    No support from friends.

I must say that i thought i was alone with unsupportive friends... I made my decision alone, went on that long journey of assessment without telling anyone, it was my decsiion and i had to be ok wiht it and certain before telling anyone, I knew they would all have comments to make!! After i was on the waiting list I told my parents, who although surprised were suportive, I then told a few very close friends who all said 'if this is what you want then go for it' so i felt fine ... THEN!! I've lost 46lbs and those supportive friends (who actually are both obese) dont even acknowledge my weight loss, I can tell them ive lost 6lbs to their face and they dont even respond the best I get is if I say im happy with my loss, 'I bet you are' thats my supportive friends!! However, although this hurts initially i can see it for what it is..their insecurity!! you see for years although theyve been big ive been bigger...and therefore made them feel better about themselves!! but not for much longer... So Ive decided I will take my support where I can get it...my parents, a few friends and my lovely support system here!! In conclusion (sorry to waffle), is go for it, nobody knows ourselves like us and only we can make this decision, I have no regrets about doing this only wish i'd done it years ago and if i lose a few friends on the way, then I'l be sad butthey obviously werent meant to be....lol

Oh to be in 18's!!! Well done girls, I have a long way to catch you but I will... I had my first fill today in fact 4hrs ago, it went great no problem at all, he did it with x ray and a barium drink, only thing is I had to drink 2 cupfulls and now am suffering having to go to the toilet a lot!! anyone else have this happen to them? I don't want to eat at all, not hungry but I have TOM as well so don't know whether I have pain from fill or cramp (hopefully cramp!!)
  7. Well done everyone! Wheetsin - thats the nsv I want!! not having to ask for an extender belt on an airplane!!! way to go... I got my first fill today, he put in 3mm in a 9mm band although he says the most he would ever fill it to was 7mm. He's really pleased with my progress, although I know my weight has been the same since end of august, by there weigh ins i've lost 7lbs!! since I last saw them. I was feeling as if I had come to a standstill and was doing sooo badly but when I stood in that office with other people who were waiting for there first fill and they had gained or not lost anything at all, although i was sad for them it made me very happy and proud to realise that I had actually achieved 39lbs loss, so pat on the back to me....LOL

Hi all, Leona - way to go looking good!!! Mary - when's your first fill? Mines this thursday, I thought I was last to get a fill - maybe not? I'm in the uk so they don't do fills as quickly as they do in america. I'm desperatley in need of my fill now, I can eat anything and everything and AM!!!! can't stop eating!! it's not a huge quantity of food but it's all the wrong stuff...Junk food!! i'm hoping my fill will stop this and put me back on track..can't even get myself to the gym that i've paid a lot of money for!! Never mind...positive thoughts, positive thoughts!! I WILL GO TO THE GYM TOMORROW!! I'l report in to let you all know and feel free to tell me how bad i've been if I haven't gone!!!

Hi, I was banded in sunderland by the same surgeon as sugarplum (we do know each other!!) I'm getting my first fill on thursday, adn can't wait!! I sometimes get really down reading of people in USA who were banded at the same time as me and have 2 fills and want more, when i've had to wait 10 weeks for my first..
  12. Teresita - My willpower has stopped working!! I thought that I didn't have any restriction at all, but then today I've had my very first PB!! nothing to be proud of and it's horrible!! I ate stodgy white bread...very nice but not band friendly.. I'm going back to the gym monday as i've been made redundant and no longer have a job. My first fill is thursday, so am looking forward to restriction!! I think I was eating very badly because of all the stress I was under, but now most of it has been lifted I should do ok. Since my Pb earlier, I find I don't want to eat, so am going to be missing a meal hopefully that will help prevent me from gaining. I'l post my gain/loss on monday...hopefully it will be a loss. Well done everyone else!!
  13. Hi Guys, i haven't posted in a while i'm on a bit of a downer, i'm now 9 weeks post op and not getting my first fill until 28th September. It's the way things work in the UK. I lost any restriction I had about 4 weeks ago and have been using willpower only since then...and what happens with willpower? It eventually fails!! I got the band to be my willpower for me, to stop me eating when I can't do it....well, I was doing ok until I had to stop going to the gym for 2 weeks as I had Sciatica and my doc told me to rest up. I can start again now but am frightened as that is where I get weighed!! I think I may have gained...it could be all the chocolate and crisps I've been eating!! Anyway, enough moaning i try to start each day anew but its not working, at least I only have a week until my fill and then I'l get back on track. Well done to everyone, your doing so well and I hope to be loosing again soon..

