Hey- now at least I know I am not alone! Thanks buddy

Brigette got a reaction from fit4life123 in SURGERY 9 FEBRUARY 2015
Good Morning,
I can not believe my revision surgery is tomorrow. I am excited but, kind of nervous. I am 47 years young but, I have 2 youngsters (12 and 6). I was very successful with the lap band until I developed an eye stroke and MGUS. Though I was told that there was no correlation between the band and these conditions, I started thinking that a foreign appliance in me was concerning. So, I had the Fluid removed from band and instantly started gaining. Also, when I tried to have Fluid placed back in back, I could never get the correct restriction.
I did not do so well on the pre op. My diet was quite liberal. Just Protein and veggies. Yesterday, I had 1 piece of chicken but, fried. And, also had a piece of cake early in the week. Other than that, not too bad.
Please send prayers up to the Big Guy upstairs!! I will post tomorrow. This time I plan to take pictures and measurements. I will post my admittance picture tomorrow morning!
Thanks everyone!!

Brigette reacted to Mrs. Vee in Massive stall! Grrr! Frustrating!
Well it's been a while since I've communicated. Sorry, but life issues taken presidence. I've been caring for my hubby who fell out of bed one morning having a seizure. It's been tough but God is good and we are taking it a day at a time. He had 4 total by the time the ambulance got to the hospital. I'm eating but can't eat much. I fight to stay away from the sweet and fatty stuff but I must be doing pretty good because I'm still losing. I have to admit I'm kinda of tired of the shakes. They taste good and I've added fruit and a raw egg. I try to have at least 1 a day. Now I'm thinking about buying the T25 workout video, not sure when I can do it yet with my knee accident but I want to have it. I drink ISO 100 it's like a shake but I've never been big on shakes is the issue. I've missed you all and hopefully I'm back at least 1-2 times a week. Be blessed and keep losing!

Brigette reacted to pancake1271 in Massive stall! Grrr! Frustrating!
I had a revision one year ago (January 13 2014) and I have been in a massive plateau. I've only lost about 25lbs in the last year but I've also lost about 18inches. I've hit a major major major plateua. Its been about an 8 month stall. I work out about 3-4 times a week with either running 3miles or doing Zumba. I was keeping my calories to 1200 before exercise but then realized I need to eat back and to up my calorie intake. So I have been netting about 1400-1500 calories a day. And forget about any more inches coming off. I measure myself about once a month and nothing changes!!! GRRR!!!!
Its just so frustrating since I am more active than I ever was and now I cant even lose 1 pound or 1 inch!
I'm gonna change up my fitness routine a bit and the foods I'm eating and see it that will break this stall. Instead of Zumba, I'm gonna swim laps and do strength training for a while. I'm gonna keep running since I will be doing a half marathon in November and lots of 5ks and 10ks runs during the spring and summer.
Wish me luck on getting through the massive stall!

Brigette reacted to Kindle in Huge Winter Storm Predicted Same Day As Sx
I had surgery in Mexico and was supposed to arrive the day before. Here's my weather-related travel nightmare....
I got to the airport only to discover my flight was cancelled because the SLC airport was closed due to a storm and my connection was through there. Since it was Christmas time, all flights were booked and the next flight they could get me on was two days later! So I hopped in my truck, started driving and played phone tag with Delta on my way to the next closest airport...5 hours away. I finally got booked to fly standby on the LAST flight into San Diego. Arrived at 1:30am day of surgery, but had to get a hotel room because the OCC shuttle couldn't get me until until 7am. Meanwhile, my sister was already checked in to the TJ Marriott. I finally made it to OCC and ended up being the last surgery of the day.
Talk about stressful, but where there's a will, there's a way. Just believe your surgery WILL happen and do whatever it takes.

Brigette reacted to stuknbama in how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?

Brigette reacted to Foreverblessedx3 in how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
Awesome, glad it went well! Don't think we are the norm though. I also had an easy time, was up walking in the recovery room... I think I shocked the nurses, said they haven't had anyone wanting to walk that soon. I have had gall bladder surgery and 3 c-sects... When I was 25 years younger. This was far easier. God is good. My doctor has a 3 day stay, but let me go early.
My surgery was a little over an hour. I am so thankful!
