My second fill i had was too tight, as was my third. My first will it took me almost a month to go ahead and go in and get the unfill. At first i was not sure if i was too tight, then i realized i was , my doc me go back on liquids to let my stomach heal and try it again . I knew after that i was too tight. I had to go in for an unfill. I was worried i would not be tight enough . He took out half a cc and WOW what a difference it makes! i still had restriction and was eating small portions , I still lost weight. It is scarey but what is more scary is the thought of loosing the band from PBing all the time. The third fill was too tight, (I normally do not know im too tight until about the 3rd day after my fill ) i went in after a week and got half a cc taken out again . This time my doc told me i am sensitive to fills and we are going ot have to go smaller fills from now on . which if fine for me. it sounds like you know your too tight. Throwing up all the time jeopardizes your band , its not healthy . You will feel much better once you get an unfill MIndy

Has anyone applied for health insurance after lap band surgery ? I was denied prior to surgery due to my weight. I am curious now that i have lost weight if i would qualify , but im wondering if my band will affect anything. I thought about not telling them i even have it . My primary docs know i have it but nothing is on my records with them . So im wondering if anyone has gotten health insurance since loosing weight with the band and how they handled it ?? thanks Mindy

I sent you a PM about another forum that might be able to give you some help on the bill side of this . I am sure there is something you can do , some kind of letter to send along with a copy of the court orders ect i am just not sure what it is . The bill collectors have to follow a court order , if it says you are not responsible, just as they do with divorces. Granted it is not easy to do , and it will probably take some work. Like i said I just do not know the exact way to go about it . But the Forum link i PMed you someone on there WILL be able to tell you exactly how to go about it. I do not think its bad to not want a fill. The only thing i would suggest is to try not to drink 2 meals a day . At least my doc suggests not supplementing more than 1 meal a day . He does not want us drinking our Protein . You will get more fullness from eating your protein. But i say if its working for now your fine. You might find more satisfaction though if you eat more protein rather than drinking it . Also I know several people who have had the band for over a yr and have never been stuck and never PB'd . So a fill does not mean complications or issues. HTH Mindy

She said " My lips are swollen and red also inside my mouth are a few small blisters" Also "rarely " does not mean it wont. My son had it so badly he was hospitalized for 4 days , he was so combatant no one bothered to look into his mouth , he had sores all the way down his esophagus. by the time they released him we ALL had it . My best friends family , her DD got it just a few blisters on her lips , her husband got it much worse, lips , mouth , down his throat, Her older daughter just on her lips. Ghost, This really does seem like one of those situations that more effort either needs to be made during the yr for more interaction or less effort during the holidays. I personally do not see the point in having your holidays so stressful for someone ( although your dad) who a relationship has to be so forced. Also for your husband , I use to try to force a relationship on my husband with his father. I "thought" they needed to be closer. I would call his dad and put him on the phone . Finally i told hubby you need to be closer to your dad , he told me " NO I dont YOU do NOT know what he put us through as kids, ( it was a VERY bad child hood, his father was an alcoholic and drug addict , my husband ended up living on his own at 14) I have no desire to be around him unless ihave to " And when I stopped calling , the calls stopped. He doesn't call now . He doesnt send pics, he has no desire to even be in contact. Sometimes just because we are family does not mean we get along and can be around each other. Might be thrush or Hand foot and mouth disease (Not really a disease just a virus ) . But it sounds like you need to be seen . It really sounds more like Hand Foot and mouth . Its VERY contagious so be very careful around others. You need to go in and be seen if that is what it is to verify . Check your hands and feet to see if you have any little blisters on them Sometimes they show up there sometimes they do not . I would get to the doc ! Mindy

If im out and i feel like getting a dessert , normally one of my kids will get one and I will take a bite or 2 off it and thats it. That's IF I have room left after dinner. Typically though dessert has to be "Planned" for , so i save room LOL but If i want something I will just take bites off of some one elses now Mindy

I agree with you 1000% ! I do not get going on a diet after having surgery , for me perosnally , diets do not work because of the restrictions they put on you , lets face its as minimial as they are I have enough restriction placed on me now with the band. I tracked calories right after surgery just to make sure I was eating ENOUGH. I do not count calories, protien , ect. IF I want a piece of cake at a party , christmas, ect I eat it . I do NOT limit myself . I eat what i want . As you can tell from my signature it works for me, Im down almost 60 pds ! I have adjusted my eating habits since surgery , i eat better, eat healthier! I have not read all the replies so sorry if something i saw is a repeat. I recently saw a Dr Phill about this and I had to agree with him on this . If attempts with family are not made outside holidays to be cordial with family members why do people constantly try to force that on themselves during the holidays ? His reasoning was if its not important enough to work on all yr long then it does not need to try to be fixed during a few days during the holidays. And I tend to agree. Families are like anyone else, I had to do the same thing with my MIL and my husband . I did not get along with her. So why force the issue ? If she were NOT my MIL would I be around her ? NO she was toxic . FINALLY after 5 yrs my husband got that. Does that make sense ? Mindy