    Liquid vitamin or chewable?

Hi, I have difficulty taking tablets of any kind, so I take a chewable Multivitamin I find I will remember to take them, whereas liquid i would have to stop and take rather than on the run. I can't see why you can't take a liquid supplement, but I'm not a Dr, maybe call you dr and ask...

    Big Hello from the UK

Hi Mastiffmum, I'm from the Uk as well, I got banded July 18th. I have PCOS and have found although my weight is still high, I have started to have periods which I have never had regularly and sometimes only 1 a year... I'm also bordeline diabetic type 2 and I hope this will prevent it from becoming full blown and from what I've heard on this site, I'm sure mine and your co morbidities will improve....good luck

    July 2006 Band Crew

Hi Guys, Everone seems to be having a tough time at the moment and yet theres still lots of positive weight losses going on....well done to all!! I don't know if Ive lost anything this week as i've had sciatica in my back and have had tos tay away from the gym for a week and thats where i get weighed. I'm going to try and go tuesday so will hopefully have lost then!! I've also had a tough week this week, a relative has passed away and this has raised old hurts and wounds within the family and i am really stressing about it. Also, although I knew it was coming i'm being made redundant at work on 22nd September, so need to find a new job, although i'l still be working as a consultant from home until the end of October. My mother has a broken shoulder and my dad had an op for carpal tunnel last week so they are both incapacitated at the moment and are relying on me to help a lot.. and at this moment in time I feel sooooo tired and I know thats how I usually feel when things become too much for me to cope with.. But I'l be ok, once I get this coming week out of the way. On a positive note - i had 2 NSV's this last week. the first one was on wednesday i was standing making a cup of tea at work with my back to the room and one of the girls asked me when I was going to get some trousers that fit!! because the ones I have been wearing for work are dropping off me, I don't need to loosen them to pull them up or down!! The 2nd one was on friday i tried on some denim cutoffs that I had in the wardrobe and they fit perfectly and when i checked they were 2 sizes smaller!! I was jumping for joy!! and it was nice to wear something that fits rather than hangs!! i didn't realise loosing weight would cause me to moan about not having anything to fit!! but it's a good feeling...

Josette - I'm really pleased you don't have cancer, now you can concentrate on losing that weight!!! oh, ands an errant husband...lol Molly - Well done on the 50lbs, not long to twoterville!! I have a NSV, i tried on some cutoff denims on friday from my neverending supply of clothes too small!! and they fit!!! I couldn't believe it and when I checked the size they are 2 SIZES SMALLER!!!! yahoooooooo....
  18. Mourning Funeral, I'm not an expert on tickers but I double click into mine in 'edit signature' this takes me back to the ticker website and my current ticker I change my current weight then finish it,then copy and paste it into my signature. Hope this helps if not someone else will help i'm sure.. I'd love to chat...pm me!
  19. Well, I'm glad I posted that message yesterday ad today has been a disaster...I'm like Kim at the moment sooo hungry but I know it's head hunger!!! and i'm still eating, goes to show you can know the tricks but that makes it easier to not do them (if you see what I mean lol) I think I need a fill NOW, my first fill is 28th September, but thats too long, I can eat almost anything at the moment and much bigger quantities than I've ever been able to before. I'm going to phone my surgeons secretary on monday and see if it's possible to get one earlier, probably not as here in the uk you get what your given, but God loves a trier!! otherwise I think I'l gain more weight..

Hi, has anyone gone through with ps and got the scars to prove it? How bad is the scarring? does it heal really well or will you still have to cover up? I've got a long way to go but am thinking about it for the future.