First I think its great your taking the time to come on here and ask for Feed back , If you have not already I would hope that you could do that same questions from your own patients, that is awesome . My doc Is Dr Jorge Rincon San Antonio TX So, please give me some feedback: What do you love about your band surgeon and their practice? I love his personality , he's straight forward and to the point, does not beat around the bush , Kind , friendly . The practice , the staff is nice, and 99% runs on time . Maybe one thing im not CRAZY about is his post fill diet,but i knew what i was getting into when i signed up and the results speak for themselves. My first conversation was with the doc HIMSELF , that said A LOT to me that he took the time out to speak to my on the phone for 20 mintues . What do you hate? I would say nothing . The office runs efficiently , everyone is honesty What do we do well? My doc , does everything well . I enjoy his company when i have to see him . His price is reasonable. What could we do better? As a Whole Gastric docs, I think making the after care more uniform would be helpful epically for support for patients. What more could we do to help you succeed? ? How could we improve your customer experience with our practices? I woudl say nothing on my docs practice. HTH Mindy

Becky , can Dani just slowly back away from Dani , be busy alot ? For one tell Dani to watch what she tells this girl . She CAN Control that . Tell her to not confide in this girl at ALL . Its one things to be "friends" with someone who can "Ruin" You in high school its another to be "Best friends" with someone . It sounds like they did what they could with what they had. Just FYI Legally the school can not tell you anything about the other student, if she has dispiline problems , has been in trouble before or even if she's a perfect angel. That is why that happened. Girls sure can be mean and it sounds like this friend, like you said had something to do with this deal . I hope Dani comes to her senses. At the very least maybe have a talk with her and not allow her to hang out with this girl out side of school ? Then you run the risk of her doing it MORE ? Mindy

LOL My husband keeps trying to "push" Him into getting a girl friend and I asked him last week " WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU leave him alone " LOL if he doesnt want one leave him be , he'll get one when he's ready . Ill be plenty happy with going through the next 3 yrs watching him play football and not having to deal with girls at my house ! LOL Mindy

I was about to say the SAME THING. School is not the same as it was even less than 15 yrs ago when we were in school ( we i mean myself) the girls are just plain VICIOUS . And unless you have children you have NO IDEA what kids go through now . the girls for some reason seem to be more mean , hateful than in my time too! the kids have so much more to deal with than just school Mindy

My son is 16 yrs younger than I am . I had him at 16 . So it has not been that long since i have been out of high school. I would not want to be there now for my life. My son is popular, attractive, a football player, friendly , but doesnt have a girlfriend. I asked him the other night why he doesnt hav ea girl friend, He said " MOM girls in highschool have too much crap going on with them , too much drama i just dont want to deal with it ~ I cant say i blame him either. Although I agree to a point with not getting involved . here is another problem that can come up . Most schools have zero tolerance policies now for violence. Which includes children DEFENDING their selves if they are attacked. you may think im nuts but at my son's school ( He's a freshman) there was a girl who was being bullied on my space , there were being threats made against her that she would be killed, jumped ect. Keep in mind this is a upper middle class school too .. The mother went to the school, told them about the situation , told them she wanted something done, showed them the myspace. THAT DAY the girl was jumped in front of the school buses. MULTIPLE witness', other students parents reported she did NOTHING BUT PROTECT Herself. they threw her in the alternative learning center TOO . WHY because she threw a punch as well. AFTER she was attacked, Zero tolerance. I would contact the school . let them know this is going on . IF YOUR daughter get attacked let them know under NO CIRCUMSTANCE will you tolerate her being punished for protecting herself !!!! Do not just assume sitting back and doing nothing or letting the school take care of it is enough . read the zero tolerance policy at your childs school, you would be surpised what it says. Also do not assume other children will get involved, their loyalties do not run that deep yet . Mindy

I totally agree . I for one never do that . If someone asks i tell them about my doc . Granted I do love him , but that's for ME. here is the problem with saying " MY DOC IS THE BEST DOC EVER" , this is my opinion ... for one its advertising as you said, i dont think this is the place for it. this is a place for safe information to be given . But more importantly for ME i could NEVER Live with myself if someone went ot my doc on MY RECOMMENDATION and something happened to them . So i tell them , this is where i went ,here are some other options CHECK THEM ALL OUT ! I want it to be THEIR CHOICE I would not want ANYTHING Laid on me !. I will tell anyone how much i enjoy , trust me doc ect.. but I try to not " recommend " him , suggest yes .. If that makese sense. Mindy
